Got Xenoblade Chronicles 2 when a friend recommended it and what is the deal with the giant level 80 laser ape in one of the early areas???

OOH XENOBLADE CHRONICLES 2!!
it's a very fun game and I enjoyed the plot a lot, hope you enjoy
and haha level 80 monsters in the Gormott area is probably really surprising to see first, I know I've been accidentally one-shotted many a time by it
I haven't played XCX and I have made barely any progress on XC1:DE but from what I understand overleveled boss monsters in areas tends to be a series staple, you really can't do anything but run

Just got Tora and I'll forever play as him when possible, despite the scene where he (spoiler? idk just in case)

activated Poppi for the first time. That was pretty weird why did they dwell on it for so long

I ended off at the part where (more spoilers)

you rescue Nia from the Titan battleship and she has a flashback about Jin rescuing her

Pretty fun!

Oh yeah there are definitely a few weird scenes :/ other than that though Tora's pretty loveable, and I do love Poppi an absolute ton

the saving Nia part, huh,,, it's been a while since I went through the beginning of the game but that means you're around the end of chapter 2?

Also, is it kinda like final fantasy where the stories are in different worlds and stuff? I kinda got that feeling from the games.

Just got back from a road trip and my body’s all sore... but I finished chapter three of Xenoblade Chronicles 2! Spoilers ahead!

The Akhos guy with the funny glasses really ticks me off somehow. I don't know what it is about him. I wish he would shut up about the clichés though.

However, a guy I did like was the dramatic guy with the pet turtle and the eyepatch. He's probably in cahoots with Jin but I still find him entertaining.

Anyways RIP Vandham 😔. What a great guy. But hey, at least we have Roc now and we obliterated Akhos's annoying blade, annoying both in personality and ability

Mythra's very different in personality compared to Pyra. I'm not sure why I expected them to be similar though. Mythra's very childish for an ultra-powerful being though at least Pyra's humble

Got another bruh moment scene with Mythra and Rex. I love Dromarch's sleeping cap though

So Malos is a blade huh. That raises some questions, like how a blade can have a blade or the identity of his driver (Jin?) or if he's even still a blade at this point.

I have not gotten a single rare blade from a rare core crystal. All my rare blades are from common core crystals or the scripted crystals like Roc's

Why is Nia so clueless about Jin's plans? Did he just not let her in on much or was she just not part of the team for very long?

I also got a bruh moment rare blade. It was an ice bunny thing with a southern accent. I was reluctant about using her because of her design but I wanted healer blades for Nia and she was a healer blade

I ended off at the point where you meet Tora's grandfather's lab assistant as my Switch was running low on battery at that point.

The Torna DLC is absolutely one of my favorites, it's so good (but it has pretty big mid/late game spoilers so it's advised that you don't play it until you're done with like chapter 7 or 8 I think)

Ah Akhos,,,, he's uh interesting I guess. Zeke (turtle eyepatch guy) though is amazing I love him, he's so silly but he's still a fantastic character

ah you met Mythra! I do admit she's rather childish, but I love her a lot (granted I don't know how much of that love for her comes from the DLC/late game). Pyra is definitely more shy and humble though

I think the thing with Nia is that she was still relatively new to Torna (and as such wasn't fully trusted with their plans) when she left?? I could be wrong though, it's been way too long since I went through the game and technically I haven't even finished it

oh yeah some of the designs are,,,,, "bruh" is a very good way to put it. I admittedly don't remember many of the rare Blades but considering the ones I do remember, they can be uh. questionable at times. Some of them are nice though

I was already planning on playing it after I completed the base game, but thanks for the heads up!
I completed chapter four and I reached the Leftherian Archipelago!

I wonder what that hot spring scene with Nia was about...I hope we get answers about that

Ran into Zeke and fought him again! Glad that wasn't just a one-off appearance and hopefully it means we'll be seeing more of him

Just as I was getting tired of Tora he gets a new blade so that's neat. I'm going to see if I can give the Poppibuster from the DLC to Tora and get him three blades, but I need to actually get the Poppibuster first

I also went to the the challenge place and got Shulk and Fiora as blades. I just left after that though

I got a little stuck on the two people at the end of the factory but I got through them third try

Got some flashbacks from 500 years back. I'm not sure how Jin can live 500 years though unless humans in this universe have very long lifespans. He also looks exactly the same so that's strange. Maybe he's cursed or something

So Malos does have a driver! That answers one question.

Don't blades keep the same name when rebonded? Why was she Haze before but Fan now?

Bruh I'm on chapter eight now and the last time I've updated on my progress was chapter five

I was completely wrong about Jin lol he's not a human at all but a Blade! and so it appears the rest of Torna are all blades too, or at least some kind of blade. Why do I keep making such bad theories lol

So Nia is a blade too! But how does she have Dromarch?? Is this ever going to be explained??
I know the game really wants me to use her as a blade but I kinda want a dedicated healer thank you

So Zeke joined the party! I was pretty excited but I wasn't expecting him to stick around for long, looks like I was wrong. I immediately replaced Rex with Zeke as my main attacker. I'm still exclusively playing Tora though.

We got the new Aegis, the green one! Any element huh, that's pretty useful. Plus, Rex has some cool new armour

I kinda rushed through chapter seven because I wanted to do the side quests, but Pyra was a prerequisite for many of them and of course Pyra got stolen
