"Gently," Martin repeats with a nod. He lowered his arm to the ground and waited.
Offline
After like 10 minutes, the cricket cautiously gets out of the sleeve fold and tries to peer out the sleeve.
Offline
If the boy was hungry before then he probably forgot about that, being so focused on the cricket's movements.
"Yeah, like that! Want apple?"
Offline
The cricket quickly gets out and peers at the surroundings.
"'Don't know,'" Kiaane says with a slight slope of their left shoulder.
Offline
Martin shoves a bit of apple at the cricket and promptly loses interest to focus on eating his own food.
Offline
The narrator's actually not too sure how crickets eat, but this cricket sure do be peering at the apple piece more than it's eating it.
Offline
Martin's more concerned with trying to fit pieces of the sandwich in his mouth.
He doesn't really know "table" manners, hmm.
Offline
Kiaane, who took a cup of water, drinks it all in one go. But in comparison, they really do seem to know more table manners.
Funnily enough, even the cricket looks like it has better table etiquette than Martin. R.I.P.
Offline
Most of the time Martin eats without anyone watching him so it's not really like he knows or anything.
Compliments to the cricket btw.
Martin's trying to combine the apple into the sandwich to see how it tastes.
Offline
Well, the narrator wouldn't know. Uhhhh, hopefully. They did once eat meat with apples, though...
Offline
Well, whatever the result was, the thing is that Martin is enjoying the food.
Offline
Yayy.
At some point, the cricket does eat the apples. Carefully, of course.
Offline
"You do like apple!" Martin exclaims, his voice kind of muffled by food.
Offline
The cricket looks up abruptly as soon as the exclamation is made.
Offline
Martin offers a grin and continues eating.
How much food is left?
Offline
...the other narrator thinks this narrator knows?
I guess maybe half, since Kiaan cut the loaves pretty big, and so the sandwiches are hard to stuff down???
Offline
Well, whatever the case, Martin keeps eating. Is Kiaane going to watch him?
Offline
Kiaan's kinda looking blankly off in different directions, but occasionally their gaze does go back to Martin.
The cricket has finished the apple piece, obviously, since it was a relatively small chunk of fruit.
Offline
Martin gifts the cricket another piece of apple. There aren't many left.
Offline
The cricket wraps its front legs around the apple piece.
Offline
"Mhm, it's yours!"
Offline
It knows. That's why it's doing that.
Offline
((That just seems really cute to me uwu))
Martin, as if imitating, tightens his grip with both hands on what's left of his sandwich.
Offline
Kiaan comes to crouch next to the cricket but does nothing else further.
Offline
"It's really good, Kiaane!" He means the food.
Martin grins at the mage and once again bites into his sandwich, which is almost gone.
Offline
Kiaan probably wants to ask again for reaffirmation or something, but due to their efficiency-over-emotions nature, they seem to neglect that opportunity. Instead they just ask, "Is it enough?"
Offline
He nods energetically while taking the last bite and brushing his mouth with his sleeve. "I'm full!"
Offline
At that, Kiaane takes the other (smaller) sandwich out and stuffs it through the air vaguely in the cricket's direction.
Slowly, the cricket looks up at the sandwich. Then, within 3 seconds, it suddenly scuttles over to a spot under the counter, apple piece and all.
Offline
"I think it only likes apples."
Martin draws up his legs and stares at the cricket.
Offline
The cricket peers back at him, still clutching the apple piece.
Kiaane seems to be pondering whether Martin's assumption is right or not.
