OKAY so first starting, I use a lot of saturation. You can definitely see it in Alma's and Silence's pride month art. I like how colours look that way ajjdkskd idk how to explain that part lmao.

Okay, going into how I use colours for shading



Okay, so for the chibi and normal man, I couldn't use my special brushes because our wifi pwned itself during that time and I had to improvise with Ibis Paint X's dip pens and air brush, while for the hand I used one of my special brushes (although I didn't use the fade pen like I usually do for highlight)

I personally don't use multiply layers a lot, but in this one I did for the chibi and normal man. So Imma explain how I use multiply when I do use it.



Okay, so when I use multiply, I have two versions:

-Same layer and then double layer
-Merge down and use colour wheel/colour picker


Okay, so with the first method, I def did this with chibi and normal man. So what I did was use a sort of saturated bluish colour on a multiply layer. First, I coloured in the whole coloured part (btw, I use different layers for hair, skin, eyes, ect, so I had to make multiple multiply layers), and then I used an airbrush eraser where the light was hitting. I adjust the transparency of the layer depending on how dark I want the shadow to be
Next, I make another multiply layer over. Using the same colour, I shade in where the shadows would be darker, and then adjust layer transparency
For the scattered light on the edges of the shadows, I use a pinkish orange colour and and airbrush, filling in along the edge. BTW I make another clipping layer for this so I can adjust the transparency lmao. Lots of layers
For the highlights, you can see on the hair I used a light purple blue colour. Idk why I added this other than aesthetic. I have the blue match with the shadow's blue (kinda, just different tints)
For the eyes and on the nose and lips of Normal Man, I used white (although I should have used a whitish blue instead of pure white)

The second method is used by making the multiply layer and colouring over the skin after I do normal shading (like what I did with the hand in picture above, I did normal colour shading with that)



Kid Apollo's drawing is an example of this

What I did was colour it without the effect of the background, so basically if he was in natural light. After that, I used some multiply layers and colour pick from the background, and then colour over and adjust layer transparency. I use an airbrush eraser to make some parts lighter in certain areas and layers. After that, I merge the multiply layers down and add in more colouring by colour picking and adjusting colours on the colour wheel to what colours I want to add in. It gives the effect of what the background would do to the colours without stressing too much of how to match the colours up


Now, for my normal shading. What I do is make a layer over the base colour (clipping, obvi), and then colour pick the base layer. Btw when I colour shade, my pen's transparency is turn down to 19%. Okay, so then I adjust the colour depending on if I'm doing a warm or cold drawing. For warm colours, I just move the colour wheel adjuster to more orange/yellow, and as well as I use red for darker areas (as seen in hand drawing). For cold colours I go straight to blue and purples. For the mixing of colours, I colour pick in between colours and add that colour in, and I do this on repeat. Now, for the highlights/lighting, this really depends on the background. For the hand I used cyan to give an effect of bouncing light as I didn't have a background to colour pick from. If I do colour pick a background, I might make the lighting a lighter/whiter shade. It's also to be noted that colour/light bouncing can also happen in shadows. For lighting I usually use the fade pen and set it to 19% lmao

For colour aesthetics, I actually sometimes chose colours that don't really go together. Like for Alma's pride month drawing, none of the colours he wore really exactly matched, although they were part of saturated monotone. I just did that because of how visual kei can look lmao

Btw I was mostly referencing how I shade skin. How I do eyes, hair, and clothes is slightly different, but does have some similarity depending on texture

OH ADDING ON TO SKIN SHADING

I use certain colors for certain skins when skin shading. You can notice this in the one drawing I did of Forums Galaxian and Silence

Like for Silence, I use blues and greys for shading to make her look more "deathly" or "dead-looking", kind of like a corpse? While for Galaxian I used oranges and purples to make him look more alive in contrast to Silence

It kinda depends on how more "dead" or "alive" I want to make a character look and what undertones I imagine they would have

Not exactly, on traditional platforms I actually mix in even more colours. But in the sense of using cool or warm colours and giving certain visual effects, then yea kinda the same

Okay so basically we was at "my house" (it was a random house lmao, but in-dream it was my house which was weird), and it was Halloween whxjsjjwk and so we were getting dressed up to trick or treat and I dressed up as Wiley and you dressed up as Malaika and whdjsjjd my dream only got up to the part where I needed my wig and you were still getting dressed and I will never be as disappointed as when I woke up and we didn't get to the trick or treating part sjjfjsjn my mom also teased you a lot which was funny XD
