"A business deal?" Time said, then shrugged, "Well, I guess I just make things sound like so without realizing it really. Maybe I'm too formal, too serious."

"'Too' depends on who is viewing that part of you," Hitan said earnestly. "If that is the way you actually are, there's nothing wrong with the quality."

Time shrugs, "I guess you are right." He said, "I guess it depends who is seeing that part of me. Yeah" He nods.

He chuckled involuntarily from how much Time sounded like an unconfident child doing a presentation, but tried to make up for that by adding, "Is there any way I could help you search out such a person?"

Time shrugs, "Well, the most obvious thing you can do is just simply keep an eye out for anyone who can fit the role."

"Anything less obvious?"

"Not really. To be honest." Time answered.

"I'll try to keep a lookout, then." Hitan wondered, though, how he could really help. His environment just wasn't very helpful towards knowing new people at all. He was usually either at work for one hour at a time or usually he was just trying not to die. Since recent had been more peaceful--he and Helen had gotten an actual home for a while--most of his free time was actually spent with her. Usually, he had the potential to meet new people at libraries, but the last time...well, we don't talk about last time.

Time nods, "Thank you, that's very much appreciated."

"Anything within my ability." Hitan added the contemplation to his do-later list. "Now, I'm sorry for the abrupt change in topic, but...do you happen to enjoy reading?"

"Yes. I do infact enjoy reading."

"May I assume, then, that you have read most, if not all, books that you have within your domain?" he asked, shifting slightly. He was probably trying to make some small talk.

"Well, I try to read them. Yep." He nods, "Except for the ones that try to blow up in your face or eat your soul. You know?"

Hitan looks more interested in the prospect than he should be. Maybe he doesn't. The dude largely lacks self care.
"Why not?" he asked in his usual tone, which meant it was basically impossible to gauge whether he was joking or not.

"Why not? Why not I read the ones that are cursed?" Time asked.

Hitan is distracted momentarily from overall social normality from both that weird sentence structure and also the prospect of books blowing up or swallowing a soul. "Do the books blow up or swallow a soul when one opens them?"

Time's narrator apologizes for the inconvenience of bad sentence writing.
"Just a few examples, for the bad books."

"Do you have a use for them?" Hitan still looks too interested.

"Do I have a use for the bad books?" Time thinks for a moment, "Well, of course. To find out if they do more than just blow up, and keep them away from others. Kinda like other cursed artifacts."

"Do you use them for offensive purposes?"

"No, not really." Time said, "I don't really summon cursed artifacts too much for offensive purposes."

Honestly Hitan's pretty aware he should give Time an opportunity to ask questions, but he's not too sure how to provide one such opportunity. He just nodded. "I see."

Well, ig that was good enough of an opportunity.
"Why so interested?" Time asked.

There was a somewhat noticeable hesitation on Hitan's part, but he still responded, "I suppose I was attempting to see if I could relate."

"Oh." Time said, "How so?"

"In terms of using books for offensive purposes," he clarified, then said further, "When I was younger, I wished to try to extend my arsenal of offense and defense beyond magic and telekinesis."

"Well, using the books and artifacts we're talking about is still technically magic." He said.

"Depending on definition, I suppose. It was substantially wonderful and exciting for me, but I doubt it would be so for others. As for the general supernatural, I suppose the definition is far too broad for me to accept." He paused slightly. "Say, how do you define magic?"

"Magic is... odd." Time said, "I think it could be better determined if a situation was presented. I guess it could also be more of a personal definition."

Well, Hitan was waiting for the answer to the question, so he just continued listening.
