About the timeline thing, yeah I was just kinda thinking of a chronological order like you said lol I don't know if I would be able to work with a set span of years or something like that. So what you suggested is okay. And if you don't mind, I think it would be a good idea to focus on this for a couple posts? I don't know how much there's to be discussed about this so let's see.
Ah I had forgotten to ask you if we had a CD War in this world xD I was assuming there was something like it but I didn't ask. So, shall we make it canon?
Going with the war as reference then. Lancer was involved with it but lived through the events. Caster is from after the war, but not like a long long time after it. Then, I'm not really sure about Assassin. She could be from any point in time tbh, maybe even from during the war and had nothing to do with it, maybe never knew much about it or realized what it entailed.
About the Masters, I like to think that Nyoko's bloodline comes from a very long time ago. It's just a vague idea I had lol and I haven't thought about the possibility for my other Master characters.
CD Wars in canon seem to be periodic things, where apparently every generation of deities has to deal with one, or more if they're unlucky/can't handle stress properly.
For me, what's kinda important (though only a little related) is that I've always wondered what exactly leads to a deity corrupting, and this feels like a good place to develop it ('cause otherwise everyone else in-RP have different interpretations). I of course don't have a corrupted deity/one who can be corrupted, but yeah. It definitely seems to have to do a lot with emotional instability/collapse, but I wonder if there's something within a typical deity's physiology that results in that emotional instability/collapse changing into a separate form?
What I'm finding particularly interesting about this being in a Fate AU in particular is the idea of Alter Egos, and how that happens to entities that are not just deities but also not just common mortals. Are Alter Egos connected to the Corrupted forms of deities?
Once, I recall hypothesizing that ambrosia flowers in canon actually aren't all that solely good and powerful, and maybe something within them causes the correlation between emotional instability and the creation of a corrupted form (that is still divine). But because there wasn't enough evidence to suggest that all deities are connected to ambrosia flowers (either through whomever gave them divinity or the flowers themselves), I never ventured very far into the idea.
All of that's to say that I'm not really sure if it's as accurate to say that "Yeah! Let's make the CD War canon!" instead of "Yeah! Let's make the repetitive occurrence of CD Wars canon!" I guess the one we're talking about might be one of the most important, though, if we wanna go that route.
Focusing on it is good imo, btw.

My mind is quite set on the catalyst having been stolen for some reasons, either by Sunny or Lux, or both of them. I guess this time I know it has reasons, but it's still weird. Of course, the possibility of someone having just given it to them is still there, but I feel the idea of no one having known that Sunny would take part in a Grail War more appealing for various reasons, because it ties in with the motives I have in mind for him, and as mentioned before, there are kinda controversies in someone having given him the catalyst because it's too unpredictable of one (for instance, compared to the Round Table shard from canon, where everyone from it, maybe excluding Gareth, is OP from what I recall).
But yes, confirmation on it/discussion from you on the above would be quite neat.
It was intended to be funny, and Sunny minds my humor (even if it's centered on him) a lot less when he's from F/DA, so I exploit the fact to the greatest extent I can xD.
Xenia has very strong opinions, I'll say that. xD Did I mention she's weird? I like her for that part of her, though.
Oh, I've always wondered if Sunny's name was a name his father made up. Did Sollux get named by her mother, then? I've headcanoned that as soon as the name "Sunshine" came up, Xenia was really excited about calling him Sunny xD. I wonder if "Lux" was also a nickname she was excited about using.
-Galaxian-
I have to say I really liked the idea of their stealing the catalyst ever since we discussed it xD. I wasn't sure what you thought about it tho. The vague idea in my mind is like Sunny somehow suggested the idea of participating in a Grail War and then Lux suggested stealing lol. Do you have like an idea for why he wanted to participate? I mean it's fine if you can't say it rn but if it's something that would be important to both of the Meeps then I thought maybe it would be good to know?
