alternative idea for dust picking off people: it starts with the people closest to the flowers. because that would add much more time to the challenge, and scare everybody approaching because there's Something killing challengers violently
That could work. Start with the people with the most potential to the flower? Or those attempting to cross the wall?

there's a wall now?
i was thinking more like. the people closest to beating the current challenge. like how in mario kart the top three get screwed over by shells and lightnings from their lower ranked compatriots
Offline
dust takes the first group or two to beat the challenge and then lets everybody else through

Yeah I established that there was a wall + monsters near the base of the mountains so people can't continue without the flower's blessing or smth
But Dust can definitely attack the first few groups (whether or not they're pcs or npcs) and just generally attack and hunt people.

dust voice i am going to punch you, hit you, or harm you in some way.

Ok ideas for Fang, Flare, and Crimson's tasks
Crimson: Make sure he cannot pass forward.
Fang: Watch over her. Make sure she passes forward.
Flare: ... maybe the same as Fang? Maybe?
My explanations for these tasks:
I want to capitalize on Crimson being injured as a plot point. Sorry Zane, but I thought it would give Fang and Flare more time to shine as they protect him
I chose Fang's task as while I do know that Flare is Crimson's right hand man and advisor, idk really what Fang does. So I just thought it would be interesting to see what happens if she's up in the mountains w/o Crimson if whoever gets Crimson's task succeeds.
To be honest the same applies to Flare, but I do not really know what to add to Flare... maybe the same task as Fang? That would be interesting.

perhaps the character challenges should begin soon? i stopped paying attention to the other domain thread though, so i dunno when they are.
Offline
Yeah tbh let us get on with that. I'm gonna start the other thread back up
Offline
idea for when the challenges begin: when everybody goes to sleep, the flowers send a dream message out to each contestant to tell them how to earn the blessing of flowers. perhaps through rhyme, if it feels right for that sort of cryptic thing
Offline
Oh well uhhh the thing is I already sent out the tasks/requests in the thread. It was something similar. Like a vision
Since the thread with Lycaon is a few hours ahead, I'm just working with the assumption that people already know of it somewhat. Like, most are keeping it a secret, but still.
I'd say also some people have requests given while others do not.
Offline
ah. i should look at the other thread more often
Offline
No worries. That idea of a dream would have been quite thematic.

hey i just thought of a devious plan. dust knows crimson is there, and will need marsh to cause harm to plausibly get lycaon/itself to move forward. dust does not like crimson. crimson is already planned to be pushed out of the tournament or at least threatened to be. dust is very good at making people aggressive and angry, what with its generally bad attitude and also maddening howl. dust tricks marsh into assaulting crimson?
Offline
Devious ahhh mf
Arcan is currently hesitant of pushing Crimson out of the tournament, even though it's her task. I agree I think lots of dramatic activities can come out of this...
Offline
and crimson still has to find the secret of ozark's arm on top of that

crimson's getting the worst hand here huh

I'm sorry Crimson 😭😭😭
But don't worry don't worry thinks might work out and stuff
Uhhh the in lore reason is that the flowers don't want no inter-dimensional dude chilling around.
Offline
Ok so Haze...
I dunno, dude, I do like a wrench in the plans, but I think it would be weird with a dude running around that has no task, plus one at deity level.
So, here is my idea, right? Ain't Haze a "master illusionist?"
And don't the tasks only affect people who are actively able to actually win the flower? Aka, people who are actually in the domain?
What if the Haze in the domain isn't actually Haze, but some sort of transmission? He won't be able to fight, and he's mostly only limited to the transmission. I think it makes things a lot more interesting.
Also, I'm looking for a bit of a time skip... maybe to sometime when it's dark? Because Lycaon has been wandering around as of late, and it would be nice for him to come back while keeping everything chronologically sound.

speaking of, i think it'd be fun to put a little blood on dance the dance floor. i am suggesting murder.
now hear me out on this. if an npc competitor kills another one, or one just gets killed to fuel dust's rampage, that will cause lots of paranoia methinks. makes people less willing to share their tasks, because what if somebody else's task is the opposite, and they decide the easiest way to move on is to disqualify the people who are trying to stop them?
it will also split people up, since npcs and player characters are less likely to group up if y'know one of them might stab the rest in the back and leave them out to dry.

Honestly, sounds good.
I'm guessing that this would be something done in broad daylight as well, or at least out in the open

either that or just like. somebody gets got in an alleyway at night and the white cloaks find their body in the morning or somethin
Offline
That sounds like a Lycaon moment kinda ngl.

So to summarize the planning thread that me and Zane had if you haven't read it
Haze is an illusionist who doesn't specialize in combat, but will fight if need be. His current goals are unrelated to the Flower, and is trying to take some important items from the rest of Zane's group.
Due to this, he is mostly a neutral member. You are free to work with Haze and try and get him on your side to do things as long as you are able to convince him, of course.
Lastly, Haze is really there. He was able to break through the barrier via magic that is alien to Forengard (Arithnian magic). However, the barrier was able to quickly adapt after Haze passed through. He's locked in here for now. Plus, the flowers might look into suppressing this intruder's magic if it can.
