Martin would love to see the book more but that's up to Kiaane.
Offline
Well, he gotta tell them that. Kiaane rarely brings books out; it's actually because they recognized Martin had an interest in it that they're even considering bringing it out in the first place.
Offline
"Are you going to take the book?"
Offline
Kiaan gives a hapless indication of they-don't-know.
Offline
"I think it would be interesting," Martin voiced his opinion. "But it's your book."
Offline
Kiaan vaguely stuffs the book in Martin's direction. Delicately and carefully, of course.
Offline
((In Martin's what? o.o))
Offline
(Thanks phone autocorrect)
Offline
Martin took the book, but didn't pull it towards himself. He just kind of grabbed it.
Offline
Kiaan apparently thinks that's just about enough, because they let go and then apparently face towards the exit.
The cricket chirps again. Man, it likes chirping.
Offline
Martin nearly dropped the book, though he was able to get a good grip on it.
He's happy that the cricket is chirping.
Offline
Kiaan's gaze seems a lot more unforgiving in the instant that Martin struggles with keeping the book where it should be--as in, not dropping down to the ground or being on the ground--but maybe that's just an impression or illusion, since they sometimes look like they're looking for a fight when they're not.
Offline
Martin shrank back slightly when he noticed Kiaane's expression and hurried to hold the book tight to his body so he wouldn't drpo it.
Offline
Don't worry, all's good and fine and...forgiven? Maybe that's the case, maybe not.
The cricket chirps.
"I know," Kiaane speaks simply, not translating the cricket this time, possibly because it was addressing them.
Offline
R.i.p. Martin's chill attitiude, because he now looks slightly tense.
Offline
Hahaha.
After taking a few steps, Kiaane beckons with one hand to Martin.
Offline
Martin skittered towards Kiaane.
Offline
The cricket chirps. Wow, dialogue diversity, I know. It makes a scratchy noise right after and snuggles up more in the sleeve.
Kiaane doesn't respond this time, instead, they hold a hand out, making a quick motion with their hand. Instantly, the lights they lit earlier are blown out, as if the flames weren't really there in the first place--and the bibliotheca is left in darkness.
Offline
He admired the turning off of lights. Then he checked on the cricket again.
Offline
The cricket's comfortable. It attempts to stare back at him.
The sounds Kiaane's clothing ruffling with movement are paired with an increasing halo of light to the frontal left of Martin. Presumably Kiaan is moving and casting a spell for the way out.
Offline
Martin made sure to stay close to the mage just in case. He held his sleeve protectively too, for the cricket.
Offline
Kiaan picks up Martin soon after, not seeming to be concerned about the cricket, and a moment later they're back in the base for the Thaohal Mage Guild.
Offline
"Are we going for lunch?" was the first thing Martin asked. I guess Kiaane let him down on the ground once they arrived.
Offline
Nope. They're still carrying him, probably because they forgot to put him down. They're absentminded in that way.
"Yes," they answer, starting off in a vaguely incorrect direction--as in the kitchen is kind of in that direction but also kind of not.
Offline
Martin isn't one to complain much, so he just let himself be carried. He also didn't move.
Offline
Martin's kind of just being swung around. Hopefully he's not too uncomfortable.
Kiaane walks all the way to the general location where the kitchen is, which is a good start, but then they start for the way that will take a much longer time and has a huge roundabout.
Offline
((I'm here imagining Martin like a cat being carried by Kiaane XD))
He thinks it's fun. I mean, he's never really been carried around before, so he finds it an interesting experience.
"Isn't the kitchen that way ?" He asked.
Offline
(That is exactly why I made Kiaan carry him lol)
"Which [way]?" Kiaane asks. The [way] is obviously there to make it clearer what they're saying. They just asked "which?" in "real life".
Offline
((Let me find what Martin would look like as a cat lol))
Martin lifted a hand (or tried to) and pointed.
Offline
Kiaane pauses and regards the direction. The pause turns into a long while.
The cricket is literally cricketing.