Also the catalyst, whatever it is, definitely cannot be compared to the shard of the Round Table xD. I kinda think that it might be that it's connected to several similar legends (none too famous) and therefore gives the chance of getting different Heroic Spirits.
Paymon really wanted to name his kid "Sunshine" so when he agreed on the name with his wife he must've been very happy xD and of course he would've accepted Xenia's excitement over nicknames hehehe. She probably is the one who named Sollux too lol xD.

Yeah, I was also a little confused on that, but if memory serves me right, then I recall that Saber was going to be summoned in the afternoon of the 5th day. 5th day for sure. I'm just a little bit uncertain on Lancer, but Helge summoning as early as possible makes sense to me.
I don't know about the Servants' greater chance to be summoned thing, mostly due to how the lore of the Grail War means that the deities have their expectations set on the humans. So, that was why I was thinking that the Servants' wishes don't matter as long as they're compatible. But I guess...even though this sounds really ugly when I voice it out...Spirits with wishes are likely more,,, manipulable. Like, someone who cares is much more likely to fight harder and cause more (important) happenings than someone who doesn't care and just wants to get it over with. Y'know? I'm sorry, I sound kinda sinister right now. So both options exist is what I'm saying. Yayyyyy for decision-making.
As for Masters, it's kinda a similar thing, but on a stronger note. I think that maybe some people who fight in it and don't have wishes are likely more interesting (darn why do I sound like Akuma fdjsiksfdjfoi) because someone who doesn't have a wish but is fighting for a reason other than a wish is much more interesting than someone who has their eyes set on money from the Grail from the very start, if you get what I mean. So I think that Masters can have wishes or not, but maybe it doesn't matter as much and is just dependent on the judgment of the Grail.
In general, I guess wishes or not maybe doesn't matter as much in comparison to what they could do differently than everyone else who has already failed in the gods' eyes.
Maybe I'm overthinking this? Let me know.
-Galaxian-
Alright then! We can follow the order you typed. It's fine with me.
Dw that doesn't sound sinister because I know the context of discussion xD.
I get what you mean. Tbh I was thinking it like, "If they have a wish then they'll fight harder and give their Masters a greater chance at victory. And then the winner gets a better chance at helping out the gods Ig." But I don't mean that it's the sole criteria for summons, cause compatibility definitely plays a large role like you mentioned.
I guess the last part you mentioned makes sense. I think participation itself is more important than the wishes even though they have a part too. Maybe the idea of "wishes" really doesn't impact this version of the Grail as much as the canon one.
It's not overthinking btw I do want to get this clear too.

Okay so first of all uhh I'm not very sure of "how" canon deities get corrupted. I do remember that about the original ones there was some mention of a spell or something like that but it didn't get confirmed or explained much. Personally, my CD is slightly different from the others both in creation and uhhhh classification? Idk how to explain it lol but it comes from the fact that I originally didn't intend to make it into a CD, though I ended up kinda going that way because everyone seemed to identify the problem as "corruption" as the plot was in full swing back then.
So, I really don't know what the cause for corruption others have is, because just the emotional/mental part you mentioned doesn't seem like a large enough motive to me, and I haven't really wanted to think much about it for some reason. What you just suggested (about ambrosia flowers) makes a lot of sense to me and I think it would be interesting to somehow put it into the AU. I think there's different ways of gaining divinity though, so maybe in the AU there's certain kinds of deities that are more susceptible to corruption? Again, I feel kinda awkward trying to define this for some reason xD so like maybe we can leave it a little vague?
Hmmm, Alter Egos. I hadn't thought of them for the AU world yet tbh lol. Perhaps their origins can be traced back to the CDs even though not all of them are directly connected to the corruption?
Oh when I said about making it canon I meant more like if we could discuss the idea of making it canon xD I'm sorry I really didn't type that well lol.
