"Or maybe it's not hungry."
Offline

More thinking time for Kiaan, I guess!
The cricket's not eating the apple, but it's guarding it like some sort of weird goalpost.
Offline

"So, what is it?" Martin stares straight at the cricket. "Are you full or do you like only apple?"
Offline

The cricket, not afraid of losing in a staring context, stares back but doesn't chirp.
Offline

Crickets don't blink, but Martin just did. Almost as if expecting an answer.
Offline

The cricket rolls over, apple slice and all.
Kiaan's kinda just standing there like they're not sure what to do with the sandwich now.
Offline

((So cute))
Martin looks back at Kiaane. "Are you going to eat that?"
Offline

"No," Kiaane says while looking like they're going through some sort of moral dilemma.
Offline

"Then are you saving it for later?"
Offline

"It will eat it later," they respond, looking at the cricket.
The cricket just rolls over more. Dunno what it's trying to convey.
Offline

Martin straightened. "I think it wants to play!"
Offline

Kiaan just looks slightly, even if only slightly, bemused. "Play?"
Offline

"Maybe it wants to roll around over and over and over," Martin observed, not quite as a reply to Kiaane.
Offline

The cricket no longer has space to roll in. It has squished itself against the bottom corner of the cabinet.
Offline

((Just realized this thread has an unholy number of views xD))
Martin stretched out to roll it to the other side.
Offline

(This is like a fanservice thread xD we have cute kid Martin, cute cricket, and Kiaan actually interacting kinda lol. Of course it has a holy number of views.)
The cricket wraps itself around the apple slice.
Offline

((Everyone loves the cricket :3))
"What do you want with that apple?"
Offline

The cricket kinda kicks its legs into the air briefly, though most of them are still wrapped around the apple slice.
Offline

Martin looked at Kiaane as if they'd have an explanation for the cricket's behavior.
Offline

Even if they do, they're really not the type of person to say it, are they? Or is that what's expected?
The cricket resumes wrapping all legs around the apple slice.
Offline

Martin tried to roll the cricket again.
Offline

I mean, it can kind of be rolled around, but be careful not to squish it.
Offline

Well, Martin's careful enough to not do that.
Offline

The cricket kinda seems to try to wrap some legs around his finger, but it doesn't have many legs left to do that; most of its legs are still wrapped around the apple piece.
Offline

Martin was amused by the cricket's movements. He half-grinned and picked the insect up, carefully of course.
"If the cricket also likes apples, then we can be good friends!"
The sentence was directed to Kiaane, but Martin wasn't really expecting an answer or anything like that.
Offline

Kiaan likes apples too, and so they kinda question why that logic is so straightforward, but they say nothing because they can't think of anything to say.
The cricket waggles its antennae.
Offline

Martin obviously can't do a similar gesture back because he doesn't have antennae, so he limited himself to repeatedly blinking his yellow eyes.

Its right antenna twitches.
No, guys, please, could y'all stop pulling different habits???
Offline

He gingerly stuck out his tongue to see what reaction it would prompt from the insect.
"Crickets don't have tongues, do they?"
Offline

"They do not," Kiaane answers.
Well, not in the technical sense, anyway, is what they're trying to say.
The cricket points the other antenna pointedly at him as if trying to mimic his movement. After a while, it juts its stomach out as well.
