Echo started to panic.
"W-wait, Miss Germaine, don't you need it?! You'll get cold if I take it!"
Offline
"If I needed it, I wouldn't be giving it to you, wouldn't I?"
That has logic, but being Germaine... she probably would do it anyways.
Offline
"...Are you sure?"
Offline
"I am," she assured the goddess with a smile. Germaine held her shawl out again. "Come."
Offline
Echo hesitated, then slowly took the shawl to put on.
"Where we goin'?"
Offline
Germaine took a moment to think. Her house was still too far away, and she didn't want to expose anyone else to the cold rain.
"Somewhere drier. A little town nearby, in which we can wait the storm out." She finished with a smile.
Offline
Echo seemed a bit uneasy at that but nodded.
Offline
Germaine felt Echo's uneasiness. "If you're not fine with that, we can always find some other place."
Offline
"N-no, it's fine," Echo said, smiling.
Offline
"You know, if you don't feel comfortable, just tell me."
Offline
"No, it's fine," Echo echoed herself. "We should probably hurry to get out of the rain."
Offline
"Of course, Come," she said, and beckoned for Echo to follow her back to the faint path Germaine was taking before.
Offline
Echo quickly followed behind.
Offline
The rain was still coming down, but Germaine took to going under the trees since they stopped the pouring water at least a little bit.
Offline
Echo looked up to the sky, thinking and thinking.
Offline
Perhaps normally Germaine would have tried to start a conversation, but she couldn't shake off the strange feeling of being with Echo even if she was ignoring it.
The situation felt surreal.
Offline
Echo, to fill in the quiet because she was uncomfortable from it, asked, "Miss Germaine, how is your day?"
Offline
"It was- pretty nice," Germaine replied, snapping back to attention quickly. "Not even the rain can dampen my spirits."
Offline
"Rain is nice," Echo said. "It makes everything look pretty."
Offline
"It's also good for plant growth."
Offline
"Yea."
Offline
"This might seem like a strange question," Germaine said, "but, where were you before? I didn't see you."
Offline
"What do you mean?"
Offline
"Before you fell from the tree..." She paused. "Were you in the tree all along? All alone?"
Offline
"Yea," Echo nodded. "I wanted to follow you to keep you safe!"
Offline
"Yes... well..." Germaine paused her talk for a moment, feeling something in her throat. "I think it was a noble gesture."

"Noble?" Echo shrugged. "Thanks?"
She was trying to figure out what noble meant.
Offline
She nodded back, deciding not to speak for the moment.
Offline
Echo went quiet as well. There was still a thought bugging her.
How am I suppose to bring up that I lost all my memories?
Really, she didn't have to... but she did have to. Eventually Germaine would figure it out, right? It felt like... lying if Echo didn't say anything about it. But it would be so awkward... and what if Germaine started crying again?
Offline
Germaine continued her pace in silence, glancing at Echo again.
There were some thoughts conflicting in her mind. She pushed them away. Now wasn't the time to question reality.
