"Chaos," he repeats to himself. His accent only comes out on individual words, and this is one of them. "And then?"
Offline
Echo thought for a moment.
"Hmm... Nap! Naps are nice."
Offline
"Very well. It sounds to me as if you have a plan."
Offline
"Yay! I hope it's a good one!"

With this plan being relatively inconsequential, Hitan only offers an encouraging smile in response instead of, say, giving a more thorough analysis.
And anyway, even he wouldn't really do an analysis when it comes to this sort of topic.

"Have you ever heard a bird meow? Or bark?" Echo asked.
Offline
He laughs a little. "I will be honest, Echo-san; I rarely pay attention to birdsong. Perhaps your friend has a better response?"
Offline
Echo turned and asked Silence, which in response tilted their head as they thought.
"Actually, I don't think I have!"
Echo grinned and concluded, "Then many people will hear a bird meow for the first time!"

"Many?" He asks that but soon realizes that most people have more than one friend. Continuously speaking, anyways.
Offline
"Yeah, I think so," Echo said. "Because both of you haven't, so I think a lot of other people wouldn't have."
Offline
"Oh, I meant to ask if you were planning on hosting an event and inviting others to it," he clarifies, conveniently leaving out how he doesn't attend those events due to, y'know, a variety of factors.
Offline
"Oh! That's a good idea! And then even more people can hear!" Echo said.
Offline
"Indeed," he agrees.
Him not adding anything is probably meant to let her think, if she wants to do that.
Offline
Instead of really thinking, as it is a bold assumption that she can, Echo just meows. It's a very accurate meow.
Offline
Hitan looks at Silence as if expecting them to meow back. And no, he's not gonna do it. Good try though.
Offline
Darn XD.
Silence instead turns into a cat, stretching their body out and flopping down onto their side lazily.
Silence stares at Hitan, seeing if he would meow. They haven't caught on that he wasn't going to; they found the thought of it funny.
Offline
Yeah, he expected that.
For some reason, the feather next to Hitan's ear suddenly looks a lot more appealing to them now.
Oh, and he's more of a dog person. By the way.
Offline
Silence's pupils expand, making their eyes nearly entirely black, which in some way almost makes them look more like a stuffed animal with glossy beads for eyes. Their tail swishes a bit, but they have yet to actually move. They're staring straight at the feather, not caring much that it's attached to Hitan's head.
Echo is now distracted by some distant trees, watching the wind very slightly shake the branches.
Offline
Hitan, still looking directly at Silence due to the cat thing from a few moments before, continues his smile, almost as if he would discourage them from pouncing.
Meanwhile, the feather somehow looks like it's moving, even though it's not at all, despite the wind. Yeah, definitely not helping matters.
Offline
Silence continued to stare, quite entranced by the feather.
"I wanna be a bird!" Echo said very suddenly. "Then I could fly around and stuff! I noticed birds like to play in puddles. I also like to play in puddles, so we already have a lot in common!"
Offline
"Are you not able to fly already?" He's keeping his gaze on Silence even though he's speaking to Echo.
Offline
"Nope! But maybe someday I could," Echo answered. "I'm not a very good witch."
Silence rolled around onto their back, saying, "You're a fine witch, but you're also, like, very young still." They still have their eyes on the feather. Their stomach looks very soft and fluffy, like most fluffy cat's stomachs are... It's a trap!
"Hm, I guess so." Echo fiddled with her hoodie strings. Because she didn't want to argue, Echo didn't mention she had seen witches younger than her be able to cast levitation spells. "But! Anyway! Someday, hopefully, I could fly!"

Thankfully, a combination of many life-and-death experiences and Silence talking (a not-so-extreme combination, to be sure) means that Hitan doesn't fall for it. At least, not yet.
"Different skills come at different speeds to different individuals," he adds to what Silence is saying. "In addition, levitation is a subskill of flying. I would personally argue that it may in fact be easier to stay in motion compared to levitating. Oh, and stopping properly, of course."
Offline
It takes a bit for Echo to process what Hitan said.
"Yeah," Echo nodded in agreement, when she finally processed.
Offline
He smiles at Silence, maybe seeking some sort of confirmation that they also understood what they said, maybe looking to see if they agree with his assessment. Yay, the narrator actually roleplaying Hitan somewhat accurately so that he's able to incorporate the maximum number of people into conversations like a good teacher would do.
Offline
Silence just blankly stares back, not giving any information if they understood anything of what Hitan said. They're just thinking about the feather and how fun it would be to smack it around and chase after it.
Echo said, after as well looking to Silence, "I wonder if I could get shoes to levitate. Do you think it would be hard to balance in levitating shoes?"
Offline
Hitan keeps his gaze on Silence for a few more moments before ascertaining that they are probably not going to respond to what Echo said either.
"I am not sure, but truth be told, I would be more concerned regarding the mechanisms involved in stopping the levitation as well as any safeguards," he answers as he pulls out the beginning of something poofy-looking from a sleeve or somewhere. "For that reason, it may be worth more trouble than it is worth."
He lifts a hand up somewhat quickly, as if making a realization. "Ah. Have you worn Heelys before, Echo-san?"
Oh, and that hand's lifting up a cat toy, it seems.
(R.I.P. I forgot if he called her with an honorific or without lol, pretend that's changeable)
Offline
(RIP XD)
Silence stands very quickly, making that cat noise that goes "mrrrrh". Their tail flicks back and forth as they are suddenly very excited.
"I don't wear shoes," Echo answered, a bit blunt. She pointed at her feet, which indeed have no shoes nor socks.
"Shoes are very uncomfortable. Have you worn Heeleys before?"
Offline
The toy is swishing downwards slowly, almost mockingly. At a halfway point, it whisks back up.
"No," he answers, obviously not asking why she'd ask about shoes with a certain function if she doesn't wear shoes in general. "However, I have seen some children wear them. The design is intriguing, in my opinion."
Offline
Silence starts batting at it, much like an actual cat.
"I might try wearing them," Echo said, almost in a determined way. "Because then I could go nnnyyyyyoooooooommmmm!" She reenacts this by swinging her hand from one side to the other very quickly.
She then noticed Silence being very much like a cat and grinned.
