I also constantly think "why are the other kids wearing makeup that's something the older kids do" or "wait you guys have boyfriends, the older kids have boyfriends not us" before realizing we are the older kids xDD

I, on the other hand, viewed older kids as stupid and illogical since I was like. 5. xD
I actually thought they were quieter for a while ig, but then as I grew I realized I had been looking at (listening to) the wrong places,,,
I still feel like kids are too young to have boyfriends/girlfriends (what is the gender-neutral term for these???), mostly because they are immature and illogical and probably overly emotional lol. No offense xDD

Well I'm here with 16-year-olds. I would advise your parents upping the age limit. xDHigh schoolers are stupid and honestly I fear how college students will be :') seeing the news has not helped
The good thing is that there are always good kids though. Remember to use your brain before your heart is my advice, if you have or will develop a crush on anyone. Currently I haven't gotten one ever and apparently other kids started getting them since age 5 so idk but yeah xD

I think there's benefit to using both, but yeah, it's better to actually assess them as a person than just "oh but they're cute". There are good people and those are the people you want to care about, not the people who can and will get you into dangerous situations.

Oh yeah definitely, using all logic doesn't help. But I feel like all emotions has proven itself presently, and over the course of history, to be worse immediate crushes leading to toxic relationships, feelings of rebelliousness manifesting in anti-vax attitudes, generals being too arrogant and ending up killed very quickly, etc. So that's why my personal view is that logic over emotion, at least initially, is a good way to think about it.
As kinda an example, I guess, it's like how I approached people in the forums. I wanted to believe everyone was a good person, but I was wary at first. But now that I can be pretty sure everyone I'm close to now are good people, I don't need to keep that logic barrier up/to keep being wary of others' intentions. :D

I think that's a really good practice, actually! Always ignoring emotion is bad, but holding it off a bit when you're getting to know someone helps you to assess what they're really like without getting blindsided by other things