My mind has been holding the idea of an important CD war somewhere in the timeline, so I think it would be the one we might be taking as reference? Just as an idea, though. I do want to say that just something being awkward isn't really a reason to leave it vague, especially due to it not being inappropriate or anything. I can define things on my own, though, if it bothers you so much.

Oof I meant more like "reason" than "motive". Like, emotional inestability is a reason, but more like a factor than a reason so there being another reason would make more sense for corruption. Idk if this makes sense lol.
Welp I can discuss this with you, np lol, guess I can put my weird awkwardness aside. I think it might come from the idea that I'm not sure of the specifics of corruption and CDs and that stuff so I get kinda hesitant to talk about it.
Do you think we could talk this up in live chat? Not necessarily today (unless you're free and willing?) but I'd like to avoid misunderstandings and I think it's easier to clear those up through chat.

Well,,, if you say so lol. Idk, it feels kinda weird for me to try to try to "take the lead" when you have so many good ideas xD.
So, uhhhhh...I guess I'd like to talk some more about the Meeps. I mean like at the moment, what's their situation, what they do, stuff like that.
About Sollux, I know she goes to school (public or private? I forgot) and privately is more or less knowledgeable of magic. I have no idea of what her magic is because like, doesn't it come from family? I'm not sure about her and Sunny's magic roots.
Also, hm well do you think we have an estimate for how long ago their parents were killed? I don't know if it's that important but it could be? I kinda think around seven years but I don't know. I'd like to see what you think about this.
Again, like I said in another post, I don't know how much we can discuss about the topic. Maybe it doesn't need that much talk.
Offline
Responding directly to the last sentence, as I mentioned in the prior posts, their magecraft is likely what is of most importance. Unfortunately, that is, again, a matter I think better on for myself. That's no excuse not to at least try here, however.
Are we solidifying their ages? If we are, then we can probably calculate when their parents were killed. Likely before Sunny was 10 is my current very vague estimate, though. I have reasons to think it was even earlier, to the point where Sollux wouldn't remember it very well, if at all.
You can decide on what kind of school she goes to. Which one do you think is better for her? Then insert her in there, and we'll say that Sunny thought the same as you do. I personally do not have an opinion, but I do want to note that private schools are apparently more luxurious/expensive/whatever.
Think Sunny goes to a school of his own?
As for their situation, more clarification is needed. I could ramble, but it would likely be less than helpful.
-Galaxian-
Offline
Yeah, just take your time thinking, dw. Besides I think Sunny's magecraft is more important here, right? Btw I'm excited to see what you come up with :3c.
Would have to calculate age difference for that. Sunny is like 20 iirc? Sollux is around 15, she could be 16 maybe if it suits what we decide. I'm fine with her not remembering the event. Going by what you said, would an estimate be like 11 or 12 years ago?
I was thinking Lux probably attends a public school. I don't know about Sunny but at his age I don't know if he'd need to go to school or college, uhhhh unless maybe he wants to focus on something other than magic? I don't know for sure, but I'd say I don't think he regularly attends any educational institution.
I don't think this is as important as other topics but I wanted to ask like more or less what their lifestyle is? Just in general I mean. I guess they live like regular people, not a lot of riches or things like that? And I remember your headcanon about the candles lol would you like to follow with it
Offline
I mean, his magecraft is probably directly connected to Sollux's, so if it doesn't work for her, it doesn't work.
Sunny is either 19 or 21, take your pick lol.
Currently I think that she was probably a toddler when Xenia and Paymon died. Oof. So if Sollux is 15 and Sunny is 19, then that would have been more than a decade ago (around 12 years ago like you said). But if Sollux is 15 and Sunny is 21, then...yeah, same time period, just different age that Sunny was. You take your pick for how old is Sunny is and tell me to go move my lazy behind and write it down (lazy fingers instead of behind ig)
I meant like a magecraft school or something for Sunny, since he doesn't have parents to teach him. But maybe he's smart and can teach himself (*slight skepticism for some reason*)
When I say "headcanon" I usually mean "This is what I say and you can pry this 'fact' from my cold, dead body," but anyways, what do you mean their lifestyle? I could ramble but again, that's less than helpful lol
-Galaxian-
Offline
Hm that's true lol. Then I'll have to think more xD about what would fit her and what wouldn't. Uh how practiced do you think she is (I know this is kinda up to me lol but I want to know)? Does Sunny help her with her magic?
