It is. Literally. 5 A.M.
But also in a literal sense is the description of the sound. It really sounds like someone knocked their head--on the door, that is. Ryoo's door. But they sound unfazed, murmuring something to themselves before making the same noise.
Bonk.
The narrator can only sigh and say, "At least they didn't just barge in."
Offline
Hearing this noise, Ryoo opened the door, rubbing her eyes a bit. She seems to have only just woken up, considering she's still in her nightgown. "Kiaane?" she asked sleepily. "What is it?"
Offline
(Love how she just knew xD)
They take the time to step away from the door and make sure they're balanced on their feet before replying, "Snow."
Indeed, they're carrying a lot of buckets, all of which are filled to the brim with snow somehow.
One of the buckets nearly tips over, making for an ever-so-slight scramble on their end--not that they were going to specify anything without being asked to.
Offline
Ryoo stared blankly at the buckets, then finally managed to absorb what she was seeing. "...What are you doing with this? Where did you get it?" Apparently in her grogginess she'd forgotten about speaking in riddles. "...And why did you bring it here?"

Ryoo, they can only answer one question at a time.
There's a long pause on their part before they say, "...carrying it here."
Offline
"But...why here?" she said. "Are you planning to turn my room into a winter exhibit?" she asked, looking slightly mischievous.
Offline
No, they're planning to turn you into a snowman.
Kiaane actually doesn't know what "exhibit" means--they haven't seen it before. They struggle with the fact that they don't have their hands free to write it down for a moment before going, "Because snow is rare here." Remembering that she also used "here" in her sentence, they specify: "In this territory. Not in this room. There is never snow in this room."
Offline
Ryoo was trying very hard not to laugh, seeing Kiaane's apparent seriousness. "It'll melt inside. We should put it somewhere cold."
Offline
"But that would be outside. The purpose was to bring it inside," they say, tilting their head. They are utterly unaware of the fact that she finds this funny.
Offline
"It won't be snow anymore if it stays inside," she pointed out. "It'll just be wet."

"Kiaane...can learn," they mutter, presumably referring to a way to make the snow stay snow indoors.
Offline
Ryoo leaned forward slightly, her loose braid falling over her shoulder, and prodded the snow, thinking slightly. "We could enchant it..." she muttered, almost inaudibly.
Offline
Why does she sleep with her braid still braided?
Kiaane waits patiently for her ideas in silence.
Offline
Since her hair's so long, braiding it will keep it from getting it too tangled when she's asleep.
Ryoo continued to poke the snow for a few seconds. "Give me a few minutes," she said, stepping back and closing the door, presumably to get dressed. Kiaane, please do not think otherwise and try to follow her. It will not end well.
Offline
Bruh, this narrator kept their hair braided one night by accident and the next day their hair was uncombable.
Don't worry, since she's a Thaohal, they treat what she said like an order and stand in front of the door like a soldier. A soldier with a lot of snow pails, that is...it's best not to overthink it.
Offline
Ryoo came out a few moments later, as she said, and almost bumped into Kiaane, considering he's standing right in front of the door. "Okay, let's see..." she looked at the snow pails, chewing her lip. "Is there a place you wanted to put the snow? Besides outside, I mean. I'm sure there's an empty room we can put it in if we need to."
Offline
(the fact that Ryoo immediately just ran with the idea of putting snow inside the building xD)
Offline
"Your room," they say matter-of-factly. They also matter-of-factly stumbled backwards while saying so.
Offline
(Ah, such grace, stumbling so matter-of-factly)
Ryoo folded her arms. "We're not keeping snow in my room, even if it's enchanted not to melt. Can't we put it somewhere else inside the building?"
Offline
Kiaane would look distressed if they had that in their expressions inventory. The only way one could tell how they feel is through really looking at their eyes, which are a tad bit darker than usual, but then again it's literally before sunrise, so one probably can't tell. "It won't seep into the carpet," they try to insist, unintentionally avoiding the question.
Offline
"But it'll get cold!" Ryoo said, pulling her cloak around her, as if she could feel it already. "I don't want to live in a snowglobe!"
Offline
Kiaane pauses, not having considered that. But after some consideration, they say, "Could make a thermal boundary." They visibly stop themselves from gesturing with their hands to illustrate the point and then just proceed to continue to awkwardly stand there.
Offline
(RIP Kiaane)
Ryoo did not have a direct counter to this, because they were right. She sighed. "Just because I could keep it in my room doesn't mean I want to. What if we put it in the empty room just down the hall? It's pretty close to my room, at least."
Offline
"...Why don't you want to?" they ask, once again unintentionally avoiding the question.
Offline
Ryoo shrugged. "I just don't like the idea of having it so...white. I like snow, but it get would get dreary. You can't have flowers in a frost."
Offline
"It doesn't have to be white," they say after another round of contemplation. "It can be yellow."
Kiaane, nO--
Offline
Ryoo covered her mouth to hide her giggling, though it wasn't very effective. "Not yellow, Kiaane. That is a very poor color choice."
Offline
"Sunflowers are yellow," they counter, though their tone is way too mild to put up an argument. "So too are daisies' hearts, and even roses."
Offline
"No yellow snow," Ryoo said firmly.
Offline
"...red?" they suggest.
