"At least you never have quite a boring day and get to stay on your toes."
Offline
"Eh, I'd say it's been quite boring around here ever since her return as a deity. Edona...well in case you haven't noticed, Edona might as well be a ghost town, ghost kingdom?, with how little people are left. Elli doesn't go out often now, so there's not much action. Even when she is out, she's always a bit paranoid about every person we meet. I kind of like it though, it's calm and peaceful... safe."
Offline
"It's safe, sure, but are your people happy?" Apollo wondered. "Even if you don't like them or trust them, aren't your civilians the ones you must protect and lead?"
Offline
Frances sighed "In theory yes but...let's say her values of queenship is twisted. Power tends to do terrible things to people and Elli is no exception. She's, I suppose, what you'd call an absolute monarchy."
Offline
"Huh, I guess so. Hmm... It's interesting, though, ya know, to be able to protect and help so many people."
Offline
"Elli never quite cared about other people. She didn't get the crown to help her subjects, she just got the crown because she didn't know what else to do. She says she likes this life but... she's not happy and that frustrates me."
Offline
"Oh..."
Apollo didn't have much of an expression now, his face going blank. He sort of stared at Frances for a bit before walking over to the balcony, looking out to the view.
Offline
Frances sighed, "That's why I'm glad your here. It gets a little lonely in a palace this big so it's nice to see a new face from time to time. And those daydreams... she hasn't been that excited since, well, since she was fifteen I believe."
Offline
"Hmm... you know, it's almost sad that she wants me here just to use me," Apollo said. He looked back and smiled at Frances. Apollo obviously was very aware of what was going on.
"But I don't mind it too much. I find her excitement for daydreaming amusing, and I haven't been able to really use my magic that much lately. As well, I get to stay here in a beautiful palace for a while. I think it's somewhat a bonus."
Apollo yawned.
"Hmm... How long it'll be 'til she gets bored of daydreaming... What do you think?"
Offline
"I'd say...never. If her love for daydreaming is the same as her love for novels then it's never going to end until she finds a replacement to satisfy that itch for adventure. Be careful though, she can be quite uh...abrasive once she finds something she doesn't want to let go, that's why I'd prefer it if you didn't fuel her obsession any more than needed..."
Offline
"Huh, interesting..."
Apollo looked back out to the view and then up at the sky. He suddenly changed the topic.
"What is your favorite gemstone?"
Offline
He paused, mulling the question over in his head. "Emeralds, they're very pretty I think. What about you? What's your favorite?"
Offline
"Tanzanite, they're the colour of my eyes and very beautiful."
Offline
"I see.." Frances's voice trailed off, not sure what else to say.
Offline
After a long moment of silence, Apollo grinned, "Ever flown before? Ya know, in the sky?"
Offline
"No." He replied blankly, eyeing Apollo's wings. "You're not thinking of..."
Offline
Without warning, Apollo was suddenly behind Frances. He lifted Frances into his arms carefully but quick and strong enough that Frances wouldn't escape.
"Your days of unknowing has come to an end!" Apollo announced, his grin growing. He was running towards the balcony.
Offline
Frances screamed, startled by how suddenly Apollo picked him up "WHAT THE-"
Offline
"Hold on tight, buddy!"
Apollo jumped off the balcony, Frances in his arms. For a few seconds, it seemed like they were falling, but swiftly Apollo's wings spread out and they both soared high into the air.
"Man the air feels good!"
Offline
Frances just had his eyes shut tightly as he tried not to move. He seems utterly terrified.
Offline
"C'mon, dude! Open your eyes and look at this view!" Apollo encouraged, laughing in joy as he felt wonderful to be so high up.
Offline
Frances slowly opened his eyes and was about to take in the view when- "FRANCES?!?"
Elaine had heard the scream and hurried to Apollo's room as fast as possible, she stood there on the balcony, trying to comprehend what she was seeing. "Hey you! Put him down!!"
Offline
"Sorry Princess, but he needs to have some fun!" Apollo yelled back, flying up higher and faster.
Offline
“I SAID TO PUT HIM DOWN!" Elaine yelled, trapping Apollo in a floating crystal dome. She looked mad, like actually angry which made the palace tremble slightly.
Offline
"Aww, so boring," Apollo complained, melting and shifting through the crystal. Frances shifted through the crystal as well along with Apollo. For Frances, his vision went white for a bit and his body felt like jelly. Suddenly his vision was back and he felt normal. It was a very weird experience.
Apollo flew back down to the balcony, setting Frances down carefully. Assuming there is a railing to the balcony, Apollo perched on it with a goofy, cocky grin.
"Someone's maaaaad~"
Offline
The crystal ball fell and shattered in the ground, Elli can clean that up later, right now Frances was far more important. Elaine almost immediately started fussing over Frances, asking if he was fine and if he got hurt or not. Frances just kept saying he's ok and for her to not worry.
"Of course I'm mad! Why don't you have your best friend lifted three stories off the ground and have his life basically in the hands of a God you barely even know?! Bet you'd be upset too you jerk!!" She yelled and the palace shook even harder.
Offline
Apollo tilted his head.
"Buuuut, he's not hurt!" Apollo pointed out. "And even if I did drop him, I would be able to swoop down and catch him as I'm much faster than a falling body."
That was oddly specific.
"Don't get your feathers all ruffled, Princess, everything's fine. I just wanted to show him the view from high above! It's so beautiful, much like me!"
Apollo then pouted, making himself look all sad and disappointed from being stopped, "It would have been totally fun..."
Offline
Elaine opened her mouth to probably yell something else at Apollo but Frances lightly tugged her sleeve and she stopped.
In a quiet voice, Frances said "I'm fine Elli, no need to-"
"You could've gotten hurt you idiot, jesus christ, have you no sense of self preservation?!?" She lightly bonked him on the head. Then she turned her attention back to Apollo, "and you! Out!" She demanded.
"Elli!" Frances' eyes were wide, not expecting her to go this far. Elaine ignored him, she looked absolutely furious.
Offline
Apollo's face went blank, then he raised an eyebrow. Then a small noise came from his throat before he burst out laughing. Apollo's head tilted back and he brought a hand up to his mouth, trying to stop himself, but it only made him laugh harder.
"Man, you're a real good yeller! I almost felt scared!" Apollo choked out through his uncontrollable laughter. "It's cute! I haven't been yelled at like this for years! It brings back the good 'ol memories!"
Apollo continued laughing, seeming undisturbed by Elaine's anger.
Offline
Elaine is practically shaking with anger now.
"Elli.." Frances mumbled, tugging her sleeve again in an attempt to calm her down "deep breaths Elli, you're shaking this entire palace.."
She realized he was right, at this point she's gonna break something and have to redecorate again! Though she probably already broke something. She counted down in her head in order to calm herself and eventually the palace stopped shaking but Elaine is still glaring at Apollo.
(Elaine: *does anything*
every deity in existence: LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)