I'm kinda tempted to say 19 because it'd lessen the age gap, but on the other hand I think it'd be interesting to have him at 21,,,lol hard choice idk xD. Well, since all this time I've been thinking about him as a 21-yo, I think I'd go with that.
So around 12 years ago, Lux would have been like 3. That still counts as a toddler, right?
I don't know why I immediately thought Sunny does like homeschool but about magic lol. Maybe he does attend a school like that. I can't really see him going, like, everyday, so maybe he just goes on certain days of the week or something? Up to ya, but I think the idea of a magecraft school is interesting.
Oh I mean like, their lives? Like, uhhh in what area do they live, do they have like a big house or something, about how much time do you think they spend together, daily life in general I guess.
Offline
Instead of answering the question like a normal, actually intelligent entity would, let me say: Well Sunny technically isn't supposed to let her touch magecraft, so that restricts when and what she can practice, but on the other hand he doesn't give a frick for what other mages want him to do, so he may or may not just give her resources to study from whenever he can, probably disguised in the form of normal, very disguised/encrypted textbooks and books. So now you can probably make up an answer on your own depending on these factors! Yayyyy. (And I guess he can probably only personally help her once in a while, but most of the time he doesn't think he's good enough to be a teacher lol.)
21 it is, yay. And yeah, 3's a toddler, I think. Maybe she was off at preschool while her parents "went away for a long, long vacation."
So is she 15 or 16? If she's almost 16, would she bug Sunny about holding a birthday party for her Sweet Sixteen or whatever? Because I know for a fact that without bugging Sunny does not understand why people need birthday celebrations lol
Honestly Sunny probably can't get up in time to go to school lol, homeschool's probably the better option, yeah. Maybe sometimes, though.
I did wonder if where they live rn is where they usually live (the city where the Grail War is taking place). Like, did they just take a vacation or something? It kinda seems like it, huh. Or maybe Sollux was supposed to stay where she was but then she got a break or something (seasonal break idk) and comes to visit and Sunny's like "Why are you here"
Btw I have a little better idea of the terrain now, for some reason. Yay. I think I might accidentally be making the place too much like Colorado though, for a place that's supposed to be more like South America lolol
And well, about their lives, I guess if this isn't where they usually live, then that makes it more uncertain. I guess I can imagine them having moved once from a bigger house because Sunny didn't like the older one (was too spacious and reminded him of their parents), but for some reason he still ended up keeping a bunch of stuff from the old one (I'll never understand him),,, a room is filled (or just for) Sollux's toys when she was little, and whenever Sunny thinks he's found something she might find cringe (even though maybe she wouldn't) he tosses it in there. Cringe Room.
Not sure how much time they spend together. Depends on her schedule. He spends most of his time either in the house or somewhere far away for whatever reason, and he's not much of a talker. But I guess he makes an okay guardian. Sometimes he seems more like Paymon's youngest, antisocial brother than Sollux's brother, if that makes any sense. Like the youngest, antisocial uncle who's somehow not spoiled into a brat at this point.
Lol keep listing specific things about their life; I like to think about it. R.I.P. you having to read it though.

Sunny doesn't even know what a birthday is at this point (I've even forgotten his birthday lol rip)

I feel they probably traveled. I don't know if they traveled together lol I mean Sollux would be thrilled to go on vacations so she'd probably want to follow either way. So she either pressed Sunny enough to let her go with him (if she knew about the trip but wasn't supposed to go) or just followed him not long after leaving because "I deserve a vacation too". If the plan was just for them to go together, then she can pack for them both and be excited about travelling lol.
