Re: Cosmic Dim. (V. XVIII), You're Correct but You're Not Right

I don't remember how Unity is, but iirc I was not impressed.
The Aquarians be making either the best or the most questionable friend choices.

To Degel's credit, at least he and Kardia seem pretty much equal. Camus kinda just died on Milo...and then betrayed Athena on Milo..and then betrayed Athena on Milo (non-canonically but he 100% would do it canonically)...at least other than that they have tons of fanfiction. Mostly because the fandom thinks the Gold Saints are gay. Except for Aiolia. Aiolia isn't gay, he's accidentally shipped illegally with a minor 4 years younger than him.

I'm more of a Camus guy myself (have great friends but am horrible)

Re: Cosmic Dim. (V. XVIII), You're Correct but You're Not Right

Also just to be clear, I understand where Camus is coming from. Okay maybe not on Cosmo understanding 'cause I don't know jackcrap about it, but I do feel like growing up over here means I had to go through the "emotions not so good, logick gud" phase. The West loves logic (but also commits war crimes following certain paths of logic, so...)
Maybe it's 'cause I'm not smart enough to logic through logic.
The phase was comparatively short, but sometimes when dealing with emotions I regress to it a lil and have to pull myself back.

If y'all know of a good offline whiteboard app please let me know, I am going insane (it's not for me it's for my mom lol)
Preferably it's just easy to write with on a touchscreen, and you can select different strokes by clicking and dragging or just clicking. Ink colors are optional

(I would recommend she use drawing apps but she would get overwhelmed by there being too many options)

Re: Cosmic Dim. (V. XVIII), You're Correct but You're Not Right

I wonder if culturally it's accurate for the Middle East and Egypt to think of time the way the event presented it?
I think it's interesting because in Chinese culture, of course there's the theme of human transience, but typically the world as a whole is depicted as eternal. Whereas if Egypt and the Middle East characterize water as being eternal while the earth itself shifts and falls away...idk, that's profound to me too, but that also feels oddly satisfying in that it's kinda accurate with moving tectonic plates and all that.
I suppose you could make the argument that even though the earth is always moving, it's been around longer than water has. Meanwhile, planets that can't harbor life still have "earth" to them. So in that sense, earth is more eternal and enduring than water.
That's really getting into technicalities though lol.

Re: Cosmic Dim. (V. XVIII), You're Correct but You're Not Right

Update: I think I can finally draw Run, or at least start to.
The moment I can, I swear I am drawing him and Hitan and Rai having a Meeting. I think it would be funny, since there's no way Rai with his sussity vibes isn't heavily, although unconsciously, influenced by my impression of Run. I mean if in no other way then it'd be the fact that he debuted as a supposed villain and kinda just...veered off course...

The other day I started pondering an AU where Run lives in Madoka Magica's world and adopts Mami. I am really not sane (but LOOK, it is not a bad idea, it is not) (he dies somehow for plot purposes and things get worse immediately...he becomes part of the tragic backstory moment??)
I saw yesterday that the Spanish wiki for AgK! describes his plot chapter with "a certain member of the Jaegers loses all sense of rationality in pursuit of an old grudge" and I felt as impressed as I was slapped across the face with a wet fish. Yeah, that's really accurate.

Fun fact, I would 100% believe Run actually seduced Joyou's mayor, but for fun sometimes I like to imagine that he just went on dates with her and won her over to the point where she wanted to marry him and then thought he did something immoral. And I mean, he kinda did, but mostly he kinda just manipulated her emotions and stole her Teigu for something that he likely perceived as being her fault in part. Anyhow, this entire half-conjecture is mostly 'cause I like to imagine Run was also an orphan and didn't have that much education himself. Also it goes along with his reaction to interrupting Wave and Kurome's moment. The reaction was weirdly innocent and it seemed really genuine as well...plus you have to admit, he definitely gets along more with the younger members of the Jaegers than the older ones despite being solidly in the middle.
I'm not gonna say this is really my headcanon though; it's very much more so in joke territory. I don't want to say that my favorite characters are just innocent characters who did no wrong, because that's infantilizing them and I don't want to do that. As a matter of fact, they often make just the worst decisions, but they're interesting because of it.

The thing about Run is that you can ask me which smiles of his are genuine and then I will utterly destroy myself analyzing that single thing

Re: Cosmic Dim. (V. XVIII), You're Correct but You're Not Right

Lol it really looked at me claiming I can draw Run now and said "No you can't"
I will fistfight you @computer. That folder has like a year of stuff on it. Most of it being the SS AU. You can't take it away from me

Anyways, I was gonna say that appearance-wise, Run reminds me more of Xuqiao than Hitan or Rai. I feel like I consider the same things when drawing the two of them, whereas for Hitan and Rai I consider another set of things. I also think his emoting (as in his facial features and their visual change while he expresses different expressions/emotions?) is more elegant than either Hitan or Rai. Though, they emote the way my characters do, so that's my bad.
His appearance is very elegant in general. Everything about him screams purposeful to me. He's definitely the sort of person who considers the way he presents himself, the different mannerisms he puts out, his choice of gestures, etc. Which makes it even funnier for me when he lets little details slip or is less graceful about things. It's kinda one of his biggest charm points imo.
I'm still unfathomably biased toward his winter design. His outfit is the absolute best imo. It fits him so well and is so pretty and...idk. I just love it so much. And then I love his haircut as well. My favorite part of it is the shorter ends around his neck, because they remind me of a bird's pin feathers.

