Heyo, as said before, I asked you guys for some characters to put into an XCOM 2 campaign and that I'll give updates on them, so here it is! The updates thread! (And I suppose discussion thread too if you want lol)
If you wanna submit a character, here is the thread!
Now I suppose I should start giving some updates on how it's going! Idk how I'm exactly going to give updates yet, but I'll see myself.
As of current, I'm thinking of only giving summaries on missions where forumer characters are involved. But if you want to see other missions with non forumer characters, just tell me!
I might go for a bit of storytelling. Maybe, maybe not. But we'll see.
Expect some walls of text maybe sometimes
Oh, and heads up, I'm playing a DLC expansion of XCOM 2, which is known as War of The Chosen, so there is a lot more features out there to make the game interesting!
Also, expect edits on all of these posts since I keep on thinking about adding updates to them lol
Current forumer characters:
Urdim 'Omelette' Abtahi - Galaxian
Some Basic Terms/Keys
ADVENT - A puppet government that has been in control of the world ever since XCOM had failed to bring a stop to the alien invasion in 2015
Elders - A race of powerful psionic beings. They mind control many of the ADVENT and alien forces into doing their will.

Misison 1: Operation Gatecrasher:
A squad of 4 has been selected to create a diversion to be able to secure an important asset in ADVENT territory. This diversion will include the destruction of a monument of the Elders. Ensure no civilians will be killed in the process.
If all goes according to plan, we secure the asset, and we may have a chance at winning this war. It could be considered the first time XCOM has a chance after the defeat of 2015.
A total of 6 troopers were encountered. 5 standard troopers, and 1 captain.
Urdim Abtahi was among the 4 soldiers that were deployed. He has shown competence in the field, earning him a promotion from rookie to squaddie, and assigned the sharpshooter class.
What is this asset you say? It's the Commander. One that could possibly bring down the alien’s reign (Me!)

Mission 3: Operation Lost and Abandoned:
A squad of 4 has been selected to make contact with allied forces against Alien occupation. Those being the Reapers and Skirmishers.
The Reapers are a faction of wild huntsmen that rely on stealth and long range combat. They’re a highly isolationist group that are often hard to come in contact with. Lucky, we were able to.
The Skirmishes are a faction of defected ADVENT soldiers to the Earthern cause. They have been able to free themselves from Elder mind control and are given free will. Because of their background, it may be hard for some to work with Ex-ADVENT, but we’ll help anyone we can get.
The two have had a long lasting feud with one another. Our troops are to act as a neutral mediator to ensure no combat breaks out, and rather a collaborative alliance is established.
Our squad will separate into two fireteams and deploy at two separate areas of deployment. From there we will meet and escort representatives from separate factions to the meeting point.
The designated meeting point is located in an abandoned city that was attacked in the first invasion. We expect little to no ADVENT resistance, but still caution is best advised.
Upon arrival, it was revealed that the city indeed did not have much ADVENT presence, however they were still there. More on that later.
Instead we found an immense population of what is known as The Lost. As our head research doctor puts it:
"It appears the alien devices dropped during the First Invasion had a degenerative effect on these citizens, causing their physical and mental health to rapidly decay while maintaining primitive organic functions."
It was analyzed that while The Lost are quite weak, they make up for it in numbers. ADVENT activity was seen in Purifier units. Units specialized in clearing out The Lost.
We were able to establish successful relationships with the two factions in the chaos, however it turned for the worse as an alien had directly attacked the group. It wasn't necessarily ADVENT forces, but rather what was termed as The Chosen. Elite soldiers selected by the Elders themselves. The singular Chosen, reported to be an assassin of some kind, was able to not only cause the combined force to search for an emergency evac by alerting all Lost within the area, but also was able to capture our Skirmisher ally.
Urdrim Abtahi was on this mission. He once again showed efficiency in the field, and was promoted to Corporal.

Mission 5: Operation Stone Spear:
The mission was to retrieve ADVENT data. Doing so will reduce the risk of Chosen appearing during operations.
Operation had resulted in a failure. ADVENT forces were able to push the squad back, and escape with the data.
Urdrim Abtahi was on the mission, and came very close to death, as at a point he was knocked unconscious, and was wounded by a nearby explosion. Luckily he was able to extract it. He will be out of combat for some time being.

Looks like my guy Urdim specializes in being promoted or nearly dyingand also his name changing in the middle of the missions xD Urdrim has a cool ring to it ngl
Also what did he extract o_O
Btw glad you were rescued xD is there backstory to how that came to be? And how you were captured?

