Because it's 11 PM and I'm bored, get ready for my nonsense interpretation of this song for how it connects to SF!Echo

Whoo, okay, firstly, to start off with, it is VERY obvious that Echo hurts herself. It's been heavily implied, so yea. I feel like the "I hurt myself today to see if I still feel" fits well with Echo because she has a kinda disconnection between herself and her body due to never being "alone" in her body (Silence and Octave being two beings that have "shared" Echo's body). Obviously Echo is very used to pain, "The old familiar sting", but I personally interpret that part along with "Try to kill it all away, but I remember everything" as refernecing her memories. It's very much a big part of Echo's character that her memories have traumatized her and effects her greatly despite that she wants to forget them, and the pain of remembering everything that has happened to her has become familiar.

"What have I become?" Is very obvious, so moving on to "My sweetest friend, everyone I know goes away in the end". Throughout Echo's life, she had lost every single friend she has had in some form of death. Tbh I think about SF!Galaxian at the "My sweetest friend" part because she considers/considered Galaxian as her closest friend, in which she eventually "looses to death" at one point (although he technically didn't die??? Or there was like, some kind of replacement version of him after the original's death. It was really weird tbh, and the original plot was RPed like, a year ago and my memory sucks). Eventually Echo does actually believe that anyone she befriends will die due to her (up until this current point with SF!Time, which I swear to the gods if he dies I will scream). "You can have it all, my empire of dirt" maybe could be a reference to her bad thoughts and letting them out? Idk yet. "I will let you down, I will make you hurt" connects to Echo's terrible self-reflection/self-worth. It can also be Echo talking about Octave, because Echo has (iirc) referred to Octave as herself when talking to SF!Time (or she had blamed Octave's actions on herself, can't remember RIP). As well, this line can be seen as Echo warning someone else about herself, or/and it could be Echo's guilt of being "friends" (not exactly but they are??? I'm not even sure what exactly the relationship even is at this point) with Time. In-RP Echo had a pretty good, silent spiral over the fact that Time was helping her lol so yea

"I wear this crown of shit upon my liar's chair, full of broken thoughts I cannot repair beneath the stains of time" (oh my gods my auto corrected "liar's" into "lizard's" XD). Echo does in fact view herself as a "liar", the "crown of shit" references herself disgusing her pain. It's noted that Echo's family knows little to nothing of what Echo is going through due to Echo constantly lying and acting. As well, it's definitely agreed that Echo spirals at any given moment and cannot really collect herself. Ever. She's definitely not an organized person. "You are someone else, I am still right here" could be Echo talking to Octave, trying to separate the idea that they are the same person (which isn't confirmed if they are or not, and both switch back and forth between if they are or are not).

This could be seen as Echo wanting to be hopeful in wanting to find a way. BUT it could also be Echo imagining what it would be like if she was born in a different life. "I would keep myself, I would find a way" maybe being more like "keeping to herself and find a way to fix her own problems" so she wouldn't be anyone else's "problem to fix" (so, referencing her guilt from getting help). Aka, she imagining a life in which she wouldn't need other people or help so she wouldn't be a burden on others



So, yeah. Angst. Whee.

Gods I need to find a happier song for SF!Echo. Just one would be fine please
