"That's me," Dion stated. He glanced back to compare the background.
Offline
Francis nodded rapidly, "Yep! It's you!"
The background is accurate.
Offline
"That looks... great. Like a picture, almost!"
Offline
"Ah, thank you!" Francis beamed. "It'll probably take a few more minutes to dry, I think. About two or three, and then I can give it to you."
Offline
"You'll give it to me? Just like that?" Dion tilted his head, surprised. "No payment or anything?"
Offline
"Why do you seem surprised?" Francis asked. "Taking time out of your day and talking to you is payment enough, I think!"
Francis nodded, "Yeah, plus I said I would give it to you, didn't I? I don't go back on my word, no siree! Once I say I'm gonna do something, I do it."
Francis gave a thumbs up.
"So no money is due."
Offline
"That's... that's great," he said, still kind of amazed that he was getting a painting for free. "Thanks?"
Offline
"Welcome!" Francis nodded his shortened version of 'you're welcome'.
Offline
"So you just paint and give those things away for free?"
Offline
"Depends," Francis said. "I do commissions and sell some for money, but sometimes I just paint and give them away."
Francis shrugged.
"Guess it just depends."
Offline
"Huh." The idea of giving away something that took work was interesting to him. "Strange, but okay."
Offline
Francis smiled.
"Strangeness is a gift, I think, because being completely the same as other artists would be rather boring. Plus, people's faces when I give them paintings are..."
Francis thought for a moment.
"...Wonderfully beautiful. The way they look so excited and happy is completely beautiful, I think."
Francis nodded, confirming his own thoughts.
Offline
Dion's face is a weird o.o at the moment, haha.
"You think smiling faces are beautiful? I mean, not that they aren't, but... you know."
Offline
"I think the positive emotions portrayed on faces are beautiful," Francis clarified, now starting to blush as he realized that he somewhat monologued, which must have been really awkward for Dion to hear.
"And sometimes heart-filled mixed emotions can be beautiful, depending on the context," Francis continued. "Like... ah, never mind!"
Francis shook his head, realizing he was about to monologue again. He laughed and fixed his hair. Oh geez, he needed to stop talking before he freaked Dion out, Francis realized.
Offline
Oh, Dion's listening alright. He's just got his usual 'huh?' face on.
"No, it's very interesting. I haven't met artists before. The way you talk is interesting."
Offline
"Oh? Thank you! I usually accidentally scare people off 'cause I talk too much," Francis laughed. It seemed like a half joke, half truth.
"Talking is great, though, because you can share so many cool things and experiences to others, I think!"
Offline
"Yeah, uh, I guess. I think I can also see why you would scare people off. Yeah."
((Sorry Francis oops))
Offline
(XD poor Francey)
Francis nodded, "Yeah! It's kinda obvious but I'm oblivious to when I talk most the time! It's so strange, honestly!"
Francis laughed at the end, his way of trying to make things less awkward and more light.
Offline
Dion twirled a strand of his hair. "As long as it's interesting maybe they won't mind." He shrugged.
Offline
"Maybe," Francis agreed. He realized that Dion said his talking was interesting just a bit ago and suddenly got very happy and excited.
"Wait, you don't mind my talking?"
His purple eyes lit up with absolute childish giddiness and hope.
Offline
He blushed a little bit. "It's... interesting. Like, it's, well, not bad? Just new to me."
Offline
That is honestly enough for Francis to lightly excitedly clap like a lil weirdo. He looked extremely happy at those words. It was not bad!
"Ah, thank you! I understand what you mean, I think."
Francis nodded again, confirming to himself.
Offline
"That's good." His attention was drawn by the claps for a moment. "I don't like it when people can't understand me."
Offline
Francis nodded again.
"Same, although it happens for me a lot, which makes sense, of course. How often does it happen to you?"
Offline
Another shrug. "I don't know."
Offline
"That's okay, I dunno a lot of things," Francis smiled, because he's a very smiley boi.
Offline
"Yeah. But you know about painting."
Offline
"Oh, that's just one thing! Anyone can learn painting if they wanted to and worked at it long enough. But I'm excited to learn the things I don't know about yet! Eventually I'll learn stuff, I think. Yea, I'll learn everything if I work hard enough. What do you know about?"
Offline
"Me?" Dion took a finger to his cheek. "I know a lot of things--I finished school already after all."
Offline
"Oh really? Me too!" Francis said. "How long ago did you graduate?"