Okay tbh saying the place is "like South America" is too general imo lol at this point I don't know if what I'm imagining is even similar enough to what I know of my continent area. I mean obviously my thoughts are influenced by experience but like it's more like I'm thinking of a random place whose location is in the geographical equivalent of South America in the AU.
Does that even make sense xD
So I should imagine their usual residence is just a normal house?
Lol does Sunny keep the "cringe room" locked? If not, Lux probably likes to get in there by herself.
Idk, maybe they go out to eat on the weekends or something but it's mostly Sollux talking a lot about how her week was.
Well, I don't think Sunny's attitude is that much of a problem bc after all I guess Sollux is used to it (kinda). She might make efforts to be with him sometimes. Maybe late at night if she's allowed to be awake then. She likes to talk a lot and also likes to watch movies.

Hahaha I like reading the thoughts you've posted thoigh dw xD I was actually hoping you'd post more stuff like it
Related to the topic but off on a tangent like usual, but usually I doubt they get vacations, so it's no wonder she's excited. Usually it's just Sunny going off with minimal advance notice. He leaves a note or a phone message or whatever. The messages are really weird because he isn't too sure how to operate a phone so sometimes it's just him not knowing the voicemail has been activated already and him just being silent and breathing into the phone/muttering to himself occasionally.
Okay so this is a weird way to put it, but I imagine that at the pool, Sollux is swimming and she's all excited, while Sunny is in the shade with shades on (ironically) reading a newspaper. No matter what she does he just doesn't get excited xD
Back to the actual situation, it depends on how understanding she is for whether or not he let her know where he was going. Lol for some reason my mind is kinda going cliché and has Lux pressuring him into at least letting her know where he is unless "[he] also wants to disappear without her knowing the reason, again," but I feel like that might be pretty OOC lol (and also unnecessarily angsty). Anyways, Sunny doesn't think of it as a vacation (not that he usually has any lol rip him having to wait until retirement), which I agree with, and I guess unless she understands that fact, it's going to be her pressuring him or tracking his whereabouts and following him, which might lead to conflict (R.I.P.), especially the latter.
I gotta say again though, I do think it's not a vacation, and so I agree with Sunny. I mean, Sunny's just gonna be camping out and hoping he doesn't die the first day of the second week, and he doesn't want her to accidentally be hurt. So.
...so,,, to finish the sentence, I'm hoping she's able to see things from his angle so there isn't conflict. (I also hope the same from his end, to an extent.)
I mean, adding on, I don't think he'd have an issue with her following even as long as she thinks of it as a vacation only for herself and they only actually rendezvous at the very end, the latter of which I'm guessing isn't gonna happen (due to roleplaying reasons). Well, to ensure there's no/minimal conflict, we both gonna plan. Much better than GGaD!Sunny actually ruining a fun outing though huh.
Here's the summary on my part: If she understands the situation/dangers and will be considerate of them and keep herself safe, Sunny would be fine with them traveling together, and so Lux could pack for both of them. He'd also let her know about where he's staying and introduce her to Caster and stuff. If she pressured him, then Sunny is going to watch her behavior and see if she understands, but he's definitely going to be keeping her far away from himself/doesn't let her know about his actual "residence," only checking in like once per day with her. If she follows him without him thinking/knowing that she knows what he's/they're getting into, then he might get frustrated/angry at her, and so conflict might ensue (though notably better than whatever the heck was the reason for them getting into that One Fight in GGaD, I know it was mostly Sunny's fault though, if not entirely), and he's probably only gonna check in via phone or whatever every day. The third option is not very practical for RPing purposes, so I really do hope she understands to a degree at the very least.
