At this rate, he's going to end up with his arms all bruised up. "I think you're throwing it too hard," he muttered. "Maybe I can't do it."
Offline
Kiaane doesn't encourage him or say otherwise. They just summon the staff back.
Offline
"I want to keep on watching. You're really good at it!"
Offline
"See for yourself over time that that statement is false."
Offline
"I refuse to believe that," he answered while sitting down again and checking his arms for bruises.
Offline
Kiaane's expression was supposed to signify "Believe what you wish", except it didn't change.
Offline
Martin gets ready to start watching again. He had a vague idea that, if he observed long enough, maybe someday he'd be able to be good at a similar action.
Offline
Which is when Kiaane, who thinks Martin is still sticking to that phrase about not being able to do it and then possibly proving himself wrong, launches the staff at him again.
Offline
Though once more he was not expecting that, Martin did react quickly to grab the staff. Except he probably did it wrong. And he half-scooted backwards.
Offline
Well, he half-catches it, but if he lets go, it's bound to go sploink right down to his knee. At least it's not his face, right?
Offline
Martin fumbled with it for a few seconds and surprisingly didn't quite drop it, even though his movements were quite clumsy. He stared at it for a while.
Offline
Kiaane doesn't particularly want the weapon back (or they wouldn't have tossed it at least 3 times), though it had been their object of "study" for a while, so it could be said they're staring in that direction vaguely as well.
Offline
He tightened his grip on the staff, looking up from it to Kiaane. But he didn't do anything.
...maybe it's awkward? Martin doesn't think so.
Offline
They just continue their stare. If one of these two had more social skills, it is quite awkward.

R.I.P.
"When did you learn to grab the stick?"
Offline
"Staff."
Offline
"Isn't it just a fancy word for a stick?"
Offline
"No.“
Offline
"Hm," he mumbled. "Well, how did you learn to grab the staff?"
Offline
They tilt their head. Basically, "Yes."
Offline
"Haaa? That's not an answer..."
Offline
They un-tilt their head. Like an owl.
Offline
"Oh! Can you do more things? Things other than making the sti- staff appear?"
Offline
A pause. "Why would I not?"
Offline
"I don't know. But everyone else in the family is talented, so of course you should be able to do more cool and powerful stuff!"
Offline
"Talent is an illusion."
Offline
"Weeeeell, I don't wanna talk about that!" He exclaimed. "If you can do more things, would you mind showing them to me?"
Offline
"Why not?"
Offline
He pouted a little. "I don't like talking about it."
Offline
"Likes are illusions as well," they said blatantly, "along with desires."
Wait what? I didn't design you to be this way--
well, okay, kinda did.
Or maybe they just came back from a conversation with Ryoo. And added some pessimistic realism.
