"Um..." He looks around a bit nervously, letting out a sigh of relief after realizing Apollo seemed to be alone "I'm doing fine sir, how about you? Are you enjoying your stay?"
Offline
"I am enjoying it, the palace is very beautiful," Apollo nodded. Apollo looked down at the feather duster and asked, "You dust the palace? Is it hard to do sometimes?"
Offline
"Oh, well um someone has to keep the library tidy. Usually this area would be that Payne boy's job since the queen doesn't let any of us near here but for some reason he's occupied today so I was assigned to do some light dusting in only a few rooms." He shifts the duster in his hand "It's not a hard job really..."
Offline
"Do you ever get bored?"
Offline
"Who doesn't get a bit bored at times." he shrugged "It's good pay though so I can't really complain."
Offline
"Well, at least it's good pay. You know your coworkers well?"
Offline
"Well yes kind of, there's a few who's here for the long term but most people just work here for a few weeks and never come back. Can't really fault them, after all I heard the queen is a mass murder-" The servant boy stopped abruptly, going still. "Ah sorry I'm not supposed to..." he looks around nervously, then hurriedly in one breath he muttered "please-don't-tell-the-queen-I-said-anything."
Offline
"Hey, hey, calm down," Apollo said softly. He looked concerned, worried for the boy.
"I won't say a word. Afterall, it's important for you to keep your job, yes? I wouldn't fault you for being scared. Hmm... but, if you don't mind me asking, the whole 'mass murder' thing is a rumour, correct? As well, can you tell me more about it?"
Offline
"Ah well I'm um, relatively new so I don't know much but the rumors were..." his voice trailed off as he hesitates, leaning closer to Apollo and lowering his voice "the rumors say, well, apparently the queen was a mortal who turned into a goddess and upon her return as a deity, she slaughtered all the rebels who drove her out in the first place. Personally I think it was Payne who did it, they say he's a vampire you know..."
Offline
"Hm, interesting..." Apollo nodded, taking mental notes. "I never met a vampire before. Hmm... how about you? Human, I'm assuming? What do you think of other species of beings?"
Offline
"Oh well um, vampires are evil right? They drink blood and stuff and kill things so that's not very good. I'm not sure why a vampire is even allowed here, kind of dangerous dontcha think? I mean I don't mind magical creatures, like fairies and things, but dark creatures are obviously dangerous so I don't know why the Queen allows one to roam so freely..." He's rambling a bit, who knew the palace staff would be such gossips.
Offline
"Hm, I don't mind dark creatures any," Apollo shrugged. "What is your take on demons?"
Offline
"D-demons, they're evil obviously...but demons can't get to us if we're so close to a god right?"
Offline
"Hm, probably," Apollo said. He looked troubled for a moment, but covered it up with a polite smile.
"What do you think about other deities?"
Offline
"Hm? I mean deities are supposed to be good right? That's another reason why I don't think her majesty committed the crime, a goddess wouldn't do something so horrible. A vampire though...I wouldn't put it past a vampire to do something like that.."
Offline
"Hm... Have you ever met a vampire face to face? Had a conversation with one?"
Offline
"What kind of question is that? Of course not, I have a sense of self preservation you know."
Offline
"But if you never talked to one, how can you really know what they're like?"
Offline
"They drink blood, they live off of other people! Willingly interacting with one is like a prey running straight towards their predator!"
Offline
"What do you know about demons?"
Offline
"...well nearly nothing but there's stories you know and I've heard things... about them."
Offline
"Can you tell me the things you have heard?"
Offline
"Stories... uh sure. Demons making deals and sending people down a path of sin, tricking innocents into acts of violence. They're monsters."
(i want to punt this dude omg, i am so out of my depth, as a cryptid enjoyer i am so out of my depth. I want to punt this dude so hard omg, I apologize to every demon out there I do not mean any of this, i'm sure yall are sweet and amazing)

Apollo found this amusing, tilting his head back and laughing softly.
"Actually, one of my servants is a demon," Apollo said with a lazy grin. "Sweetest thing, he is, although a bit protective of me. He has a bit of a sharp mouth too, I guess, but he's never tried to strike a deal with others, nor does he fancy violence. And the only demon I know who has ever tried to make deals with other people is a businessman and lawyer, and he ain't half-bad either. Real nice dude once you get to know him well enough, and he's good to know if you need help in knowing if you're getting a good product or not."

The servant was wide eyed and speechless. What he's known as fact since he was a kid, that dark creatures were dangerous monsters, has just been disproven by this complete stranger. Of course the queen would have freak friends like this, he had thought.
(Why am I so prone to writing the types of characters I hate the most)

"Oh, here, let me show you some pictures." Apollo pulled out his phone. He pulled up a picture and showed the servant.
"His name is Ruin! Isn't he cute?"
Apollo sounded almost like a proud parent.
The photo showed a short demon kid. He had a pouty, child-like face, nothing harmful showing other than some pointy teeth past his lips. He had long ears and pretty, glossy ram horns, and a metallic lizard tail. He was holding up a strange, lilac-furred cat with six legs, seeming to be talking to it. His eyes were strange, pale orange and unfocused.
"Well, to be truthful, he's actually half human and demon. Oh, and let me show my lawyer friend."
The next photo he showed was one of two people, a tall baby blue haired fellow and a shorter dark haired fellow.
"The one with blue hair is a wolf demon, if I remember correctly."
The blue haired one wasn't looking at the camera, and his eyes were covered by his curly locks. He was pointing at something with a smile, fangs showing in his grin. To be honest, he actually looked very human other than his teeth and hair colour. The other guy beside him was looking at the camera with a surprised expression.

A series of emotions flashed across the servant's face, fear, curiosity, disgust, then back to fear again. "i think...I still have some shelves I should go dust..." his voice trailed off as he began backing away.
Offline
Apollo suddenly looked extremely sad. He tilted his head and looked away. Was he... trying to make the servant feel guilty for the sudden leave?
"Oh... Okay... I'm sorry for troubling you, sir. Have a nice day."

He bowed curtly "You too sir." He said, quickly turning around and leaving.
A small, tired, sigh came from behind Apollo, from Frances.

Apollo suddenly perked up after the servant was gone, laughing lightly.
"Huh, guess I scared him away. Oh well, onto the next servant!"
Apollo started to skip away.
