Someone's EN voice also blew me out of the water but I kinda forgot who it was.
Too many outstanding dub voices lol.
But I will say that I love Thorns' stressed Spanish yelling, again.

I think the funniest part of my job is the blatantly racist old white men
The vibes are just so clear. They hate my guts from the moment they lay their eyes on me but they have to go through me. They act the exact same way no matter whether they see you on the street or when they need a service from you
The most extreme one so far (and I am a newbie so maybe this will be updated, hopefully not though) was a dude today, who came up to me and just glared. I asked how I could help. Dude just stared at me like I can't understand the language he speaks (English??). Then he spoke after I asked him to wait in another line if he didn't have anything he needed from me (after an awkward 20 seconds), got his items, tried to give me a papercut by trying to yank something I was holding, and then left lol.
Btw he spoke as fast as possible and mumbled while looking me dead in the eyes, probably to try to get me to admit I couldn't understand or provoke me into becoming frustrated with him or something, but I just ignored that.
Another honorable mention is a dude who I swear is an anime antagonist. He looks like a good old man but his eyes are full of evil. Idk how else to describe it. I think he would shoot me in the head if he had the chance and then go to brunch with his friends.
Oh and I must say that some customers are super nice. They completely outnumber the blatantly racist old white men, which I think means I'm in a good community.

Favorite part of being a noob is when customers start telling me how horrible things are for them today and I just stand there in my social ineptitude (and inability to multitask on unfamiliar tasks) like "oh man. So sorry you had to go through that" in the most deadpan voice (I actually do care tho)
Somehow the caring conveys through and then it becomes a tad bit too personal maybe.

I love Thorns' dialogue. again
Mentioning this 'cause I set him as my assistant and his Idle dialogue is so sweet AAAA I wanna give him a hug.
I think he might not really let me, but hey.
I love my weird Spanish swordsman/alchemist who tries so hard to be all serious and calculating but is kinda silly.
I would hug most of the people on this landship tbh

I do hope I can get OG Thorns one day
I thought he was a girl when I started the game kinda wanted him from the starter banner but then didn't get him
Last time I did Mizuki's IS with him and then failed because I did not have enough air damage for the boss fight (probably months or even a year ago),,, not my proudest moment
Doesn't even compare to that one time I got Elysium for free on an IS and then hecking Died on the first floor (because he's a Flagbearer and I did not have enough Block lol)

I also got Weedy once in IS5 and then Failed using her too on that one level where cannon firing peeps come out from the right side, nuke you, and then start running toward the Objective Point
For that one, if you don't get a healing Defender or Executor Specialist, you're kinda screwed...on top of other requirements like aerial damage. Ahaha (laugh of pain)

It's been 2 weeks and the manager is trying out gaslighting on shifts
They really be ignoring everything I say about my availability while trying to make me take in a lot of overtime in the name of teamwork
Obviously this is all within expectations.
Maybe we deserve our 2 star review on Yelp is what I'm thinking. lol (/j, I think we deserve it but not because of the people who actually review on Yelp)

Had an SS dream and was inspired to write for the AU
I sincerely regret all my decisions.
Speaking of which, one of my decisions was to start playing an otome game...that isn't Hakuouki since I'd have to pay for Hakuouki (well this decision was because of a song or two. The usual)
I'm kinda interested in seeing how toxic things are and also how the writers write and space out stuff. So far I think it's pretty interesting. I kinda cringe at how fast things are progressing in the relationships department, but I could see this being inspirational for writing, maybe. Plus the premise is genuinely pretty interesting, even if it's obviously just there for marketing. Writing is just like that sometimes, so why not?
Anyways I chose the blond guy with Problems (his art is the best idk. What can I say)
I keep giving him just the most commonsensical responses and apparently there are no wrong choices in this lol. Then again, it's an otome game...idk what I'm expecting. But anyways, it's fun. He has like 5 trigger warnings at the start of his route. Okay, so this WILL be fun.
Btw rephrased, I chose a guy who reminds me of Hitan, who has a friend who reminds me of Rai, which is probably kinda messed up. I love toxic (platonic) relationships that are symbolically relevant and somewhat functional but will probably crash and burn in the long run (hi Run and Wave)
-Galaxian-
Offline
Run and Wave are probably genuinely functional, it's just Run can't let go of his goals (justifiably, he's been working toward them for his entire adult life after all) and Wave is too oblivious and naive ('cause he's Wave). So in the end, the friendship is deprioritized, or perhaps it's because Run is friends with Wave that he continues protecting his friend's innocence, and yep, and everything goes to crap.
Even with all that, it's much better (and healthier) than some other relationships that I've seen in fiction, so that's kinda why I love it so much. Doomed friendship trope. But I do think that there's an element of toxicity in it coming from Run's end. It still fits, though. He's a teacher after all, and Wave is around 7 years younger than him. Plus, maybe he doesn't want Wave to see the darker side of the empire with his own eyes, because of his own experiences.
Is it toxic, or is just overprotective? I'm not sure, but there's definitely a degree of deceit going on.
Oh yeah, I would say it's probably toxic how he keeps stopping Wave from beating up Wild Hunt because Wave doing so would go against his own goals. When I think about it from Run's POV, ofc I pity him for having to swallow all that rage. But when I look at it from Wave's point of view, oh boy, oh boy. Man.
...ok, so maybe I like the trope a bit too much.

