"But don't you think we should get special pickles for a picnic?"
Offline
Hitan tries to show the puzzlement he's feeling. "What are special pickles?"
Offline
"Big pickles. Or the pickles from that Subway place.'
Offline
Well, one thing is sure, Hitan hadn't thought that those were special pickles by any chance, but the experience sure was a special one. It was the only one where he had ever worked for somewhere and ended up amassing more debts than he earned in a way that didn't involve external factors making things go horribly wrong. He'd stuck to being a teacher to earn income for the two of them since then.
That led him to one of his thoughts, about whether Helen would want to go out to work in the future. If there was a future. Still, how would she fare out there? Well, maybe he could dissuade her from working in any restaurant with pickles and/or napkins in it. That was a start, right?
He wasn't sure. He wasn't sure about anything, no matter whether it was in the more dire future or in one where happiness could be present without risking itself to be snatched away.
Realizing he took her words to an extent of thought much greater than necessary, he stops acting like a sponge and tries to focus back on reality. "I suppose that means you are willing to pick out the cucumbers yourself, then?"
Offline
"Cucumbers?" Helen frowned. "I want pickles, not those."
Offline
Hitan makes a sighing noise that's more indicative of him nearly laughing. "Helen, pickles are made from cucumbers," informs the angel.
Offline
"Wait but I thought--" Helen blinked. "They...come from cucumbers? Really?"
Offline
Hitan nods in confirmation.
Offline
"That's so weird," she mumbled..
Offline
"How so?" Hitan finds most things unconfusing, though one should see him when he does find something confusing. He acts like an owl. That's not to say he isn't acting like one now, since he tilts his head just like one.
Offline
"They taste and look completely different!"
Offline
"Is that the case? That is...not what I recall." Hitan can recall both quite easily because he has experience with both making cucumbers and pickles. He, in teacher fashion, wonders if he could make a visual representation.
Offline
"What do you mean? Have you never had pickles and cucumbers before?"
Offline
"That statement was directed towards the look, not the taste," he specifies, adding as further clarification: "I do not eat pickles, remember? I reserve them for you." He thinks a bit more, internally sighing a bit when he realizes that even if he didn't reserve them, he still couldn't eat them if he wanted. R.I.P.

{I'm here for my regular, very late visit XD}
Helen shook her head. "No, you should be allowed some. That's nice and all, but pickles should be shared."
Offline
Not going to lie, both Hitan and the narrator are a bit caught off guard by that. Hitan's surprise doesn't show, however--though he does show a little smile. He seems a bit pleased, maybe a little amused as well. "Well, I cannot eat much of anything," the angel speaks, "so I am fine with leaving them for you." He adds, "However, that is a nice attitude to have with others, especially those who wish to eat pickles as well. So, on behalf of those entities, I shall say that I appreciate it. For now, regarding the prior question...do you wish to personally pick out cucumbers?"
