Elaine nodded, doing as Ruin said, holding the flame steady. At one point the fire started to flare up which made Frances flinch (he is flammable after all) but Elaine managed to get it under control. She looked really pleased with herself, her face lit up by a huge grin.

"Okay, you can stop and take the blindfold off," Ruin said.
Offline
Elaine clapped her hands together and the flame disappeared. She untied the blindfold and looked around "Hehe did you s- wait where's Apollo?"
"He left I think.." Frances answered.
"And you just let him walk out!" Elaine exclaimed "I gave you one job Frances, one job!! It's not that hard!" She scolded and Frances flinched. He mumbled a quick sorry before also leaving to look for Apollo. Elaine huffed, crossing her arms.
(have i mentioned I want to punt Elaine, bc I defenitely want to punt Elaine. Ma baby frances doesn't deserve any of this mistreatment)

Ruin stopped Frances before the guy could leave, saying, "My Lord has requested to be left alone with as little life presence nearby as possible. I would recommend staying away from his room, he's... taking a nap."
There was a bit of a smile in Ruin's voice at the last part as he found humour in this, but he quickly cleared his throat and added, "Miss Elaine, let me feel your hands."
He walked up to her and put his hands out, waiting for Elaine to let him examine her skin.
Offline
Frances brushed Ruin off, looking to Elaine to see if she's gonna ask him to go regardless. Elaine just sighed and shook her head, though she still looks visibly annoyed. She gave her hand to Ruin while Frances stood off to a corner and watched.
Offline
Ruin felt her hand for a bit, trying to feel for a burn and trying to sense any pain or irritation. If there is pain, irritation, or a burn, that's up to to the other Narrator lol.
Offline
The other narrator deems Elaine's hands are perfectly fine. What can I say, she's a lucky girl.
Offline
Ruin nodded to himself, letting go of Elaine's hands and saying, "Very well for your first time. Do you wish to try again or take a break?" Ruin is kind of treating her as a human, but to be fair he was raised by humans and had to teach human children magic.
Offline
"No no, let's continue!" Elaine seemed really excited to keep going.
Offline
"Okay. Blindfold yourself again."
Offline
This time, Elaine put the blindfold on herself. Ignoring Frances.
Offline
"Alright, do what I told you earlier, but now let's test boundaries. Try to make and control a large flame."
Offline
"okie!" It took a couple of tries, but eventually she managed to create a flame again and started testing her boundaries. The flame was growing bigger by the second and it might be getting a bit out of hand (haha pun). Elaine seemed almost drunk on the power, feeling like she could do anything, it's like the sense of euphoria you get when you achieve something you thought was unimaginable.
Frances seemed really uncomfortable, but he was also scared to leave the room.
(Annnnnnnnnnd there she is, the power hungry tyrant I intended her to be)
Offline
Ruin "watched", aka sensed how much magic she was using. He didn't do anything to stop or warn her, wanting to find out if she could keep the flame calm or if the flame would burn her and/or Frances, or if the flame would become too much for her to handle.

Elaine did what she always does, push limits without care and keeps doing whatever she wants. The fire was roaring when she finally realized it was too big for her to contain. Then the panic sets in as she realized she messed up.
Offline
Once sensing her panic, Ruin walked up to Elaine and grabbed her hands. The fire immediately went out, and Elaine could probably feel that her hands felt ice cold and numb. He sighed and pulled his hands back, his own hands red and burnt, the smell of his burnt skin slight in the air. He didn't seemed to care much that his hands were burnt, nor did he seem to care that his hands were in pain.
Crossing his arms, Ruin said, "You have potential to become a great magic user, but your lack of focus and control of your emotions is going to be a downfall. I'm not sure why that happened, I'm assuming 'first-timer's arrogance'. Would you like to explain to me why that happened?"
Offline
Elaine practically tore her blindfold off, stammering through a response "I um, I- donno the flame just uh," for some reason Ruin's question made her panic even more. "I... I don't have to explain myself to you." Her tone had an obvious shift, she sounds more guarded and sharp. Elaine crossed her arms and raised her chin, trying to keep her composure.
Frances quietly left the room to go get some bandages and salves for Ruin's burns.
(Frances is a literal angel omg I don't deserve him, he's so good)
Offline
Well, Ruin is blind so he isn't very intimidated by Elaine's superior composer, nor does he care that Elaine is panicking.
Ruin showed her the burns on his hands. The skin was gross, already peeling and slightly bleeding. He was calm and monotonous.
"You owe me more than an explanation, Miss Elaine, but if you don't want to, you don't have to. Whatever it is, make sure it doesn't happen again. My hands can only take so much burning before it actually starts to be a problem for me and my work."
(Frances is amazing owo)
Offline
Elaine flinched at the sight, burned skin doesn't look good no matter how much gore you're used to. She could feel the settling in her stomach and crawling up her throat as she swallowed down an apology. "Right, it won't happen again." She said stiffly, looking away from Ruin.
Frances returned with all the things he needed and reached for Ruin's hands "this might hurt a little so I hope you don't mind." He said softly.
(Ever just make a OC and think "omg you are baby and deserve the whole entire world." In conclusion, Elaine is an idiot for not dating Fran, Frances is literally a gift from heaven and I don't even believe in god so that says a lot.)
Offline
"Hm? Go ahead. My pain tolerance is high. Years of pain training really works well for situations like these." There was a slight smile at the end.
(XD MOOD THO)
Offline
Frances doesn't question the pain training thing, instead he began treating the wound with delicate and experienced hands, trying his best to minimize Ruin's pain. "Right, that burn is a really nasty wound, I suggest you swap out the bandages every day at least to keep it from getting old and infesting. I don't deal with burns a lot so I'm not an expert, perhaps go see a doctor as soon as you can, I'm sure they'd be of more help than me."
Elaine silently watched Frances with a mixture of curiosity and impatience. It suddenly crossed her mind that it could've been Frances who got burned instead of Ruin and she felt a little sick at the thought. "Could we...maybe try something not as dangerous as fire? I donno like water or ice or something?" She suggested.
Offline
Ruin wasn't used to being touched gently or being helped with wounds. In fact, he always dealt with them himself, so he went into a quiet state of not knowing how to feel and a bit of touch-starved shock. He is very unsure of how to react or if he even is fine with being treated, so Ruin made a blank face and tried to keep his emotionless tone constant. It took him a bit to answer Elaine.
"Hmm... even those dangerous effects if not handled correctly, like drowning yourself or getting ice burn or frostbite. I would suggest one element at a time, but if you wish to learn more at once then sure."
Offline
"oh." Elaine said, going quiet. "I see... um I'm sure I can manage."
Offline
"Then next we will do ice. Is that fine?"
Offline
"Yeah sure!" Elaine's excitement is back now, her eyes lighting up again. "Oh um Frances, you can go leave and take a walk if you want I don't want you to-" She hesitated, it's difficult for her to express her concerns.
"It's ok, I understand. Have fun, I'll be back in a bit." Frances waved, heading out the door.
Offline
Ruin, once Elaine was ready, instructed, "Blindfold yourself."
Offline
Elaine obeyed and put on the blindfold again.
Offline
"Okay. Now, like with fire, you need to focus on a point. This time, instead of heat, focus on how cold your body is and try to move that chill to your hands."
Offline
Elaine nodded. It was harder to focus on the cold since normally she runs hot. Bits of frost begins to form on the tip of her fingers.
Offline
"Good. Now keep yourself calm and relaxed. Imagine ice floating between your hands, imagine the cold traveling into the air and freezing up into a small crystal. Focus on the stinging cold, let it travel and flow."