What are you imagining? I drew a little horrible map yesterday and I refuse to look at it again lol, but it's definitely not like I'm just saying "Oh this city would be here in the real world" while pointing to a portion of your continent. I guess if I can say anything, I don't think that would be what we're after. I'm not sure if I mentioned this prior, but it's kinda like the shops and cities and stuff are more like those in SA than in NA, so that's why I say it's South American-y or whatever.
Normal is so perspective so I have no idea how to answer that question lol. Maybe? I mean, it's not a mansion, I'll say that. How many floors do you think it's got?
Sunny doesn't keep the Cringe Room locked. He actually doesn't lock most of the doors (except the front door and back door and side doors and whatever doors facing towards the outside. Duh.) (btw tell Lux to always remember to lock the doors, or Sunny gets a lil smidge angry (: ). It actually has a bit to do with his magecraft lol or at least the ideas for his magecraft that I had yesterday owo. Yay inspiration.
Lol there's little Lux's bed in the Cringe Room and she just. Sleeps there when she feels like it sometimes.
For going out to eat, lol where they go to eat (and how much money is used) is on Lux then, Sunny knows almost nothing about money management, not to mention restaurant quality or whatever.
Well ig I imagine they usually eat dinner together too on weekdays, but they almost never eat breakfast together because of schedule differences. And as for lunch, idk, I think maybe it depends (on weekends/break days) but it's not a "almost never" matter.
Lol someone at the restaurants thinks that Sunny's Sollux's boyfriend or someone.
Awww, did she do her homework next to him when she was younger?
Ig Sunny's an okay listener at least. Idk, I sure hope so. I like him being a bucket of peculiarity more than a bucket of peculiarity and salt (and sea salt, etc.)
Lol movies are just Lux staring at the screen and talking while Sunny just stares at her. Hence he never knows what movies were about. But movies need to be early, so she gotta finish HW quickly or else they'll be without electricity and they'll be watching television by candlelight
Sunny probably wants her to go to bed early, but he can only put up with so much counter-fight before he relents and lets her stay up a bit. But after midnight it's a non-negotiable issue, I'm guessing, for both of them.

I'mma get attached to my NPCs too lol maybe they'll actually end up as actual characters of mine lol oop. Meanwhile, they'll exist so Lux can talk about them as so I can draw her chilling with them. Idk if I'd pov them in the rp though xD.
Lol Sollux probably thinks it's funny how Sunny (owo a rhyme) is out of touch with certain things in life.
Do they have a popcorn maker?
Rip the theory
Tbh that Talk™ is probably the main thing that produces tension in the Meeps' relationship in this universe. Let's see what happens.
Lol Sunny can never remember anyone's names correctly. He either is like "Who is that" or just mixes them up.
If they have a popcorn maker, it wasn't something Sunny bought lol.
Though ig in GGaD (if angst didn't happen) I can imagine him buying a popcorn maker in the shape of R2-D2 from Star Wars lol. Not in F/DA though.
It's less tension for their relationship and more like: Trauma
Lol I mean maybe Sollux is frustrated with him for babying her and not letting her know what happened, but it's less a matter of him not wanting to hurt her and himself

So he has a phone?
Sollux tries to dive in the most extravagant ways she can but just ends up splashing Sunny with water to get a reaction lol. Well I don't think she can dive that well, but she can swim pretty well.
Ok yeah that's really angsty lol.
I mean I guess it kinda depends. If she was involved in getting the catalyst then Sunny maybe at least told her something. The way I like to think is that he said something in vague terms about having to participate in a magic thing (that would automatically mean Lux shouldn't get involved) and they can travel together. Not that she'd understand completely and promise to follow instructions to 100%, but like she can at least act like that so she's allowed to come along.
You know, I think that with Sollux it's probably better to tell her things (mostly) straight because otherwise she gets annoying. How does Sunny deal with that lol especially because Ik you said he's not very communicative and there's things he doesn't tell.
I'm having trouble organizing my thoughts so I'm putting this into different posts btw
Sorry lol I swear I have more in mind than I can type. This is probs a disappointingly short post.
