He seemed thoughtful.
"It was while I was still at my sister's. Think she wanted to see for how long I could hold out against double opponents."
Offline
Nagesh laughs. "So, how long did you hold out, then? As long as you hoped, I hope?"
Offline
"I'd say I did pretty well. My sister was pleased, at least." He grinned.
Offline
"That's good. But in a real battlefield, I'd say there are usually many more people on the offensive. However, that's relatively...well, that requires training," Nagesh says with a laugh, "which you know already, so I didn't need to repeat that."
Offline
"Of course. I wouldn't want to disappoint anyone if it comes to that," he commented, emphasizing his words with a nod and a lighter smile.
Offline
"Well, I--" Nagesh stops. He laughs with a small shrug. "I'm talking too much. I'm sorry. I think without me saying anything, you already know what to do. No use for me to repeat what you already know."
Offline
"True. But I don't mind hearing the same thing over and over, really," he said.
Offline
"Then, maybe a parrot would be a suitable companion," Nagesh jokes. He obviously likes joking.
Offline
"That would be adorable to some extent, I think," Allen laughed back.
Offline
"Well, I suppose that is something to keep in mind for the future, then," Nagesh says with a grin. "For now, I substitute the parrot."
Offline
((Okay so THAT made me laugh too hard XD))
"Oh--" Allen said the word between a short burst of laughter. He took his hand to his mouth as a reflex to stop himself, but a merry grin remained.
Offline
Nagesh laughs softly and briefly but heartily as well.
"What would you name it?" he asks, his smile in his eyes.
Offline
"That's something I haven't though about. Probably wouldn't name it Polly."
Offline
"Polly seems like a nice name."
From where Nagesh came from, there really was not the cliche of parrots being named Polly, so his opinion is technically founded on little knowledge.
Offline
"Oh, it is. It's simply a far too common name for parrots, at least from my experience. I'd like something more unique."
Offline
"Oh, it's common?" Nagesh is duly surprised. "I see."
Offline
"Well, maybe not everywhere," Allen considered.
Offline
Nagesh nods thoughtfully.
Offline
"And what about you? What would you name a parrot, if you had one?"
Offline
"I'm not sure." Nagesh ponders that, nearly pausing in his gait to think. "Perhaps some name that would be seen as fitting for myself by others." He looks up at the sky briefly, as if looking for birds. "Kiaan, perhaps."
Bruh. xD
Offline
((Oh my XD))
"Kiaan," Allen echoed. "That's an interesting name."
Offline
"It is," Nagesh agrees. "I'm not quite sure why others think I fit that name, however."
You're right. Your parrot wouldn't fit it either, because the narrator's currently stuck with the impression of this absurdly colored parrot that likes coffee and says nothing.
Offline
"And who may these 'others' be that you mention?" He asked. "If you're fine with answering, of course."
Offline
"Oh, not at all. They were some of my other friends," Nagesh answers. "Apparently, 'Kiaan' as a name fit me more to the point they called me that instead of 'Nagesh' most of the time."
Offline
"How curious. I hadn't heard of a similar thing before. Of course, nicknames exist, but I wasn't aware that people could 'rename' their friends like that."
Offline
"Well, 'what's in a name?', I suppose," Nagesh answers. He apologizes quickly once he realizes he's stopped moving and restarts his gait. "Do you have nicknames or perhaps some name that resonates with you other than 'Allen'? Or perhaps the name 'Allen' suits you well enough for you?"
Offline
"It's not something I pay much attention to, really," he said with a movement of his eyes that showed he was thoughful. "I have not really been nicknamed much at all. As for other names, sometimes I think perhaps another one would have suited me better. I'm fine with my current one; after all, it is 'plain and sensible'." Allen smiled at the end. The way he said that last part was as if he quoted somebody.
Offline
"I guess both of our names are hard to come up with nicknames. For you, it'd merely be a shortening to 'Al' or 'All', perhaps?"
Offline
Allen laughed briefly and took a hand to fix his bangs again.
"Could be, could be. I've always thought that sounds strange. Not that I'm opposed to being called by those nicknames." He half-grinned for a second before returning to a more neutral expression. "If it's about nicknames, then 'Ally' is the one I'm used to the most."
Offline
"Ah, Ally," Nagesh echoes. By some token of a thought, he entertains the notion of adding "y" to his name and nearly laughs. He has no such restrictions on a wide grin, though.
Nageshy. Shy. Slushy.
