...and she's watching people just fill up their cars' tanks and then drive away, sometimes with a self car-wash, sometimes with some snacks and a root beer.

Helen typically wasn't out in the city, but today was an exception. She thought she remembered her way back to the store, and, well, they were out of napkins. When she noticed a girl on the park washing cars, she paused to watch.

The girl wasn't washing cars, but she was watching people wash them. She's kicking one leg to and fro in her sitting position, but otherwise she isn't doing anything else, or at least she's not doing much else.

{I read watching as washing XD}
Helen realized she suddenly felt much more curious than she ever had before. Slowly, she began walking towards the other girl, keeping a wary eye on her.

("She's washing people just fill up their cars' tanks"??? ...that'd be washing the people, Rune)
She hasn't been directly acknowledged yet, but the girl seems to notice her.

{Yeah... XDD}
Helen took a seat on the far side of the bench. She was so far off to one side, in fact, that she was only half on it.

"Hi!" the other pipes. From just her voice she sounds younger than Helen by a handful of years.

Helen practically jumped when she heard the other speak. "Oh, hi!" she chirped back, offering a wave in greeting.

She scoots over slightly. "You can move over more," she says. "I don't mind."

Hesitantly, Helen scooted over a bit. "I'm Helen," she introduced. "What's your name?"

"My family name is Manai," Manai introduces freely. "Your name has to do with light, right?"

Helen blinked as she tried to figure her question out. "Umm... I dunno. I don't think so."

"Oh! My bad. Sorry." She grins.

"It's ok." Helen shrugged a little. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm watching people come and go!" she responds.

{Oop sorry}
Helen furrowed her brow. "Why?"

"It's fun just watching people going about in their lives," she responds cheerfully. "What about you?"

She shrugged. "I don't know, I usually don't watch people."

"Would you like to then? For a while?" she asks cheerfully.

With a slight nod, Helen scooted over a bit. "Ok, sure!"

The narrator doesn't know if Helen finds it interesting, but just as she scoots over, a man accidentally splashes himself standing too close to the car-washing hose.

Helen noticed the man and began laughing. "He just go all wet!"

Manai finds it funny too, but she also has that feeling that prohibits her from laughing. "Uhm, are you okay?" she asks the man with a shout, who starts slightly at her voice but gives a thumbs-up. Though, he does have to take off his jacket and try to wring out a sleeve.

{Akdjs sorry}
Helen watched with surprise that the girl was so easily able to talk to the stranger. She looked at her, her eyes going wide.

"I'd probably do something like that too," Manai says to Helen after giving the man a thumbs-up back.

"Do something like what too?" she repeated, looking back over at Mansi.

"Accidentally wash myself when I'm trying to wash a car, I mean," she specifies easily, sitting back in a more relaxed fashion. "Or just splash myself while I'm trying to wash anything else in general."
