Whatever time it is, the watch is just off by like a minute or two.
Offline
"See?" He held up his arm so Rai could see. "It's still not right. I guess I could set it back to normal, but it's never malfunctioned like this before."
Offline
Well, Rai doesn't have a precise digital clock in his mind. It takes him a few seconds to guess that whatever the time is, it's off and somehow Dion knows. "How many minutes was it off by before?"
Offline
"The minute number flipped back once..." he said rather pensively, thinking back to the events of the morning. "Then the seconds display kept on going back and forth. And then I don't know. I got attacked, and the screen brightness got screwed up." Dion messed up his hair a little nervously. "Guess it's lucky that the clock isn't synced to my mental one. It would've been a disaster otherwise."
Offline
He didn't say anything for a few moments, then: "How does it work?"
Offline
"Eh? The screen? It's supposed to work like a normal device, but controlled mentally or something. Of course, it can also work separately to change certain features, but it normally shouldn't be affected by external factors, whatever those may be." Dion narrowed his eyes, thinking. "But I'm not 100% sure of how it works."
Offline
"If you're affected externally, how does it remain unaffected?" he questioned, slightly concerned for how Dion didn't understand something about his own mind, or related to it at least.
Offline
"It's... I don't know, really," he said, still fidgeting with his hair. "My best guess is that it's some sort of internal connection? I never really tried looking into it, even though it's technically a part of myself. Eh.... didn't think it'd have issues..." He blushed a little at his own negligence.
Offline
"I don't think I can conclude anything solidly," Rai said. "Apologies about that. But if we look into it, it might help..."
Offline
"That's... that's fair," he sighed, nodding and still pink-cheeked. "My fault for asking about something without even knowing about it myself. But it's still unsettling. And thanks by the way."
Offline
"I'm not that competent," he said with a slight smirk. "No problem." He started sorting out the plastic bags just then.
Offline
((Ah yes I was starting to wonder where the smirk had gone))
"What'd you bring?" Dion finally stood from the table, his hair a total mess.
Offline
"Food," came the simple response.
Offline
"What kind of food?"
Offline
"The edible kind, fortunately," he joked, "the kind that's not metal."
Offline
Dion just sighed. "Not like metal food exists anyways!"
Offline
He thought about asking "Then what did you eat back in the Cyber Sect?" for the 8th time, but he didn't, instead just sorting out the items carefully.
Offline
"I'm going to take a probably bad decision and go into the kitchen," he said.
Offline
"Alright, good luck," Rai said. "You'll probably come back alive."
Offline
Dion got his dish and started towards the kitchen. He was very alert.
Offline
"Hey, I can carry over the dishes," Rai said abruptly, starting off after him. "I'm technically the host so it's my duty to do house chores and stuff. Not that those two can do--"
Which is just about the time Wiley runs past them, his hair wild, screaming something about nourishment.
Raez pokes his head out of the kitchen like he's done with life. Or done with keeping Wiles in the kitchen.
Offline
Dion cringed back a step, eyes narrowing from the sudden screams. He briefly looked back at the direction Wiley went in. Then he looked at Raez, briefly glancing at Rai in the process.
He shrugged.
Offline
"Oh hey," Rai said to Raez like a chemist hadn't just passed by screaming.
"Hi."
Offline
"Thanks for keeping him in," Dion remembered to say.
Offline
"I'd say no problem, but that was the worst experience of my life," Raez grumbled, "so gratitude accepted."
Offline
"But how'd you manage to stay silent all the while?"
Offline
He grumbled, "I managed."
Offline
"And what about him?" He meant Wiley.
Offline
"He wanted food, I guess."
Offline
"Hope he gets some," he commented and continued into the kitchen.
