"No." They pause. "You are?"
Offline

"Not really, I'm just here. What kind of books are in this place though?"
Offline

"Nonfiction," they say.
Yes, very helpful, very, thank you, Kiaane.
Offline

"About magic?" Martin reached up for a random book.
Offline

"Yes."
Kiaane doesn't seem to mind him picking up the book. Yay for him.
Offline

Martin took the book with him and opened it.
Offline

Lots of glyphs and symbols spring out, almost as if the page is projecting them.
Offline

Martin jerked back in surprise and closed the book. He looked at it with wonder.
Offline

Other than their initial appearance, they don't change much. In any case, it's unlikely Martin can read it.
Offline

Of course he can't. Anyways, Martin poked experimentally the air around one of the symbols.
Offline

He pokes through them, though they do get somewhat blocked by the symbols.
Kiaane does peer at the cover for a moment before returning their attention to what they're reading.
Offline

Now he blew at them. He's finding the symbols very interesting.
Offline

The symbols are not bubbles, and do not move.
Offline

Aww.
Martin went over to see what Kiaane was reading.
Offline

They're reading non-poppable glyphs of their own.
Offline

"Is there something in normal language here that I can read?"
Offline

Kiaane doesn't understand that. To them, the glyphs are basically normal language. So they're just basically emanating a silent 'what?'. It's hard to tell what they're thinking, but hopefully Martin doesn't presume he's being ignored.
Offline

"I can only read English..." he whispered.
Offline

"A newborn starts off reading none," comes the response.
Offline

Martin rubbed his hair. "But I'm not a newborn."
Offline

"You were."
Offline

"I'm no longer one."
Offline

Martin's missing their point, and while there's no correlation between that, it just means he's not going to understand and they, being Kiaan, are not going to specify.
Offline

"Where is this place anyway?"
Offline

"The bibliotheca," comes the supremely helpful answer they've given, what, three times now?
Offline

Martin didn't know how to be angry or annoyed at receiving a vague answer, since it was an answer after all. But he wasn't quite pleased with it. He pulled out another book, hoping it would be in English.
Offline

It's not. But it doesn't have pop-out glyphs. They seem to be in yet another sort of code, or even a language if you will.
Offline

He peered at the pages, squinting. Then he turned it upside down as if by doing so the words would become readable.

That won't work, Martin.
Offline

Too bad.
"Hey," he asked Kiaane, "Can you translate the title for me?" Martin held up the book to the other.
