Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

You can't avoid your problems forever, Sollux~

It doesn't take long for Xenia to analyze the damage. Apparently, this isn't the first time where something has been destroyed and Sunny has bolted. Haha...bolted. Because lightnin--yeah, it's not a good pun. Are puns ever good?
After she does so, she takes a little breath. Turning around, she hollers. "Mon chéri~ Sunny's on the loose again~! Could you catch him for me, please?"
There was another bad pun inserted there, if you can find it.

Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

Paymon peeks into the room after a couple seconds. He glances at the broken pieces of dish and at Xenia with Sollux. Right, Sunny was probably not far off.
"Uh-huh!" And with that, he strides across the room towards the outside.

Meanwhile, Lux wipes her tears on her mom's shirt.

Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

"Thank you!" Xenia calls with a smile, though in reality she's probably sighing a little to herself mentally and hoping that she doesn't have to wash snot off of her clothing. 'Cause, you know, her clothing's really hard to get on. Very complicated.
Sunny is speed. At least his legs are short right now, so it shouldn't take that much effort to catch him. Right? ...Right???

Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

Right...we'll see. Paymon exits the house with quick steps (lol but me not knowing what the outside looks like lol). Once outside, he goes to the side to find Sunny. Can his steps be heard?

As she's not crying anymore, Sollux turns to sniffling.
"...ma..a..." she mumbles.

Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

Nope, Sunny is no longer running. Honestly, the kid would be really good at Hide-and-Seek. Hide-and-Go-Seek, too.
Honestly, where could the kid have gone? He couldn't have gotten that far, right? He's never run out of the property before.
...might want to start by checking places like the roof.

Xenia pats her daughter's head. Like the narrator, she's probably not sure why Sollux is the one crying. I mean, their family might be well off, but a plate is still a plate--cherished.

Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

Paymon checks around one last time. "Sunny?" he says out loud, not exactly expecting an answer, and looking up at the roof (thanks for the suggestion) just in case. He doesn't stay still in the same place, though, instead moving around for a different angle of view and in case he had to climb up.

Who knows what's going through Sollux's mind. She's calmer now at least, and that's good. She is also still holding on firmly.

Sorry, it's not the roof, though usually that's a good bet for Hide and Seek.
Sunny isn't in the vicinity, it seems. Geez, he's a troublesome child.

"Sunny!" Paymon calls out once more, this time cupping a hand next to his mouth. He jogged to the back of the house after a second or two of looking around.

Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

"Yeah?" comes the answer from somewhere. It seems quiet, but in a faraway sense, not in the Sunny-is-crying sense. And also in the sense that Sunny probably realized his error as soon as he answered and clamped his hand over his mouth.
What a noob.

Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

Paymon listens for the source of the voice and walks to the other side of the house ((if it's correct lol idk what I'm narrating)).
"C'mon, Sunny," he encourages, "you don't have to hide."

Meanwhile, inside the house, Sollux finally pulls away from Xenia a little. "Ma, the dish..." she says slowly.

Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

The silence is either a "Yes I do" or another sort of response that Sunny does not want to actually say aloud.
By the way, Paymon actually went past Sunny.
Stop complaining, Sunny. I have to cheat, or else this thread isn't gonna get anything done.
So, what's left is the field of grasses, the tree (though that seems a little far away), their little playground set on the premises, or...the place they deposit their garbage.
Honestly, it's just pick-and-choose at this point.

"It's as broken as a comet," Xenia goes cheerfully, almost like she's singing it. She swings Lux a little to the side of her hold so she can look at the wreckage a little more carefully.

Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

This time, Paymon does not say anything. He already suggested for Sunny to stop hiding, and if that option was unheeded, then what else can he do except find the boy?
Not gonna check on the garbage site, and he can get to the tree in a bit. The playground set is chosen as the next place to look for Sunny.

Sollux points towards the place where the impact between plate and wall happened. "It broke...there." Her eyes get a bit watery again after speaking.

Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

The narrator feels like they can see a hint of Paymon's views regarding discipline...

As it happens, the playground has quite a few trees near it, snipped rather evenly, probably thanks to Paymon or someone they hired. Did medieval people do lawn work? Guess they did.
Anyways, there's quite a few ladders on the playground equipment (which, the narrator might note, would probably only be vaguely recognizable to Modern Sect kiddos). There's even a little-kid ladder leaning against one of the tree trunks. There's a slide that took forever to make, with its whirls and twirls, and the tunnel in between. Of course, the platforms between everything are also there, with that wheel that Sollux might like to twirl around.
Also, there's that part where Sunny insisted on repainting as pink. Heavens know why he thought that way.
It's the swings. It would also be a little foreign to modern kids, seeing how it's kinda dangerous. Mostly just a larger tire-like contraption for spinning and a smaller one with a chair-like base for swinging around and hopefully not eating dirt.

Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

Hmm.

Paymon performs a quick check behind the tree trunks, leaning to the sides instead of walking all the way to each of them. He pushes the tire to make it spin once he gets close to it.

Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

Sorry, that's not the correct guess. But the narrator will admit that--small Sunny, stop shouting in my head--he's somewhere near or in this playground. So, the general guess is pretty good!

The next area of the playground Paymon checks is the tunnel of the slide. Not saying anything, he moves to give the inside a quick look.

From there, his sight sets on the shadow. Then he enters the slide as much as needed to quickly catch the shadow's leg.

Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

Unfortunately, the leg is a little quicker than he is. By the time Paymon figures out what's happening and likely gets out of the slide, Sunny (the owner of the sus leg) has jumped down from the equipment (quite unsafely, smh) and is running again.

Sunny doesn't think it's a game. He's practically running for his life in quite a curious fashion. At least you can still distinguish which leg is which--he's not quite running like a pinwheel.

Re: [Past/Reference @Specter] Sunny hasn't always been a bucket of salt.

A surprisingly loud sound of what would other be quiet refusal is emitted from Sunny, who's probably gonna be caught anyways. However, in a few years, he probably wouldn't be, which is probably why education (specifically of why you shouldn't run from your dad, when he's actually a competent one) (lol narrator salt) is so important.
To his credit, he's not running in a straight line.

Also, the narrator only just noticed that they accidentally ignored the second part of a post from September 5th. Let's pretend that Xenia made some noise of affirmation at that point, since she obviously knows where the plate broke. But anyways, she doesn't clean it up, instead just carrying Sollux off into the kitchen, where she actually tries to find the things needed to do the task.
