He focused on the birds.
When was the last time he'd even gone for a flight?
Offline
The birds fly around for a bit and then disappear after having filled themselves, or maybe being discontent with the lack of bugs in the sky.
"Is there something particular about the avians?" Nagesh asks quietly.
Offline
"I like birds. I suppose they remind me of myself," Allen replied in a pensive tone without much hesitation.
Offline
"Is it because they also have wings?"
The surprising quality of the statement depends on whether or not Allen has his wings out. If he does, maybe it's just the immediate connection that's surprising. If not, then it's just more surprising, I guess.
Offline
"Perhaps," he said. Then Allen's walk paused as he checked if his wings were on his back. He didn't recall having ever showed them in front of Nagesh, but they weren't a secret.
"Say," he started again with an amused smile, "I'm curious to know when you've seen me with wings."
Offline
"I haven't," Nagesh answers in a straightforward way.
Offline
"Then how...?" He looked at Nagesh with curiosity.
Offline
"I acquired information about every inhabitant in Rune's domain," Nagesh informs with an automatic sort of honesty. "In case of emergency situations, some may need more aid than others."
Offline
"I see." Allen nodded at Nagesh's words. "It's a smart thing to do."
Offline
"It's logical, in a sense," Nagesh agrees, "but as a guard of the domain, I should be able to protect all, not just some."
Offline
He smiled. "That sounds like quite the responsibility. Yet, if they chose you for the job, I'm sure you qualify perfectly for it."
Being nice huh.
Offline
Nagesh smiles lightly. "I would hope so, but then again, my demonstration during the interview involved dice. I have an inkling Rune was just being very nice."
Offline
"Rune is known for being nice. I'm sure she knew enough about you in order to trust, though. She is a goddess, so I suppose she has her ways of gauging power."
Offline
"I know," Nagesh says to the first part, "which I suppose is also why my source thought she may be an easy target, even with her powers. Though, she doesn't seem too known compared to some of the other deities, no? Sometimes lack of fame is a good thing. It helps keep away unwanted attention."
Offline
Allen hummed in agreement and bobbed his head slightly. "I have to agree with that."
Offline
"I'm glad to hear it."
Offline
"It's nice to see that you genuinely care about the domain and its inhabitants."
Offline
"Wouldn't be much of a guard if I didn't. No intrinsic motivation," Nagesh says with a slight wave of his hand.
Offline
"That doesn't make it any less 'nice'," Allen commented. After a slight pause, he added, "I wish I could contribute more to the domain's protection as well instead of just being one more inhabitant."
Offline
"Well, I think that your presence itself shields it to some extent, but have you considered training?" Nagesh asks.
Offline
"I exercise daily, but not enough that it can be considered training."
Offline
"Well, you have a good prerequisite, then, I'd say," Nagesh informs cheerfully. "Training is more progressive if you're already in good physical condition."
Offline
"The question here is what I can train," Allen commented with a light lift of his shoulder.
Offline
"I would not know from just a glance," Nagesh remarks modestly. "Well then, which areas are you with more strength? Your arms? Your legs? In addition, which areas are you with less? For instance, you would try to defend your wings, correct? Or perhaps you could work on your shapeshifting abilities as well. The possibilities may not be limitless, but there are certainly many of them."
Offline
"I haven't been using my shapeshifting much lately, even if it comes rather naturally," he considered out loud, "and while it can work to bypass training temporarily, it's not something I'd want to rely much on."
Offline
"It would be more efficient to train your natural form so that your strength, speed, stamina, and such traits carry to your other forms, but shapeshifting is definitely a fairly unique and beneficial trait," he says, explaining his view. "Even if you do not use it frequently, it would be a good trump card at the least."
Offline
Allen brushed his bangs to the side again with his hand.
"Yes, of course. I'll keep the idea in mind. After all, I do want to be able to contribute as much as I can to defense." He looked up at the sky. "It's just been so long since I've done any 'training' that isn't just exercise."
Offline
"Oh?" Nagesh gives the other a curious look. "May I ask when was the last time, then?"
Offline
"Before I came to Rune's. I don't really recall it very well."
Offline
"Ah, then...would you have more solid impressions for experiences before that one?"
