((does he get enough sleep,,,))
Dion followed the cart with his eyes. Hmm.
Offline
The cart is heading for the wall at a leisurely pace. Yay.
Offline
Will it crash? Well, Dion didn't feel like standing up and even less like trying to stop it. He just looked at it.
Offline
The cart stops half an inch before the wall. Maybe that's impressive too.
Well, Dion's not gonna look at Wiley, but the guy's actually pretty cute while sleeping. For now, at least, before any sleep-talking/screaming and kicking starts, though that's uncommon for Wiley naps.
Offline
Lol no Dion's not looking at Wiley or planning to look at him.
He contented himself with turning his sight from the cart to his fingers. Just waiting.
Offline
Thought so.
Hmmm, wonder where Rai is. He's still not back yet.
Offline
Does it look like Dion cares? okay, maybe he does care a little.
Well, he could wait for a bit longer, yeah. What he wouldn't do was to go out to look for Rai when there was a large possibility he'd get lost himself.
Offline
Don't provide tsundere behavior as fuel to the imaginary but disturbing fandom, Specter.
The narrator shrugs. Just fulfilling narrator duties, Dion.
More time ticks by. Don't know where Rai is.
Offline
((asdskjddkjsdksjkjs))
Dion proceeded to softly tap his fingers again the side of his chair.
Offline
The tapping acts like a makeshift sort of tick-tocking of an imaginary clock. Tick-tock, tick-tock, off-rhythm and barely on the beat.
Wiley turns a bit. Even in a chair, his movement jolts where he's sitting. But for a while longer the time flows by peacefully, even if it's a bit jagged and off somehow.
Unknown to Dion, Wiley's eyes open a little bit, the luster of his irises boring into the door.
Offline
((Misread the last part at first and I thought the door got bored lol))
Dion's tapping got faster for a couple seconds before becoming frantic for an instant and then stopping completely.
The teenager shifted once again. He tried to draw up his legs.
How much more? How much more time would he wait?
Offline
(Oof xD)
Wiley catapults himself towards the door without warning, making the chair scream (loudly) in protest.
Offline
Dion screamed along with the chair, but just for a second. He only jumped up with a very brief "AAAa-" before settling down again with crossed arms and a deep frown.
Offline
Wiley doesn't even laugh, for once. He just catches the door as it swings open to reveal a very familiar young man with black hair, brown eyes, and the most monotone expression to pair with the rhetorical question "What on earth?" he just sent into the room.
Offline
Dion's frown vanished. He kept his arms crossed, but looked intently at the door to see what would happen.
Offline
"No, I speak," Wiley counters, pulling Rai into the room by the sleeve as he kicks the door closed. Uh, more gently than the word's connotation implies. "Firstly, why you so slow? Did you take a stroll around the place on purpose? Why do people even hire such a slowpoke? Actually, are you sure you don't lie about doing track? Second..." He pauses as if for dramatic effect. "My danger instincts have been peaking every minute. Talk about anxiety."
Rai responds to the all of the first three arguably-irrelevant questions with a shrug and then goes: "I agree."
Wiley pauses again and then whisper-shouts, "You agree? Then it sure took you a long time to get here!"
Offline
Since Dion had been listening in to the conversation, he straightened in his chair as if about to stand up. He didn't say anything yet.
Offline
"Yoww," Rai goes almost sarcastically but wincing in a way that's less characteristic of sarcasm. "I had reasons, including how this place is massive, Mister Unpredictable," he defends himself. "In any case though, say, shouldn't you have put more emphasis on the danger part?"
Offline
"There's danger again?" Dion finally spoke up from his place.
Offline
"If experience says anything, then yes," Rai responds calmly. "Though I think this time it feels a bit different for me. How about you, Wiles?"
"Usually it feels like my heart wants to abandon me," Wiley explains with all thoughtfulness. "This time it feels like it knows someone wants to eat it and is hiding inside of me, hoping I get eaten first."
Real thoughtful.
"And how about you? Have you felt something of the sort?" Rai questions Dion, unperturbed.
