Actually no, never mind
How about if you call your group anything? The trio, did you I heard you mention Kurotama?
Offline
Oh tHEM *pulls out giant stack of lists, notes, and random scenes*
yES WELL--
I call them the Kurotama Trio because I've named their "story" Kurotama, at least for now. It's much easier than saying Ariana, Amaranth, and Indigo and more specific than saying "the trio."
Offline
And what does kurotama mean?
Offline
It means "black soul" in Japanese. Since it kinda revolves around dark magic and the like it seemed like a fitting name.
Offline
Oh that's fun
Is everyone like a dark magic user
Offline
No Ariana's the only main dark magic at this point.
The other one got unalived and soul-trapped inside Ariana which is why she can use it
Offline
I have am unlive moment
And so Ariana's dark magic is worth enough of the title name because...? It's really important or just cool?
Offline
It also seems (to me) to hint towards Kieran, who, despite being unalived pretty early on, is essential to the plot. I like to describe dark magic as "corrupting the soul of those who use it. Corrupted, or black, souls. Kurotama.
so
And if I turn it into an manga or a video game, Kurotama sounds way cooler than Black Soul. Sounds too close to Dark Souls anyway xD

True
So the starting event is the inheriting of the dark magic?
Offline
Or launching event
Offline
No the starting event is getting kidnapped

She gets the dark magic after unaliving her kidnapper

Epic
Oh wait Kieren is the kidnapper? Why?

See, Ariana's a descendant of one of the original light elves, who were responsible for defeating the dark elves, specifically the light elf with the blood of the Dragon King. Originally, it's implied that it's because she's a dark elf, but the true reason is because the Dragon King didn't help her when her son, Noxire, was dying and she became a dark elf in order to save him. Because of the corruption of dark magic, this betrayal evolved into revenge over two hundred years, which is later mirrored in her reincarnated son, the Demon King.

Wait wait I'm very confused did you mix up some names or terms or something or am I misreading
Offline
dangit i messed up the explanation
let me try that again
Kieran kidnaps Ariana because Ariana is a descendant of the one of the original light elves, the one with the blood of the Dragon King. There are two reasons for this: the light elves wiped out the dark elves, who had been gaining power over Ephania, and the Dragon King did not help Kieran when she asked for him to heal her dying son. By kidnapping Ariana (and probably killing her), Kieran thought that it would be enough to seriously hurt the Dragon so he could feel what she did.
Obviously this doesn't pan out because Ariana escapes and then the Dragon gives her magic to unalive Kieran and trap her soul but ya know

Is like, Arianna important enough for the light elves and the Dragon King for him to help her out or something?
Offline
Ariana is the Crown Princess of the entire Ephanian kingdom
So yes, she is important enough xD
Offline
Oh yeah. That's pretty important.
so where do the other two come in?
Offline
You mean the twins?
Indigo was summoned to be one of Kieran's servants (against her will, obviously). Either she helped Ariana escape from Kieran's palace and the two wound up in New York City, or Ariana escaped herself and first met Indigo there. Haven't decided yet.
Amaranth was cursed by Noxire and sent to kill Ariana. Obviously this curse is broken and he becomes part of the group. His first encounter with Ariana involved him almost burning her to a crisp
Yeah that happened

Oh wait is the setting the real world or another land? Or a blend of both?
Offline
Yes
Offline
Yes?
Offline
Basically take the real world as it currently is (minus a pandemic), then throw in a hidden magic island and an alternate dimension
Offline
So yes but more

It comes with its pros and cons. Yes
