Elaine scowled "Well aren't you no fun."
Frances glared at Ruin "Keep your hand off your sword." He growled, pulling Elaine away from the newcomer. Elli just rolled her eyes "I know how to take care of myself Frances."
Offline
Apollo put his hand on Ruin's shoulder and said, "Hey, take it easy now. This is the lady you're going to teach magic."
"Yes, sorry my Lord."
Ruin crossed his arms.
Apollo pointed at Elaine and Frances and said, "How about you guys introduce yourselves?"
Offline
"Introductions?" She sounded kinda confused "Oh well yes, I suppose not everyone knows my name, which is ridiculous if you ask me, but I'm Elaine Valentine. Queen of Edona and Goddess of Luck and Riches. This is Frances Payne, my bodyguard and best friend forever until the end of time!"
Frances just nods, he's a very quiet man.
Offline
Ruin made no reaction other than saying, "I will make sure to memorize your names."
To be honest, Ruin is still tense, his body ridged and his tail still swishing. He has a bit of a monotonous voice now.
"Elaine, would you like to start learning magic now or wait until later?" Apollo asked.
Offline
"Now! Of course I'd like to learn it now!" Elaine exclaimed, paying no mind to Ruin's clear discomfort.
Offline
"My Lord, is this room we are in empty enough to start?" Ruin asked.
"Yep! We summoned you in a pretty empty room."
Ruin nodded, thinking for a moment.
He asked, "Miss Elaine, are you able to sense the presence of other beings?"
Offline
"I mean...I can sense like your existence if that's what you mean? I know you, bird boy, and Fran Fran are here. Is there something else I'm supposed to sense?" Elaine asked, tilting her head a bit.
(She's never gonna call Apollo by his name)

"Can you sense how close to you I am? Like, if I got closer, would you be able to tell?"
Offline
"Obviously, I can see you getting closer to me!" She crossed her arms "What kind of question is that."
Offline
"No, I mean without your eyesight, dumbass," Ruin hissed.
"Ruin, don't call her that." Apollo sweat dropped.
"Yes, my Lord."
Offline
"I suppose I could if I focus enough.." Elaine isn't lashing out at Ruin for what he said, the only thing holding her back is that voice in her head telling her it'd be a terrible idea to murder the dude who's gonna teach her magic.
Offline
"Hmph, good enough. First, we going to to see if you can at least create a small flame. Someone blindfold her."
Offline
Frances opened his mouth to protest but was cut off by Elaine “Right...does anyone have anything I can use as a blindfold? Perhaps, Frances can you go fetch me a towel or something? I donno, what do most people use for blindfolds?” She looked around the empty room, hoping something like a blindfold had just manifested out of nowhere somehow.

Apollo digged around in his bag for a bit before pulling out some cloth.
"Ah, this should work," Apollo said. He went up to Elaine and said, "Turn around so I can tie it."
Offline
Elaine actually snatched the cloth out of Apollo's hand and gave it to Frances "Fran can tie it." It seems no matter how hospitable she is, there's still a hint of paranoia in there somewhere.
Frances obeyed without complaint, working quickly and swiftly. He mumbled something under his breath that made Elaine laugh.
(sometimes I wish I had what elli and fran has, and then I remember their relationship isn't actually as good as I hoped it was)
Offline
When Elaine took the cloth away like she did, Apollo cringed back, a slight flinch. He stepped away, staring at the ground. Perhaps in that moment Elaine's movement had startled him, or perhaps reminded him of something. Apollo started to stare off into space.
Ruin asked, "Is it on her yet?"
(Ope)
Offline
"Mhm, the blindfold is on sir!" She chirped. touching the blindfold "yep, definitely on"
Offline
"Good. First step: relax your body. The more tense you are, the weaker and more erratic the flame will be, and your focus will end up all in your muscles rather than your mind."
Offline
"Ok," Elaine took a deep breath and tried to relax, steady breathing and calming thoughts. Slowly her body relaxed, all the tenseness was gone and she let out a little yawn.
Offline
"Next, clear your mind of everything else."
Offline
"Mhm." Elaine nodded, trying to do just that.
Offline
"Now, we are going to create the flame in between your palms. Focus on the heat in your body, imagine it all going to your hands. Focus on that heat, and then try to move it into the air between your hands. Imagine a delicate flame, the flame that brings life and warmth. Imagine the warmth in the air from the flame, bring all the warmth in between your hands."
Offline
“Right...” she murmured, trying to follow Ruins words. She tried to do as he said but it was surprisingly hard.
Offline
"Bring some of your body's energy into it, some of your life source. Flames are alive, moving, and warm. Make sure to keep your body relaxed; take deep and slow breaths."
Offline
Her eyebrows scrunched together as she concentrated, which was the exact opposite of relaxing her body. Elaine was getting more and more frustrated by the second.
Offline
"Hey, what did I say? Calm down or you won't be able to make a flame. Take a deep breath, slowly. If you give up so easily, do you think you will get better? I hope not, that's terrible thinking," Ruin scolded. "Relax your muscles."
It's a wonder of how Ruin is able to tell how Marsh is reacting since he's blind.
Offline
Ok, ok breath Elaine, breath she chanted to herself, trying to calm herself down. The darkness from wearing the blindfold isn't really helping but what is helping is Frances silently resting his hand against the small of her back. She relaxed a lot more, almost leaning into him as she tries to concentrate the heat into her hands the way Ruin told her to.
Offline
Apollo left the room quietly.
Ruin focused on his ability to sense magic, trying to sense if Elaine was close to creating a flame. He walked around her and Frances a bit.
Offline
Thankfully luck was on her side and by some kind of miracle a few sparks began to form hands, soon erupting into a small flame.
Offline
"Good, now hold it steady. Hold it as long as you can, but don't overexert yourself. Can you feel it's heat? Make sure you keep it calm and controlled, as you should be yourself."
