Re: Galaxian's Roleplaying Thread {Version Omega}

There was one time where Wiley told Rai as a joke, "One day someone's gonna wipe that smirk off of your face," and Rai turned his smirk up a notch and went with this incredibly creepy tone, "They can try" and scared Wiley
Wiley's not easily scared but that really caught him off guard
Rai looks scarier with purple eyes lol otherwise he looks pretty normal. Which is the point.

I wonder if I'm on the right track with POVing Rai. Like in the long run it seems okay but I'm not sure if he's developing. Then again me not knowing what's going on with him is also good because he's supposed to be that way. Confusing lol.

Re: Galaxian's Roleplaying Thread {Version Omega}

For once in my life I actually look okay on a recording lol. I cut my bangs so I'd look like Wiley (and rn my bangs are being okay so...in short, not like Wiley's) but it's unexpectedly good-looking lol. I also cut my hair a bit. It looks good. I'm worse at cutting bangs than any other part of the hair lol. It was just a trim anyways.
My hair's still down to my hip though lol so it's not like there's much difference
Also I'm smirking rn because I practiced and couldn't stop. The other day I tried to imitate the Mamba's expression and it stuck on me for the next few hours so I'm not doing that again

I find it funny how I have long hair but can't draw it
I don't know if it's the quality I'm not sure how to show, but yeah.
I should probably do more observation for that tbh

I can't draw short hair either lol; that was my type of hairstyle in the past. The hair lengths I draw well are actually what I never really had, which is weird xD

Re: Galaxian's Roleplaying Thread {Version Omega}

Love how I gave up on eye designs and started focusing more on personality and quirks and stuff because imo that's what I need to do
I mean it's good to do character design and that definitely needs to be worked on but characters with glam designs and boring personalities are just...ehhh. I'd rather focus on their personalities lol. As soon as I get attached to their personalities I draw them more anyways, which means more opportunity to improve design. And I'm more of a writer than an artist, so personality is much more important to story in any case.
e.g. I'm not attached to the 0RES and the Chinese sector enough, so I rarely draw them. They have good designs imo. Of course there's also a component of me not knowing how to draw clothing but shhhHhh
Lol idk I kinda liked Galaxian's eye design back then but my style outgrew it,,, I mean I rarely use the blocky light style I did back then lol, and I think it didn't fit me anyways
The only ones with eye designs that are noticeable now are Nagesh and Kiaane now that I think about it, ironically. Kiaane's isn't all that noticeable.
I think the most I do is I try to make colors somewhat unique. Like even for the Chinese sector, there are different shades of brown and stuff.
I'm really afraid of making personalities repetitive lol

Re: Galaxian's Roleplaying Thread {Version Omega}

I do like to describe eyes while writing though. I can't draw out what I write in that sense but I do believe in eyes being super important. Then again IRL my empathy mostly comes out by reading body language and expressions, not the eyes, so I'm not quite sure where my view is coming from.
I guess I don't think of my characters as being easily readable, so I make the emotions manifest somewhere. Idk if this is a habit I need to change though. I just find it weird to narrate for the facial changes of someone's expressions sometimes, but maybe that means I'm just not proficient enough for it.

Re: Galaxian's Roleplaying Thread {Version Omega}

Tbh I feel like ironically GGaD!Galaxian is actually not that empathetic. He doesn't really process and interpret emotions properly so it's more of a sympathy than an empathy.
Rai and Hitan though. Hitan especially. I think he has a lot of empathy that he can't show, so instead it manifests as him just reading everyone clearly on the basic level. For Rai...well, it's complicated, but he reads people really well. I probably don't show it well at all. But he's not influenced by others' emotions? Idk.
Raez has a high level of empathy (which I mentioned before), but surprisingly enough, Wiley also has a high capability for empathy. Instead he chooses (most of the time) to act like a psychopath or smhtn. I can't understand him
Empathy is a weird concept tbh. Like Kiaane technically also has high empathy, but they don't show it at all and I don't think anyone who's seen their character other than me would say they're empathetic. Well :shrug: also justified because I don't actually narrate their feelings.

Re: Galaxian's Roleplaying Thread {Version Omega}

I really need to solidify NS!Akuma's design before it's too late lol
I do know the designs of all five of my NationStates personas. Galaxian (the more logical one; he's not called Galaxian there), Galaxian (the one I do not know how to describe,,, I guess he tries to be logical), Rai (he's chill), another dude who I will not share the name of (also chill), and "Akuma" (not chill at all).
Akuma is like,,, politicians but they try to be dumb.
I think they wanna see how many assassins other countries will send to theirs to try to get rid of them

Re: Galaxian's Roleplaying Thread {Version Omega}

The concept sketch for NS!Akuma is actually quite nice in that it kinda captures their vibe. It looks like it was a portrait of a photo someone took of them where they slightly turned towards the camera and smiled "genuinely" in a lazy manner. They look like someone who you would not expect to wreak havoc across their own country. They look competent. But if you read their expression and the details a bit more, the truth starts to reveal itself. I like it, idk. Lol

Tbh if Death's how they are rn with Allen I don't even want to hear about any missions where they don't have to be so polite
Though I guess they're probably polite anywhere. "Greetings. Death has been sent to assassinate you. Please be cooperative; this will only take a while," they say like an assassination is as common as a cup of tea or like they're here as a household inspector to check the furnace.
What I'm gauging so far is that they're unnecessarily dramatic but I lowkey love it ngl

Re: Galaxian's Roleplaying Thread {Version Omega}

This is reminding me how I've only drawn Death accurately twice and once was in an universe where their personality was completely different.
They're much easier to draw with a neutral expression lol for some reason I haven't been able to draw them smiling or frowning
Actually, canonically, Death rarely frowns. They're either smiling or being neutral and I'm not sure which one is scarier because tbh the smile is supposed to be a very genuine and innocent one that gives horrible vibes (hence why it's so hard to draw,,, maybe I could do it better if I relied on knowledge of colors and background but I don't have any of that). And for the neutral one, they could technically always look neutral. So it's like, one can't tell if they're literally here to try to be company or they've been sent here to commit "legal" homicide