Offline
((Lol I love Wiley's example it's just xD))
"No? It's just that you were taking too long to return, somehow. It felt weird. Kind of... no, I don't have examples." He stood up to get closer to the pair. "But if you two confirm it, then I also say that something I can't define is weird."
Offline
"What if we're both wrong? Then I'm having a heart attack and chest palpitations for nothing." Wiley clutches his chest--the area where his heart is, specifically--dramatically. "That would be terrible."
Rai squints momentarily at Wiley like he's a puzzle he can't solve.
"Of course, Rai's usually not wrong," Wiley adds, noticing Rai's squint and stopping his act momentarily.
Offline
"So what does this mean? Is something actually happening??"
Offline
"Hmm, unsure. I'd say better safe than sorry for all three of us, but like I said, it's different." Rai pauses for a moment to look at his own bosom, as if what Wiley said about his "chest palpitations" was affecting him as well. "It's, like...it feels like it's getting farther away, somehow, but there's some other feeling increasing. That other feeling...isn't too pleasant either. Perhaps trepidation? Or perhaps the threat is very large, so much so to the extent that it can affect us even if it's farther away?" He pauses in his guesses to give Dion a somewhat serious look. "Both are only guesses," he says. Then, to Wiley: "Think that if Raez were here, he'd be able to tell the accurate distance?"
Wiley ponders that and scratches his head slightly. "...mmmmm, possibly." He looks deep in thought as well, as if he's trying to think of the best solution. Once again, reality proves that you thought way too highly of Wiley's willingness to take things seriously. Instead, he's grinning as he says to Rai, "Think he skedaddled ahead of time because he sensed the threat?"
Offline
"Now what, then? I've zero idea of what's happening or what could happen." Dion focused on the ground. "Plus, I don't have a say in whatever you decide to do."
Offline
"Good," Wiley goes, but actually with some logic this time around. "Since you don't know what's happening or what could happen, that's a good thing, no?" he adds on some reasoning. Wow.
"Well, neither do we," Rai reminds the scientist with a slight sigh. "Not specifically, anyways. Or we could avoid it each time. I could attempt to, anyways."
"Right, or what's the fun of it?"
"Fun?" Rai combs a hand through his hair in an almost exasperated fashion. "I wouldn't call it that, but...sure thing. Back to the situation at hand, I think it's better for us to presume that there is danger in the vicinity. So now, it's a matter of deciding whether we take this place as a bunker or go. Both alternatives have risks depending on the truth behind the situation."
Offline
"If we go, just remember I can't run much. And I have no idea of what would happen if we stay. But my opinion doesn't matter." Dion crossed his arms and bit his lip, not looking angry this time. Not serious either. That's a expression of slight concern he doesn't use much.
Offline
"It kinda comes down to this," Rai begins to explain. "There might be something causing the difference in how our instincts are manifesting this time." By 'our,' he means Wiley and him. "Might not. If there isn't, then it's probably just robots again. Which means that staying here would be a good option. But if there is..." He furrows his brow slightly. "Then there's almost no way to know what we should do. Depending on the threat and factors such as whether or not it's targeting us, its magnitude, distance from us, etc., then we would have to go by those factors to decide what to do. Problem is, we don't know."
"Can't you use your techy tech to try to find those factors?" Wiley questions.
"I did try." Rai shows some sort of device with a blinking yellow light. "It can't sense anything."
"It can't? Anything?" Wiley asks, though it sounds like he's in disbelief. He blinks at the yellow light--in fact, he's blinking at the same pace as it.
Rai makes a quiet sound of affirmation. "Yes. Whatever it is, I can't seem to track it." He adds, "But from this indication, it certainly doesn't seem like a metallic threat such as robots. If I had to guess, the threat is biological."
"So you're and we're back at square one," Wiley sighs. He flops against the wall like a dead fish. "Great."
Offline
"Uh, so no murderous robots this time? That's good, right?"
Offline
"Biological threats are usually worse than robots, to be honest," Wiley says, slurring the "to be honest" part on purpose. "It's like how robot friends are usually better than biological friends."
"...Thanks," Rai goes.
"You're welcome." Wiley slings the cyber agent a lazy grin.
