Outside
On the outside, it is a small library building with small garden beds out front. The flowers are white roses and seem to be well-taken care of. The place has large windows to see inside, which holds many books and sections. The architecture is reminiscent of Greek and Roman architectures. Nearby is an ocean to look at!
Nearby there is a construction on a building... but it seems it won't be finished for a while.
Inside
It is lightly decorated with white and gold, a dark-wood desk being towards the front with a pretty lady standing at it. Currently, she is filing through some paperwork, humming softly. It seems no one is in the library but her today?
There's some nice furnished areas for people to sit at and read.
The Library is open 24/7, feel free to randomly RP

Narration For Today
Arete hums as she sweeps the floor, calm as she smacks Echo in the side with the bristles.
"Didn't I say for you to stop sleeping on the ground? You're going to trip someone over."
Echo grumbles and turns onto his side, mumbling, "Five more minutes..."
Arete rolls her eyes and continues to sweep.

"Have you ever been to the Library of Selena?"
"I can't say I have."
Idle chatter. Two young men walk side by side on a route familiar to them. At least, it's familiar to Iollan--it's the path to the place that he's been talking about for days now, a place that he is also familiar with.
"It's the branch library in...Tranquility?" the other young man asks an obvious question, at least to him, with an obvious answer.
Iollan smiles. "You're good at guessing, Hitan. Or are you just fond of geography?"
"The name makes it rather obvious. I wouldn't be surprised if most buildings in that city were named after the same class of words." As if mimicking a nod, the angel raises his head.
...it seems their surroundings have changed. He certainly doesn't recall seeing this sort of architecture a few moments ago. No, the sky wasn't supposed to have faded away this quickly, was it?
"Iollan," he says, reaching out to the other as he would toward a child, or perhaps as if a child reaching out toward someone else. But they are already in the building, and his companion is a few steps ahead of him.
Anyway, all that is to say that Iollan just watched a lady smack a dude lying down on the floor with a broom, and the inhabitants inside the library just saw two people manifest out of literal nowhere. How fun.

Arete, noting the two men, offers a placid smile, pausing her sweeping.
"Oh, perdon, I hadn't notice you two enter or I would have offered a greeting. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask."
Her voice is sweet, contradicting her action before.
Echo, on the other hand, jolts awake, his hair a mess and clearly still half-asleep.
"Do we have visitors? I will make some tea."
He proceeds to lay back down and immediately fall back asleep.

Iollan just stands there for a moment. Thinking. Processing. Flabbergasted. Or maybe not totally on the third point--he's always been good at handling surprises.
His gaze is first on Arete, and then it shifts to the guy on the floor when he speaks. And then it goes back up when said guy passes out.
"...may I ask where we are?" he asks.
Offline

"The Library of Halcyon," is the simple, plain response. She then adds, "Please do ignore him. He is prone to daytime sleepiness. Apologies if he is in the way if you do choose to look around."
Up close, the two men can see Arete's doll-like joints mixed with human flesh; a living doll of some sort. She's a bit tall, 5'11 or 6', and she stands in a rather graceful manner with a peaceful expression.
Offline

Hitan merely comments, "I can't imagine it's very comfortable to sleep here. Does the library perhaps have a resting area he could utilize?"
Iollan kind of just nods along for the time being.
Offline

Arete nods as she says, "Yes, there is. Unfortunately, he finds comfort in the floor rather than our various chairs." She looks away from the two to look at Echo, and there's a hint of irritation that crosses her expression for a moment.
Offline

"Oh, I meant a small room of sorts where he can lay on a carpet or napping pad of some sort," Hitan elaborates, wholly unperturbed. He's used to kids who like sleeping on the floor more than they like sleeping on actual soft things. He can't relate much, but he's not going to judge. "Perhaps one of the reading rooms, if you have one?"
"It'd be horrible if someone stepped on him," Iollan adds. "Like us, or one of us."
Offline

As the group within the library continues talking, a small, peculiarly clothed man approaches the entrance to the library and knocks on the doorframe.
"Hello? Are you open?" He calls out, stepping in slightly. "I had heard conversation and seen those young men walk in, so I presumed you were, but one should never judge a book by its cover, of course."
He stops for a moment and realizes what he just said, chuckling a bit at his own joke. "Library, book, cover. Ha!"
Offline

Arete thinks and gives a slight nod, saying, "Perhaps that would be a rather fine investment to make, mm-hm!" She seems to like the idea.
She isn't startled by the newcomer, and she smiles at the joke, giving a soft, pretty laugh.
"Yes, we are open. It's a 24/7 library."
With that, Echo suddenly stands up, energized. He looks around, confused by the sight of strangers, but nevertheless going on to say, "Art! Where is our schedule at?"
"Behind the desk, as always, sir."
"Perfect!" Echo grins widely as he shambles over to behind the desk, going through papers. It's unclear if he really has any idea of what he's doing, especially because he's beginning to fall asleep while standing.
Offline

"You did?" asks Hitan to the other newcomer, mostly because he's not really sure they walked in all that normally to begin with.
Iollan doesn't like to touch others without their permission, but he thinks a concussion would probably be worse. So, he tries to grab Echo's shoulder.
Offline

"Oh, splendid!" The small man smiles brightly. He looks over at Hitan.
"I arrived shortly after you did, if only to see you walk in." He starts browsing the shelves, still carrying on the conversation. "I'm not surprised you didn't notice me, that tends to happen quite often." He removes a few books from the shelves, tucking them under his arm.
Offline

Echo jolts, saying, "Oh! The tea!" He gives Iollan an appreciative glance before stepping back and walking out of the current area into the back of the library.
The books all vary in topics, and they all seem to be very well-organized and cared for. Even the older books have been well-tended to and preserved finely.
Echo returns with a stack of blank papers in his arms, rambling to Arete with, "Be sure we schedule down a meeting soon! I'm not sure what for yet, but meetings are good for the soul!"
Arete gives a nod.
"Of course, sir."
Offline

Hitan merely remarks to the apparently tiny man, "I am quite unobservant."
Looking at the books seems like not a half-bad idea to him at this point. Well, it's almost never a bad idea.
"I'm assuming you either intended to come here or are simply winging it?"
...at this point, that could be considered a pun of his own.
On his part, Iollan doesn't seem bothered by the guy darting to and back from places at a strangely fast pace. He just returns his hand and arm to his side, though his gaze does follow the way the deity goes. It's hard to tell how someone can look so cheerful but mildly concerned at the same time.