I will also add that I don't think that someone should give up their dreams for a friend, romantic partner, or family member, though obviously in Run's case his "dream" is one that ends up being his demise, and evaluating that sort of dream becomes a whole new can of worms
I think this is why I love Honghong and Dongfang Yuechu's dynamic so much (and ig also, Bai Yuechu and Susu's), because such a huge element of their story is the intertwining of "pre-existing stories and desires" and the new story that they're writing together
I think the dialogue from Dongfang Yuechu on how the Yaoxian jie-jie he fell in love with is the one with her pre-existing traumas, insecurities, and flaws, and so in the end he is not competing against any of the traits that already define her but rather to become a shining star in her heart--encapsulates that the best.
That does make me wonder, does that mean Susu--who is Honghong without her traumas and memories, and dreams of becoming the best matchmaker rather than to protect Tushan--is really Honghong in the end? Maybe I'm on something, hmm? (on "needs to go sleep rn" /j)

I like how half of my favorite characters are as thin as a plank
Every time I draw Run I remember how that one chapter cover of him makes his shoulders look wide...because he's wearing two outfits at the same time :skull: (also carrying a dagger on him somewhere in between those layers)

I also enjoy how I can't be bothered to pull up a proper reference for my own characters half of the time but every time I (try to) draw Run I pull up 150 images on the same canvas for some reason.

I think this is the 4th time I've thought of drawing Ambryll but then did a 180 and immediately went back to Run.

Nono you see Hitan's side profiles always have him staring at you while Run's are dramatic and melancholic...they are different characters

I do feel like it's almost cathartic how differently Hitan and Run express their emotions
As soon as I can start drawing Run properly...well, I will have to learn how to draw Hitan properly. But then, I will start doing comparisons for the funnies
You see, I think it's funny to imagine them in the same universe slightly twinning but also not.
They just look weirdly similar down to the same feather accessory for some reason (no chest window for Hitan tho lol)

Turns out if you tick Run off enough and ruin his hairstyle and pretend he isn't blond you get a guy who looks eerily close to Oberon
I think this is better Oberon fanart than what I've actually tried for Oberon.

I kinda hate how the moment I get distracted Run becomes some weird amalgamation of himself but with Ambryll's hair style and Rai's absolute smugness
On the other hand I am drawing him soooo much better than even a few months ago so that's an absolute win
Hey Rai, why are you more like Run than Hitan, huh?
-Galaxian-
Offline
The difference is that if Run and Hitan met they would probably unintentionally make each other's story go in a worse direction (as much as I love fantasizing about Hitan helping Run, this is probably more realistic), whereas if Run and Rai get together then I think there's a fair chance of them helping each other.
Well ok, idk about Rai, but I think if he doesn't have too much stuff going on for him, he'd at least be like "this is not a good time for a murder spree man bro, it is literally the full moon today...remember Enshin's Teigu stipulations"
I never can really tell how Run would react if you tried to stop him in earnest that night. Like what if Kurome told him to stop for some reason. Would he stop. I think not but then I can't tell what he would do after that. tfw AgK!'s plot is written like the authors have a Death Note for the characters
-Galaxian-
Offline
Another interesting difference is that if Hitan were to get in a fight with someone like Run, he goes straight for closing the distance, even if that means getting hit some in the process
Well, anyways, that's assuming supernatural physiology and a pre-existing relationship, otherwise he snipes.
Meanwhile Rai immediately goes for cover (I think) which doesn't help with stopping Run physically. Dude can just fly off. What would you even do then? Run after him? sorry

Randomly remembering how that one time I thought, "Run looks nice in a suit, so do you look nice in Run's clothes...Rai?" and then bro got forced to switch his wardrobe and the answer is...the thought of Rai with a chest window is extremely cursed. Noped.
I actually did try out the chest window. Unfortunately I sort of lost all my sanity at that moment, so...anyways, Rai looks good with a coat and knee-high boots, just not everything else. Also Run wears his own winter coat the best, duh.
