Smoke billows out of a 70s Kitchen-Cookie's Homethread

*Furiously beating out a pan of flaming black crisps* Oh, hi. I would offer you a cookie but, errr, no cookies today.
Anyways I guess this will be where I'll post random things about my life, and plan a little bit (or think 'out loud')

College is weird. And I am terrible at making friends with my fellow peers. It doesn't help that I can't remember their names.

It's been so long since I've tried to Rp. I'm probably going to be super rusty. But I have been working on my writing skills since I last roleplayed.

I've been thinking about eventually getting an ESA. But not sure if a cat or dog would be best.

*Munches on a black crisp*

@Time. Yep, it's been an interesting experience. Roommates are odd creatures.

Hmmm.... I should be practicing right now, but I feel too lazy to.

And I wonder why I'm not getting anywhere.

EEEEEEEeEEEEEE. I just ordered a new record! I'm excited for it. Encanto, though it doesn't have the instrumental parts from the rest of the movie. I'll be picking it up tomorrow.

a record? You have a record player?

Tell me. What makes a record player so superior than the standard music playing devices?

Re: Smoke billows out of a 70s Kitchen-Cookie's Homethread

Yup, a vinyl record. I do have a record player, not the best model but it does what I want it too.

Well, it depends on what media you are using and what time period the record comes from. But a vinyl tends to have a higher quality 'sound file' compared to your average digital track, especially if you are listening to the music on a free platform. But new vinyl records (ex. Taylor Swift, or Billie Eilish) tend to be about the same as their digital file counterparts.  Due to the fact that they are basically just a printed plastic version of the digital tracks. Records tend to have a warmer (homely) quality to them and don't sound as compressed as digital files can be.  Records aren't really superior per say, but they sure are an experience, one which I like enough to want to collect vinyl records.

(Basically, old records are superior for sound quality, but if you buy a newer record, you are likely to get the same quality as you would for digital)

Re: Smoke billows out of a 70s Kitchen-Cookie's Homethread

I guess the only thing that they have over normal digital things is the style if they are modern.

Why's an old record better though?

Re: Smoke billows out of a 70s Kitchen-Cookie's Homethread

A lot of the recording equipment was specifically designed for it to be formatted into vinyl. So if you try to move the record format into a digital format you lose some of the sound quality. But in more recent years they have been getting better at it, but that's only if record companies care about your music enough to remaster into digital (ex. The Beatles, or Queen).
Sometimes modern records can be good but most of the time companies like Disney don't pay very well to get them formatted correctly.

For example, I got my Encanto record today, but for it to sound good (i.e. not tinny) I had to do some fiddling with the settings. While whenever I toss on one of the records, I have from the 70s, I don't have to do anything just listen (and clean off dust).

On a side note, I'm almost done creating my first character sheet.

Huh. Nice records and music lore.

But that college class about to be set on fire isn't that cool.

But what is cool is that character sheet! Looking forwards to it!

Re: Smoke billows out of a 70s Kitchen-Cookie's Homethread

I've been binging Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. (Instead of working on my character sheet) I think my favorite is Donnie, then Mikey. Gives me real ASD and ADHD vibes. Might try to do some artwork.

Ack, it's been so long since I've written a personality section. I want Marlen to have a distinct personality from mine but I *am* *hitting* *a* *wall*.

Re: Smoke billows out of a 70s Kitchen-Cookie's Homethread

I was meaning to finish up the character sheet today, but I had to watch the Superbowl Game instead (Boring). I did finish my first piece of TMNT art though. Might put it on an art thread.

Re: Smoke billows out of a 70s Kitchen-Cookie's Homethread

School work hit me hard and I'm currently trying to find a job, so life is a little crazy.

Also, happy anniversary of my first pet dying.