Anyways let's hope I can draw his normal design as well (I still think even the animators weren't sure how to draw him. He is so hecking funny for this even though it has 'caused me a decade of agony by now)

Re: Cosmic Dim. (V. XVIII), You're Correct but You're Not Right

I really appreciate how my mom didn't judge me for favoriting some handsome teacher dude who will mutilate someone for his students (and yes she knows all of Run's crimes, I made sure to describe and analyze in detail various times)
Sometimes I randomly go into this sort of brainrot phase and I tell her and she's like "Oh well guess it's that time of...time of...year?...again" and it's kinda just a thing that I do lol.

I do think that it's easy to judge Run from the audience's perspective, but his morality is much more realistic when you consider his personal circumstances and the setting as a whole. I mean, you could always make an argument on "why doesn't he defect?" when things get rough, and I often think that too, but tell me, why on earth would he throw away a relatively stable position in the Empire to join the Rebellion? Yes, it's morally superior in the audience's eyes, but there are just so many more factors involved. For instance:
-Convenience: Run is able to work closer to his true objectives while being a part of the Jaegers, mostly because the other members seem to be deployed much more actively compared to him. Since he's Esdeath's second-in-command, he seems mostly to be relegated tasks that need administrative and investigative skills. In other words, he's able to remain in a high position of authority and look into the events of the past as part of his job, which isn't something you'd really be able to do while being a part of a rogue army. In the first place, you would have many other responsibilities, like being a spy or general combat.
-Stability. You generally have better odds working with the current system than against it. For all I know, the Revolutionary Army was mostly carried by Night Raid lmiao. And this is also part of my headcanon that if Run was around 18 when he initially enlisted, then 5 years ago, there was no way that the Revolutionary Army was a reliable choice, if it even existed (there isn't a solid timeline so I'm not sure). It was just too risky, and probably hard to access from a rural, "relatively affluent" area like Joyou's region, which would have less reason to be involved with any of that. Going along with that:
-Morality: The revolution isn't always totally superior. AgK! Zero demonstrates a pretty egregious example of such. Of course, this is about to go into real world discussions again (as I was about to say, you can always argue that a side will have its impurities), but I imagine 5 years ago, whatever small imperfections in the present were even worse, so there wasn't really a "better" or "worse" choice then.

Me when I say my favorite characters can do wrong but then offering them practical reasons for their actions (no but seriously I do love their flaws, but I still think Run is one of the more logical characters in terms of what courses of action he's taken up until this point, and I think that if he weren't as attached to people like Wave and Kurome and had a character on Night Raid's side who really spoke to him hello Leone? maybe? They were clearly created as contrasts, though it wasn't really shown in the manga, I think defection wouldn't be out of the question for him)

Re: Cosmic Dim. (V. XVIII), You're Correct but You're Not Right

This close to analyzing everything related to torture for him, and btw the answer is "YES", I would personally help him dissect the entirety of Wild Hunt (except Cosmina, as some of you may know I have my reasons towards, who I will just send to an institution)

Not that I think Run and I would get along IRL. I don't know. I never think about me and him ever, it's always Hitan and him (or Rai and him at times)

Anywho it really was less about making myself sound lowkey morally bankrupt and more so something about his morality, again. Like analyzing how he tends to kill those designated as his enemies to contrast against his view on torture...but rn all I can think of are the bandits, his attempts on Akame, and also maybe people post-resurrection? I don't remember if their bodies were shown though
(this is not helping me sound less morally bankrupt)

Re: Cosmic Dim. (V. XVIII), You're Correct but You're Not Right

The moment I'm sure I can draw Run I am flooding the internet with fanart that will quickly ruin his reputation because of the quality of said fanart
The thing is, I can 100% see myself as being that one dude who is just known for being that maniac who draws Run for some reason.

Btw he should be safe, since I can never finish my art. But the moment I can change that, he should be in fear. Not that I think he'd be much ruffled.
Joking this entire post btw, I daren't. I probably will end up drawing more Run stuff than anyone else even if I don't show anything though, unless I haven't found an extreme Run fan out there yet by some chance. It's always possible. People are crazy (I am a people)

I think if I were to make actual fanart of him it would have to either be very on-point thematically (meaning I would have to learn how to draw...other things...fear...), or with other people. Like Wave and Kurome! One day I will draw him at their wedding in an alternate universe where nothing bad happened ever. And Champ got ran over by an elephant on a tricycle.

