Today I started my next story to read: Stella of the End.
2nd visual novel that I will be reading. My inital thoughts?
Last of Us Part 1 but instead it's in a sci fi post apocalypse world.
And nothing wrong with that. I think mailmen/messengers/couriers are some of the interesting and coolest jobs you could have in a post apocalypse world.
Plus, while I don't know the quality of the story (I assume it's good bc visual novels have to have good story to succeed yk), my inital gut feeling was: "This shit gonna make me cry isn't it."
And mind you I have never cried at any story.
I theorize thar it's because of one of the MCs. The "cargo" of the pair. Philia. She's an android trying to learn about what it means to be human. What emotions are, etc.
Idk if I've every explicitly said it, but guess what is one of my favorite character archetypes.

Tangent time!
Why are visual novels so associated with weeb stuff? Yeah I know many have an anime aesthetic, but they're really just books with fancy noises and visuals that you click through.
I feel like if I were an author I wouldn't mind trying to write one of these and see how I like it or not. That's because I kinda like the format. Paragraphs that never get really wordy. Dialogue that's easier to read, visuals, etc.

Random ass thought but
Dawg never play vgm in public bro nevvver do that ik it's fire it is but nevvver do it 😭😭😭 you'll get flamed. If you're gonna play something you better have a tip of the iceberg song that can blend in with the others.
I haven't done it personally cuz I can learn from others, but I know for a fact they'll make fun of you no matter who you are

When the world goes Detroit become human or whatever, I'd like to think that I'd be one of the people who would advocate for AI rights or something idk
Because I think it would be cool.
Unless if the AIs are trying to kill off humanity idk about that

Tbh if we screwed up so bad that the objects of our innovation and creativity start trying to blast us to oblivion, I say we help them.

I think I'd help them because I love stories about people finding their emotions and what it means to have humanity. AIs, immortals, etc.
That's a stupid reason that doesn't see the reality of the world but still.
But I did kinda just say that one way or another a few posts on this homethread back.

Ex? My another story that I am actively reading: Frieren, Beyond Journey's End. I'm also watching it too. It's about regret, memories, and coming to understand and cherish relationships between people.
Maybe I'll write about it later when I finish it. Just picked it up like... two days ago?
I want to catch up, but it seems I there is a roadblock on the site that I'll be reading it on. They're working on like... idk redoing or backing up the chapters or something? So even if I continue on, there may be a small wait time for me, which is fine.

Really, what a coincidence, I came across the anime OP two days ago. I thought Frieren looked kinda like your style of characters xD.

Really? Can I ask how so?
I will admit tho you got me, that I overall like Frieren's design and character too.
Online!
Of course.
-For some reason, I associate you with elf ears and (separately) white, both of which are characteristics that Freiren's design has. Regarding the latter aspect, I feel like you might be the sort of person who values the symbolism of the color. It feels like one of those things where you recognize it's simple and even obvious/commonplace (purity of character, innocence, etc.) but still has profound meaning for you. Also no, there is no explanation for the elf ears part. Probably just a fantasy genre attribution. (I do feel like you and Eliza are the ones most likely to have characters with elf ears.)
-It's hard not to attribute your style of characters to the "trying to understand emotions" and "is someone who feels strong emotions but does not express it" patterns. Kinda obvious but your GGaD persona is a great example, and I think the trend can be seen on your art thread too. It seems to reflect your thoughts on the topic.
-The style of the series kinda makes me think of your art. There's a certain sense of familiarity that felt instinctual.
-Then there's the DND vibe. She's an adventurer. With a cloak! And she does magic/is a spellcaster! Kinda the obvious one, haha.
Disclaimer: These are just presumptions. They very well may not be related to reality at all. They're just results of my perspective. But hey looky, I got the general idea right. xD

Huh you did hit a few good points
- I do enjoy symbolism and color symbolism on designs. Your little chat about the color white also made me realize for my characters' hair, they're all usually natural colors + white
- elf ears are a nice accessory for characters. I actually like them.
- That's true. I forgot like a lot of the recent personal characters on the art thread follow that path. The pattern is really showing huh 😭
- Nice. Thank you for the comparison. I would say I like the art style too.
- The spellcaster thing also sorta fits too huh... wow ok then
You got it pretty good. How did you do that?? I do realize the list sorta is a hybrid of what I asked, and why you were reminded of me, but still, how??