Echo set the papers down and writes something down on a calendar. Upon closer inspection, his writing is just a bunch of scribbles. He then begins to fold a piece of paper.
Arete begins to continue to sweep.
Echo, within seconds, has created a paper crane. He hands it to Iollan, saying, "Take good care of her."
Said paper crane is a bit wonky looking, having been made with shaky hands. It's so ugly that it's cute XD
Offline

Iollan really hopes that wasn't anything related to one of those schedules that was being talked about, but he usually accepts gifts graciously. This time doesn't seem to be an exception. He just takes it with a grin. "Okay, thanks!"
"Say," he immediately follows, "are you narcoleptic? Or are you just super tired today? Bit rude of me to ask, but I'm quite concerned that you'll fall over onto the shelf and bang your head."
Offline

Echo gives him a blank stare as he processes the question. And then he gives a goofy-looking grin.
"What's a narcoleptic? Oh! I'm tired all the time! The sheep are very convincing."
Arete speaks up, saying, "We believe it is possible he is narcoleptic, given his... tendencies to sleep."
Offline

"Oh-kay." The brunette takes a moment to process that, but it doesn't take too long.
"Then, would you like to sit down somewhere nearby? I reckon it'll be a lot safer than you falling over. Someone could catch you, but it'd be quite a bit more dangerous for you and for them whether that works or not." He handles the crane with both hands as he talks. "Maybe against a shelf...over there? It looks quite sturdy."
Offline

Echo processes the words for a moment before nodding happily.
"What a brilliant idea! You are promoted!"
He does not elaborate on that last part, but instead he walks over to a shelf, sits down leaning against it, and immediately passes out with a snore.
Arete seems a bit suprised that suggestion actually worked.
Offline

Iollan does a little fist pump in response, but the gesture is limited much more by the relief that follows when...that happens.
I'm so glad I said something.
And: I sure hope he remembers that next time.
Though with that, his attention is free to go back toward Arete, and sure enough, he's quick to speak up.
"Oh, and ma'am, about when we came in earlier..."
It's sort of hard to take someone seriously when he's cupping a paper crane in his hands.
Offline

Arete tilts her head just slightly, allowing Iollan to speak more. She holds back a chuckle as she sees the crane in his hands.

"I apologize if we startled you, but I do think there might have been a more productive way to relocate..." Iollan realizes he doesn't know any names, "...the gentleman over there compared to using the broom. Is anyone else working in this library as well?"

The small man laughs out loud at that one. "Winging it! Because of the-!" He allows himself a few more chuckles before he composes himself. His laugh is a friendly, happy one. "Yes, I suppose you could say that I am winging it. I'm not particularly one who plans things out."
He chooses a few more books, taking care to grab a nice variety. "I find that things tend to be much more enjoyable the less I know about them in advance. What about you, friend? Was this your intended destination or just a happy accident?"

"Unfortunately, as of current, it is only I and him who work here."
She realizes that she never introduced herself.
"Oh! My deepest apologies, I completely forgot to introduce myself. My name is Arete, but you may call me Art."
She gives a curtsy before standing straight again and gesturing towards Echo.
"That man is my boss, Echo. We run the library together."

The angel barely raises his brow. It's not often that an inside joke is taken literally. Plus in his view, the other is taking books like he's buying groceries.
A kindred spirit? Perhaps?
"I'm enjoying the detour, though I do believe I would have had an aneurysm without similar experiences in the past."
The response can be considered truthful, but it's mostly meant as another humorous jibe.
"That must be difficult," Iollan acnowledges. "I'm Iollan. I've volunteered at a few libraries before, but not enough to understand the flow of things...I don't want to get in the way of your work more than I already have, but if you could please be kinder to your boss, I would be very grateful. I hear narcolepsy is quite difficult to live with."
Supposedly, he can take the strange power dynamic in stride just fine, but he doesn't let go of topics quite so easily.
Slightly pausing, he adds, "And it's no issue. I wouldn't expect you to introduce yourself under these circumstances, to be honest. The past few moments have felt somewhat chaotic."

She seems a bit suprised, just slightly. It's evident in how her eyebrows twitch upwards. She blinks, and then gives a warm smile.
"Your advice is noted. Please do not worry about him."
She looks over to the sleeping Echo in thought.
"I've known him for quite some time. The sleepiness is more of a recent issue."
A soft sigh.
"Although, it means he will have a period of energy, and he will be much more aware. I do hope it will be soon."

Iollan nods. "I'm somewhat worried for you too, Arete. Are you two maybe becoming burned out? Is hiring more personnel within the library budget, perhaps?"
Offline

"Ah, um..."
She seems awkward now, playing with her hair a little as she looks away.
"Actually, I am unsure of what our budget is. Echo usually handles that, as well as he is picky on who he hires, which is why I am the only employee currently."
Offline

"Aw, dang." Iollan doesn't seem much bothered. "But it's no problem! I'll try to talk to him when he wakes up, then. I was going to bring up something else too anyways."