Re: Cosmic Dim. (V. XVIII), You're Correct but You're Not Right

I like how whenever I go into something, I usually have a general sense of expectation for what I'll get out of it. LB 7 hasn't been the exception

I'm part of the group that's like "RAHHHHH CAMAZOTZ WHEN". Well, I'm not that fixated on having him summonable just yet, but I probably will be just for reasons. 2 years back, I saw that he and Nitrocris have very connected character arcs, and I thought that would probably be the most enjoyable part of the Lostbelt. Lo and behold, 2 years later I was right on the money.
Of course, there are a lot of other enjoyable parts. I love the deinos, the map is interesting, and Izcalli...has an interesting thing going on as well. Not sure if you could call it an arc. But so far I've enjoyed Camazotz and Nitocris the most. They just build off each other so well. And as a matter of fact, I am purposefully delaying fighting Camazotz so I can read the current section again. Camazotz isn't handled perfectly, especially with the pacing of critical reveals relating to his lore and characters, but I love how goofy he is. And in the midst of the goofiness there is a profound sense of sadness and tragedy in his insanity. I do feel like in this world there are at least 3 Lostbelt kings, each of them representing a part of time, and undeniably he is one of them, whose defeat will be symbolic of more than just the salvation of the million-year-old bat king who's held on for so long by his lonesome.
the favorite color joke got me in shambles. Peak humor. Btw, his favorite colors are very good. I approve.

Btw it became obvious that Izcalli is probably the famous emperor of the Aztec who "doomed his people" through his interactions with the Spanish Conquistadores--Moctezuma II. F/GO has been offering an interesting interpretation of his character, I'll give it that. (Then again it really just said the Central American gods are like fungus spores so idk what I was expecting. Fate takes are so funny)

One thing I'll say about Fate myths. Sure, you laugh at the Olympian gods being space robots or the Mayan gods being spores that can coalesce Earth's landmass into a supercontinent, but does that make any less sense than what the religions say? That a god created the world, or the world hatched from an egg? I thought not. Technically there is more rationalization going on in this world than there is in mythology, no doubt 'cause there's more modern information being taken into account. Maybe one day it too will be factored into religious studies on the interpretation of available information and conjured beliefs (or believed conjectures, have it either way).

Rn she's only at E2.33, which is slightly unfortunate, but I think she'll definitely help me out a lot. I'll need to work on modules too, though. Plus skill specialization. Zuo Le getting overworked there (he keeps having to train people who have nothing to do with swordplay...Master of Everything for real)

One more E2 and I'll fill the screen with E2s. I'll share the current roster when the moment comes. It's pretty funny. I need more ranged operators at E2 though, and rn I'm kinda struggling at planning there. I think I mainly need a really good Caster, maybe? Not sure.

Love how in HYXHN Yang Mie got back his clothes and hairstyle but is still autistic (he wasn't like this his past life, idk what happened either)

Like even if you asked forum!Hitan "what would Wiley think of you doing this" he would at least stop chewing a rubber band to consider it, and probably reply, and that'll take him 5 seconds maybe. Helge will just say "idk" and then swallow the entire aspirin bottle within the span of a millisecond

Re: Cosmic Dim. (V. XVIII), You're Correct but You're Not Right

Hey y'all, I'm super busy and so will probably be pretty inactive (though I try to login and spam so I don't go into permanent Spectator Mode lol). I'm not mad or sad or dying, just extraordinarily incompetent
Mentioning that I'm not sad 'cause for some reason people--like total random strangers--keep asking me if I'm okay. I am okay for now, I dunno why people keep asking me this
Turns out when you're (I'm) super busy I have no time to get nostalgic. And btw that is a lie, I heard Eine Kleine today and there was a stanza where it was like, "You know I always will be grateful I had met / And I had lived with you / And yet, as time goes on and older we grow, it feels a little sad too" and unfortunately I thought a little too much about it in that little tiny instant. I guess I really never change.

Anyways, ironically I was only spurred to remember to post today 'cause I dreamt of Run yesterday night. He is truly a role model. Life changes, the world spins, but Run is always there in my head dominating a lot of my thoughts whenever I am learning a lot of stuff. Like honestly isn't it wholesome how in a modern AU everyone occupies a slightly different role, but he's just a teacher? It's his entire purpose in life and I appreciate that so much.

Unrelated to my love of Run, also wishing y'all a belated Happy Lunar New Year by now, and also happy belated birthday to a certain Smirkster whose birthday coincided with the occasion. I actually started an early draft for a gift for him this year but then got run over by obligations. Yeah, there isn't really a point to mentioning this.
As per the universe's Not-Quad Squad universal law/policies, I have the urge to draw them when I am the busiest, so I'm getting run over by that :-P thanks guys (as in. the Not-Quad Squad. Not you guys. I'm not being passive-aggressive toward you guys)
Oh yeah also hopefully SS's Silver Saint roster is getting filled soon...at least halfway full, maybe? Currently Mana (Manai, if you know her, and by that I mean @Specter) is hard carrying the intelligence quotient which is slightly concerning...at least this way there's slightly less trauma being processed (lying here, it just means all the trauma is being channeled toward specific people which probably isn't good)