Actually scratch the hair thing, I'm not opposed to characters with dark blue or red (as in actual red not ginger) hair

Oops, thanks for asking that. That was a hole in my answer. I realized I forgot to elaborate that for me, everyone's "style of character" is extremely linked with their preferences, thoughts, personality, etc. So when I said "Frieren felt like your style of character," I meant what I saw on her design (appearance and personality-wise) matched my impressions of the things you like to incorporate in your own characters and/or tend to notice/analyze when it comes to others' characters.
Basically I'm just a boss at analyzing my friends, praise me B)
(jk obviously, most of the things I mention are probably super obvious or smthn lol)

You had me thinking once again and I'm going to correct this for future me or whatever - I think while I like the style overall, I enjoy the painterly feel of the colored pages in the manga. Imo the coloring in the anime is kinda bland, but I also understand that the lighting and coloring aligns with the story that is trying to be told.

As to the actual response
Oh that makes sense. I mean characters are in a way somewhat an extension of the person who creates them. Generally when someone creates a character, I think they include a lot of stuff they want to see happen or enjoy seeing in other characters for sure.
You are amazingly aware Galaxian. I think that oftentimes, we know that someone cares for another not always just by simple words of caring, but through knowledge. What they like to eat, what's their favorite color, what would they think in such a situation. Of course, while not knowing someone's favorite color does NOT equate whether you care about a person or not, it is moreso the effort that such knowledge of a person is committed into memory.
How is that for praising?

I'm not very familiar with the story, but I got that vibe from the OP too, where there's nothing especially spectacular happening in the visuals and in the song itself because the journey is supposedly already over? Dunno how accurate that is, but yeah.
Ahaha, I made the joke but can't seem to register the consequence (the compliments). Lemme just shrivel up here. Ahaha.
Yeah, uhm, thank you very much for that. Somehow I expected you to respond that way but also didn't expect you to actually respond that way. It really is impressive how you tied that to a greater thematic idea (caring). :D

I mean, stuff does happen, yeah, but it's not really the frontline. Moreso as a tool to explore or fuel character relationships instead. While a part of the hook is that "the journey is already over", I'd say a lot of things are just beginning. Including a new journey. And character arcs. And other stuff.
I think I was saying I prefered the manga coloring over the anime lighting and coloring because it's more painterly and warm, or something like that. I was about to go further into explaining why I give it a pass, but maybe that might be something for my writing thread. Since it could probably be combined with other topics.
Yeah, I honestly would have never said that because I probably wouldn't know what to say, and also that was a bunch of Frieren tomfoolery that I just spouted.

That's why I was asking for a proactive one
But anyways things be slightly more chill now lets see if I can bounce back with activity
First starting off. A topic I know you guys don't really know about:
You know, I've been thinking about Limbus Company, or overall the Lob Corp Universe, or the PM universe, whatever it's called. I am considering playing all the games and looking into a few books so I can get as much lore as I need.
The only thing I heard is that the other games I haven't played yet have a vertical learning curve. One's a managements sim, the other is a deck builder.
Ishmael's chapter is coming out soon next month, so I think I should crank out what I have on character analysis for her just for fun and see how she changes in her chapter. Maybe do a compare and contrast... idk.

totally random but I notice that I'm intaking a lot of eastern media rn.
And no I don't mean like, the Classical Novels of Chinese literature or whatever Galaxian is talking about. (Though I heard those things are verry long)
I'm talking about like, manga, anime, videogames with eastern studios, etc.
idk, I'm ok with it, but I'd like to have a more varied platter. I don't want to be identified as someone who is just like "OMG JAPAN" you know? Plus, I'd like to read some older texts as well just to vary myself even more.
I think I need to create a full list of everything that I am actively reading, playing, and watching and just create an organized backlog.

Idk what you're talking about. For instance, an English translation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms has a mere 120 chapters, which only takes an estimated 39 hours to read.