He does really good or really bad nothing in between lol
Well you know me, grammar mistakes galore. He was able to extract to safety during the failure of the mission, so I guess ''it" was himself lol.
The backstory was essentially the commander was captured in the first war, and plopped in a time slowing stasis tank with a chip in their head running battle simulations. From there the aliens used the simulations as battle tactics against the humans and won. So the little remains of XCOM spent 20 years barely getting by, and eventually got a lead onto where their old commander was, so they sent a rescue mission.
I find it really funny that it implies out of the entire race of humanity, The Commander is literally the only person who has the battle genius to defeat the aliens. Though I suppose if we take the numbers of "races" into account, it would be like, 1.5 (humans) v 11 (aliens, not including mechanical races) so I could see the odds stacked against them, if that makes sense.

Imagine: When making hard-boiled eggs, he either makes gourmet egg (which I Googled to verify the existence of) or absolutely turns it to egg-boiled soup. Somehow.
I find that mental image way funnier than I should have xD
I feel like if this were a movie there would have been a future twist where it turns out the Commander was only able to be rescued because the aliens wanted to lure out the rest of the humans and destroy them all at once. To be fair that would be a valid military strategy :')
Btw I'm looking forward to this series :D especially it burying whatever the heck I was attempting on the 14th of February lol thank you

I would think most of his successful eggs are hard boiled or something of the sort. Since he's a soldier and all, you need a steady source of protein on the field!
Too bad they underestimate the power of mankind! Kaboom! Kapow! Bowing up all the bad guys!
You mean March 14th? Orrr?

Perfectly hard boiled eggs or egg soup. There is no in between.

Nah
You also gave me the illustration in my mind that if he's trying to boil an egg and gets egg soup, that means that the egg shell is still in that soup, and that's kinda nasty

Well, what's good egg soup without some good crunchity crunchities?

Oh my goodness. I am very sorry things late, I haven't been able to write up mission summaries as of late.
Though however I will be writing things in chronological order, or as in I'll be posting these in groups of game sessions, if that makes sense. AKA I'll bunch together all the missions I played in one sitting in one post.
Also I'll be only posting the missions with forumer characters in it, if one hasn't noticed, I've added the mission number by name.
9: Operation Hellborn Whale
We were alerted of an emergency transmission in the New Arctic zone. Upon receiving the transmission we got news of an alien retaliation attack on human resistance haven "Earth New Point".
We immediately sent a response team of 4 to push back the invaders. (I would think it would need more than 4 but you know how it is with video games) Urdim Abadti was a part of this squad of 4.
The goal of this operation was to save as many noncombatant resistance members as possible and attempt to fend off the attacking aliens.
Upon arrival, resistance forces were struggling, we were able to press some alien forces back, but additional chaos was added due to faceless infiltrators hiding among the civilians.
A request was made by higher-ups to the XCOM squad to support a group of resistance soldiers holding out within a building, in which multiple civilians were trapped inside.
The trek to the building was a rough one. One of the members of the squad was KIA by a sectoid.
Upon arrival, the situation was quite bleak. The building was being sieged by aliens and ADVENT from three ways, greatly outgunning resistance and XCOM forces. The assaulting force primarily included ADVENT Stun Lancers (or we could say peacekeeping units), Sectoids, Standard ADVENT Troopers, and...
The situation worsened when Faceless infiltrators had revealed themselves within the complex, killing civilians, and losses began to show through. Resistance combatants were completely purged from the building, and an XCOM squad member was severely wounded, leaving only two XCOM operators to hold down the fort. Miraculously, the two operators were able to do so.
While the mission was considered a failure due to the heavy civilian losses and eventual abandonment from Earth New Point, our operators displayed great acts of bravery and skill. Separating themselves from the crowd, rescuing a great deal of the civilians despite their situation.
Out of the two brave operators, Urdim was one of them. He has shown his bravery and skill and has been promoted to Sergeant (aka he gained enough xp to lvl up). He even carried the wounded XCOM operator to safety.

Yep. No I between. Literally today he keeps this track record
Tbh, for some mission, they're pretty smooth, but for others they are quite rocky.

It's like an egg--be the yolk, or the egg white. There is no in between. Hitan is staring at me weirdly lol
You misspelling his name is also a meme, keep it up. xD
He kept it? Might I ask if he was promoted or didn't die when he was nearly killed?
Looks like Egg Man reflects the general nature of missions, then.
