"What was it like to have a family?" he asks suddenly, as if that hadn't happened. Strange. Even for someone who switches topics on a whim, that's not like him emotionally.
Offline
The question took Germaine a bit by surprise, but she readily answered.
"Well... it was nice. For me, I had people to which I could pour out all my love. We were very close." She smiled at the god.
Offline
"Did you have siblings?"
Offline
She nodded. "Yes! Four of them, actually."
Offline
"All your age?"
What kind of question is that, GalaxE??? Are siblings, like, 100 years apart in your view?
Offline
"Oh, no," she said with a half-laugh to lighten the conversation's mood. "I was the second oldest, and the others were quite younger."
Offline
"Oh." He nods his head a bit, lightly. "Was the family better with siblings?"
Offline
"Maybe it was. I don't think having siblings is a thing which can be measured in 'better or worse'." Germaine thought for a moment. "I enjoyed the company of mine. There were many things to share,'" she sighed sweetly. "I can't imagine my childhood without my siblings."
Offline
"I need to learn to share," Galaxian offers ever-so-helpfully. "That's what others say."
Offline
"It's a process," Germaine replied, "as beings tend to be selfish by nature."
Offline
"But I don't have much to share."
True.
Offline
She smiled. "Sharing isn't applied only to tangible objects. For example, just by being here, you're sharing your time and making me happy."
Offline
Past Galaxian would have found that something to easily smile about, but I think his smiling standards have somewhat risen. Or maybe he's just overthinking that. The deity makes a small "hmmmmm"ing noise.
It's not that complicated, GalaxE.
Offline
Germaine's encouraging smile kept up.
Offline
"I dunno," he says after a long while. "Maybe the time I have isn't that valuable."
Offline
A hint of indignation passed over Germaine's features, souring her smile for a split-second. "Don't say or even think that! It's not a matter of if it's valuable to you,but more of how others perceive it! And because of that, its value is... important. To me it is. To others too. Think of those who are happy to see you. Who smile at recognizing you, who want to be with you when the opportunity comes."
Offline
Galaxian looks much more worried with how she looked slightly discontent then he is with his apparent lack of self-worth, and maybe that's why, despite not being too convinced, he just doesn't say anything.
R.I.P. the silence he keeps throwing out, to be honest.
Offline
She let her gaze drift to the ground and stay there. Germaine felt Galaxian wasn't embracing the words as she wanted him to. But then, there was just so much she could do.
Offline
"Well," he finally says, "I guess I should thank you. That's probably the polite thing to do. And to say that I'm glad you think so and that I can continue being like that?"
I think that's the most awkward thing Galaxian's ever said, lol.
Offline
"Of course." Germaine took in air slowly as she spoke and nodded.
Offline
(Why am I getting the vibe Germaine feels done with life rn)
Galaxian kinda pumps his fist into the air as if in celebration. Don't think he did it to seem funny, but since usually he's a bundle of unbundled enthusiasm, it does seem fairly enthusiastic.
Offline
That movement actually returned Germaine's smile to her face. "That's the spirit."
Offline
"The spirit!" Galaxian echoes, mimicking his former movement on his other arm. To be honest, the movement is strong enough to make one worry for his nonexistent joints.
Offline
Germaine replied with a small fist pump as well.
If she felt any concern for Galaxian's joints, it didn't show for more than a second.
Offline
Galaxian's gaze flickers back to the ground and then to the path in front of them. His mouth tightens for a split second into a straight line, but then it's just his passiveness again.
Offline
Germaine pressed her hands together.
"If you're feeling like it, and if you're feeling well, we could continue on." Her expression shifted to a more serene one. "We can stay here for longer too if you'd like."
Offline
That gets a curious look from him--he had never felt unwell in the first place, really. That wasn't the way of putting it, at least. "I'm fine with doing whatever," he says.
Offline
"Let's keep on walking, then," she said, and added, "if it's okay with you."
Offline
"Sure." Galaxian starts again after a prompt nod. He looks out straight ahead as if looking past everything.
Offline
Germaine half-turned back to the path, starting to walk again with slow steps so as to let Galaxian catch up.
