(@Time & Specter) Kiaane is up to something.

They're not up to any bad, though. Just being Kiaane.
...well, actually, that's not really correct, either. Usually, they would be nowhere near the kitchen at this time of day--and it's early. Probably 6 or 7 in the morning. But here they are now.
Anyways, they're hanging up strings. Without context, this would seem extremely strange, and it probably is that way.
Do you wish to approach?

Re: (@Time & Specter) Kiaane is up to something.

(This is the castle right)

Ignas enters the kitchen. Instead of wearing pjs or anything, he's in his full uniform, even has a rifle over his shoulder.

He stops at the sight of strings, and sighs, "What are you doing?"

Re: (@Time & Specter) Kiaane is up to something.

(Was gonna wait, but then I realized it makes more sense for everyone to not appear at the same time. Lol rip too used to RP phenomenons)
(Btw sorry for not telling you about this in advance, and yeah it's in the castle, unless they've moved)

Kiaane turns around halfway once they hear Ignas' voice, revealing that not only do they have a lot more yarn, some of said strings they are "holding" by having it threaded behind their ears. It kinda looks like a weird, dangling beard. And no, this is not intentional. They're honestly a few steps away from being tangled in their own contraption.
Upon further inspection, there is actually a (quite small) ladder nearby. Looks homemade from the looks of it, and probably not store bought, seeing how it does not constitute anywhere near elegant. Anyways, it's propped up against the wall, a little lonely and without companionship at the moment.
For whatever reason, Kiaane chose to contain the strings in a bucket instead of some more conventional method, and now it's that bucket that they're holding in Ignas' direction, as if that explains anything. It kinda does, though. The answer is: They're putting up strings. Wow.
Contrary to Ignas, Kiaane is actually not wearing their usual sort of clothing. Other than an accessory wrapped around their neck and shoulders, very alike a scarf but probably too thin to be one, there's really no hint that they belong to a mercenary/mage guild. (Well, maybe there's one exception. There's something small bundled together that's either measuring tape or their urumi near their hip. It's actually surprisingly hard to tell.) In fact, their outfit actually looks surprisingly comfortable, or at least in more normal standards, with a long-sleeved shirt rolled up and pinned to lessen the sleeve lengths, nicely fitting legwear tucked into equally nice boots, and what seems to be a layer meant to keep the tuck in under the knee. It's not armor, which is perhaps surprising.
Oh, by the way, they're blocking the way to the kitchen.

Re: (@Time & Specter) Kiaane is up to something.

((Nah were bing chilling I don't mind some surprise improv stuff. In fact, I think at times it can be better that way instead of planning. More natural.)

Oh, well then Ignas is probably close by the entrance to the kitchen.

So, Ignas stares for a bit. Almost forgetting Kiaane's very specific answering method. So, he reframes his question, "What is your goal in hanging up all these strings?"

Re: (@Time & Specter) Kiaane is up to something.

"Doing so first." They raise their hands a little, as if to stress the strings, before adding: "Then, the bulbs."
Said "bulbs" are nowhere in sight, but that does clear things up, somewhat...not really.

Re: (@Time & Specter) Kiaane is up to something.

Ignas frowned. He was speculating on what exactly Kianne was doing as he did so. He had a few ideas.

"What bulbs? I do not see any."

Re: (@Time & Specter) Kiaane is up to something.

"Don't have any yet." They take some time to hang the bucket on their right arm, balancing it somewhat, as they try to use their left hand to demonstrate to Ignas. Of course, because they aren't exactly facing completely towards him yet, they're just making it harder for themselves.
A bit of (gray) flame sprouts out from their palm. Miraculously, they somehow don't burn themselves or any of the string on them in the process. This will probably be a one-time thing for the day. But it doesn't look like what they're looking for. They mutter, "Not it," and the flame shrinks back.
They stop for a while, seemingly thinking on what actually is "it."

"Soo... what are the bulbs?" Ignas asks another question for clarification, "What are you going to do with them?"

Re: (@Time & Specter) Kiaane is up to something.

"They have a kind of flame within them, as if a small torch," Kiaane describes in a way that is still vague but is also surprisingly poetic for someone like them. They still seem to be contemplating making an example instead of describing it, but they add, "They are surrounded by transparent or translucent material."
R.I.P. to the second question, which they definitely forgot to answer. Ignas needs to learn from his dad.

They shake their head slightly. At least they don't seem to be frustrated from their lack of ability to express things in one go. "Too big. It's not paper. That would burn..."

Re: (@Time & Specter) Kiaane is up to something.

"..." They can't really seem to muster up other words to adequately explain it. Having reached the same conclusion, they nod a little to themselves (making a bit of string fall off their shoulder) and turn to face him a bit more directly. Not to say that they're looking into his eyes, though. They are definitely not doing that. But they do lift their poise a little bit and say, "Kiaane can illustrate."
Uh, it's hard to tell, but they're asking for permission, basically.

Re: (@Time & Specter) Kiaane is up to something.

A small someone makes his way to the kitchen that morning, looking for something to take and eat on the way to somewhere else.
He wasn't expecting to find two people already there. Why Ignas? And what was Kiaane doing?

Martin steps closer without saying a word of greeting or even a good morning. He just watches with a questioning look, one not fully visible as his hood is up and shadowing his face.
Still, it's quite noticeable Martin is there just standing with his hands in his pockets.

Ignas notices Martin but overall ignores his arrival.

"Well, go ahead." Ignas says.

Re: (@Time & Specter) Kiaane is up to something.

Unfortunately for Martin, Kiaane is so focused on finding the third something within the last minute (a record of sorts, to be honest) that they really don't notice his arrival. But they do find the something they were looking for. Shrugging off a little string off their shoulder, they press something like a notepad (a bunch of papers with slits near the edges, wound together by dark green string) against the nearest wall and try to write. Except they're just doing it with their fingers--the middle one on their right hand to be exact. And it seems that marks are actually appearing on the paper. Wow technology.
After they're done (it takes a little longer than it should have, because they add nice-looking but unnecessary shading at the very end), they show it to Ignas.
Turns out they just drew a diagram of a Christmas light. A nice one, at that. Pretty cool.
Ignore the fact that the marks are crimson like blood, by the way. Focus on the positives.

Re: (@Time & Specter) Kiaane is up to something.

They nod in agreement and then stop nodding by his last sentence, probably to indicate some difference in opinion. Or...something.
"The strings are a prototype," they inform. "They can be changed to..." They vaguely indicate their drawing by shaking the paper a little. "...this." After a small pause, they add, "Possibly."

Re: (@Time & Specter) Kiaane is up to something.

They were going to ask for more, but they take that second part as a command. So, they get to doing them. But at that moment, they finally notice Martin.
They basically freeze, but not for any usual reasons. Kiaane is actually trying to remember his name. They've never been good with names. What was it? It had an n somewhere. Narwhal? No, that couldn't be right. Narmit? Or maybe it didn't start with 'n.' They stare, think, and then fail to recall. In the end, they just square their shoulders slightly and talk.
"Nartim," they say, before proceeding to say nothing else.
...They were so close.
(The funny thing is that their accent almost makes it sound like they got it right, though.
Almost.)
